Sky Team took 2/3, the last when Mistico submitted Caristico cleanly to La Mistica 10th defense, first in over a year. Post match challenges built up a Mistico/Caristico title match.

I very well may be forgetting something, but I believe that’s the first time Mistico has made Caristico give up to their shared hold. The post match promos and the announcers were all treating Mistico vs Caristico like it was obviously going to be happening next week and it was no big deal it would be. It still would be a really big deal if it actually happened, and shocking that CMLL would do it for the first time in Arena Puebla when they’re aware of how hot the tease of the match has been in Arena Mexico. Guess we’ll see when the card comes out.

Beyond all that, the match was said to be good. (I didn’t get to watch much of it yet.)  This appears to be the first card with all five Dinamitas on it.

Today’s Arena Mexico show’s main event is Mr. Niebla, Ephesto and Mephisto versus Diamatne Azul, Dragon Lee and Soberano. The spotlight match is the semimain, the first part of the Copa Nuevo Valores tournament, which is sort of successor to the Sangre Nueva tournament and Copa Juniors of recent years as the midcard/lower competition.

2012: Dragon Lee (Mistico) defeated Raziel
2013: Soberano Jr. defeated Taurus (Gran Guerrero)
2014: Super Halcon Jr. defeated Canelo Casas
2016: Esfinge defeated Puma
2017: Soberano Jr. defeated Sanson

Tonight will have eight men in a cibernetico. Eight more will be in a match next week, and the finalists will meet on 04/17 for the cup. Tonight’s eight can be broken up like so

very long shots: Sangre Imperial, George Kebrada, Retro, Grako
dark horses:  Super Astro Jr., Yago
favorites: Flyer, Astral

A rookie tournament is more prone to unexpected finalists. We have less information about how CMLL sees these guys. Retro & Grako have been openers only, but Geroge Kebrada has barely been seen. I’m guessing Super Astro Jr. has a better shot because he has a family name, but he didn’t really stand out when I saw him last year. Flyer doens’t have many big wins but he’s being booked higher than everyone else here, and Astral is a former champion.

Astral is notable also because he was not in the originally announced field. I’m not sure who got bumped, but I do know there’s a rumor going around Facebook that both Audaz & Templario were moved out of this competition. I don’t know if it’s true, but something to keep in mind if the announcers start listing off next week’s field during this week’s match.

Reporte Indigo interviews Sangre Imperial, who feels he needs to win over the fans in this match more than he needs to actually win the match. He’s probably correct? Imperial says his father (Sangre Chicana)’s name opened doors, but he needs to prove he’s more than just another junior to get farther. It doesn’t sound like father and son are close.

The rest of CMLL’s Tuesday show includes a women’s match, a minis match, an opener full of veterans since the rookies are already booked. Tuesday’s show returns to the normal 7:30pm CT start time, which means the Sangre Nueva tournament takes place around 8:40pm. It’ll be on YouTUbe as normal.

Guadalajara has Caristico teaming with Volador & Valiente against Cavernario, Felino and Negro Casas. Volador attacked Caristico after they teamed up last week there and probably will again. The semimain has the NGD vs Esfinge, Titan and Triton, which seems likely to set up a trios title match next week – though perhaps it’s a question which trios titles will be on the line. Remember, Cuatrero, Sanson and Forastero hold both the national trios titles and the Guadalajara focused Occidente Trios Championship.

Voice of Wrestling has a preview of the The Crash show at WrestleCon, which is incredibly only three days away. My current understanding is the show will not air live, but a rough cut of the show will be up to watch on Highspots in a day or so, and then a more post produced version will be available later on.

Johnny Mundo and Taya are interviewed on Harley Morenstein’s YouTube channel about Lucha Underground. (Thanks for mentioning this in the comments!) The video gives the best look of the Season 4 Temple I’ve seen so far. During the discussion, Morenstein says Lucha Underground Season 4 starts in June, and Mundo corrects to the more vague “summer”.

Puma’s latest video includes a trip to Guadalajara for their Homenaje a Dos Leyendas show. Puma was also announced for Beyond Wrestling’s 04/29 show in Worcester, taking on Flip Gordon.

In Arena Jalisco, Willy Banderas lost his hair to Reggae Boy in a cage match.
