MDA continues to do well, even if we only see them on YouTube highlights. The one YouTube highlight getting attention is La Parka not doing much to protect Blue Demon on a piledriver off the apron and onto one the plastic carts.

straight falls, Mephisto pulling Dragon Lee’s mask and cradled him.

CMLL didn’t make it clear they were running singles matches instead of a cibernetico. A cibernetico would’ve produced a better overall match. Singles match gave some people more chance to stand out individual (and gave them the only singles wins they’re likely to get this year.) Retro was beat quickly and some of the other matches didn’t go long, but it was an overall interesting field. Super Astro Jr. show off a few of his father’s old moves. George Kebrada looked useful in streaming debut. Flyer & Yago went for difficult spots in the block final and did not get them all but were able to recover when well.

Flyer’s seems to face Akuma a lot, seven times since last October, and his chances of going to the final is up. Flyer winning suggests Audaz has been removed from the tournament, since there’s no point in the new star losing in this competition. Last night’s run down of Informa guests suggests Principe Odin Jr., who’s has a new name but has been around since 2005 as Artillero, might have been added to this tournament. I don’t think we’re going to know for sure who’s in the second block unless they announce it on Informa or release the card on Thursday.

On CMLL’s Facebook, Flyer thanks everyone for supporting him, including uncle Volador. Dragon Lee also said he’d want to face Mephisto in a singles match, but that’s probably a ways off if it’ll happen at all. Next week will be full of Copa Nueva Valores singles matches as well, and that final is on 04/17.

CMLL (TUE) 04/03/2018 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@Arena_GDL]
1) Ráfaga & Sádico b El Yaqui & Mágico
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Cancerbero, Frezzer, Raziel b Magnum, Príncipe Diamante, Star Jr.
Rudos took 1/3.
3) Misterioso Jr., Sagrado, Virus b Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso, The Panther
Rudos took 1/3.
4) Esfinge, Titán, Tritón b Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
Tecnicos took 2/3, and challenged for the national trios championship. NGD accepted.
5) Cavernario, Felino, Negro Casas b Carístico, Valiente, Volador Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, the last by sneaking in a foul on Volador.

Trios title match next week. The GDL feed is working at this moment, but will it last?

ROH World has an interview with Matt Taven. If he knows when he’s going back to CMLL, he’s keeping it quiet, though he does suggest he might defend the NWA Welterweight Championship elsewhere.

CMLL luchadora Skadi was doing an autograph signing this past weekend. She has been seen in the ring since injuring an ankle on a move off the apron last September. Skade mentions here that she actually broke her ankle in four places.

Bobby Lee is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack. It sounds like his condition is improving.

CMLL has bios of Blue Panther and Negro Casas before they appear on the Arena Coliseo anniversary show. ESTO has an interview with Felino & Atlantis about the building. Tickets for the show were supposed to on sale Thursday, but it sounds like they may have moved it up a day.

complete Impact Wrestling versus Lucha Underground, airing on Twitch for free Friday night.

  • Austin Aries & Fenix vs. Alberto El Patron & Pentagon Jr.
  • Eddie Edwards vs. Jeremiah Crane [I Quit]
  • Allie vs. Taya Valkyrie [IMPACT KNOCKOUT]
  • LAX vs. Killshot & The Mack [IMPACT TAG]
  • Dezmond Xavier, Andrew Everett & DJZ vs. Drago, King Cuerno & Aerostar
  • Teddy Hart, Scott Steiner vs Dave Crist, Jack Crist
  • Famous B vs Trevor Lee
  • Matt Sydal, Caleb Konley, Moose vs Chavo Guerrero Jr., Jack Evans, Matanza
  • Eli Drake vs Brian Cage

Despite Lucha Underground doing zero to promote this show, Impact has sold out the reserved seating.

I’ve enjoyed Famous B’s work on Lucha Underground and it will be neat to see him on WrestleCon. I do not intend disrespect for Famous B. I would have liked to see more AAA luchadors in his spot, or other people’s spots, on this card. However, it seems a safe bet issues like that are more AAA issues than Impact (or LU’s), since that seems to be a consistent issue no matter who’s using them. It does make it strange that Lucha Libre FMV’s Lucha Underground has more people on this show who’ve left AAA than who are still working for AAA.

Mexa Wrestling returns on 04/28 for Blood Party

+LuchaTV has interviews with Microman and Caristico,

Drago talks about the four way tag team match in Tijuana two weeks from Friday. It sounds like it’s a title match now.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 04/09/2018 Arena Puebla
1) Arkalis, Millenium, Rey Samuray vs El Perverso, Fuerza Chicana, Rey Apocalipsis
2) Fugaz, Principe Daniel, Reyko vs El Malayo, Grako, Templario
3) Kaho Kobayashi & Princesa Sugehit vs Dalys & Zeuxis
4) Ángel de Oro, Dragón Lee, Niebla Roja vs Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
5) La Bestia Del Ring, Rush, Terrible vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Shocker
6) Carístico vs Mistico

The big news: CMLL actually teamed up Los Ingobernables. Congrats to Kraneo for being free of these fools for a day.

And also Caristico & Mistico. I don’t know. When they’ve gone in this direction in the past, like last December, I always figured they held back because they were going to save Caristico vs Mistico for a big day in Arena Mexico. A Arena Puebla show the week after spring vacations end is not exactly a big day. If this draws just as well as the last two weeks, that’s a big feather in their cap, because those shows have a scheduling advantage these ones have not.

I suspect this match is happening to balance things out. Mistico got the win last week, perhaps with the idea that Caristico was going to get his win back here. I can’t imagine Caristico agreeing to lose twice in a row to his replacement. And maybe that’s the reason it’s happening a relatively small show in Arena Puebla instead of a big Arena Mexico show, because CMLL can’t imagine having Mistico lose on a big show either.

It still seems like, if not a waste, but a missed opportunity to hype this match for weeks and put in a bigger building when it’s first time dream match. It’ll still do well in Arena Mexico if/when they do it. Maybe they need to run it thru in Arena Puebla successfully to feel confident about running it thru Arena Mexico and this will ease that process. Maybe the reason CMLL doesn’t do the big matches is because they actually don’t know what their big matches are, and see this one as no more important than the Gran Guerrero versus Mistico they originally were going to run. (I’m skeptical of that reason; indie promoters were asked to not book this match or tease it on their shows. But some of those indies run the same size buildings as Arena Puebla.) Whatever the reason, there’s not many bigger singles non-stip matches CMLL could be running, and it seems to be behind at least the Arena Coliseo Anniversary show and the Copa Nueva Valores tournament in importance for some reason.

At least it’s not on the Sunday show like all the Dragon Lee/Cavernario matches.
