Hijo de Canis Lupus’ IWRG debut. He took out Trauma I’s knee in revenge for him unmasking his father.

Sending Trauma I to medical treatment is an amusing way to introduce Hijo de Canis Lupus. The original Canis Lupus was around for a couple months after he lost his mask, but not in a memorable fashion after he lost his mask to Trauma I.

It looks like the faction warfare in the midcard might be coming to ahead, but I’ve thought that before.

CMLL tonight has the Sky Team defending their CMLL world trios titles for the first time in over a year. Mistico, Valiente and Volador had exciting matches when they were regularly defending this championship against the Guerreros, and they’re basically going up against a Guerrero trio tonight. The challengers are Utlimo Guerrero, Gran Guerrero and non-Guerrero Caristico. Caristico should be at least as good help as Niebla Roja. Caristico’s presence also means the Guerreros will be cheered or, more directly, Mistico will be booed for not being Caristico. The Guerrero brothers & Caristico should provide a good match, but they would be a strange trios champions going forward and a title change seems unlikely.

The semimain has NGD taking on Dragon Lee, Niebla Roja and Soberano in what should also be a pretty good trios match if it’s given time. It’s a little strange Cuatrero & Angel de Oro are on a card and not facing each other, but Angel de Oro is a strange feud with Mascara 2000 in the tercera. Esfinge, Stigma, Polvora and Universo 2000 Jr. are also involved. The women are in the second match (Kobayashi, Sugehit, Sanely against Comandante, Tiffany and Zeuxis.) The opener has Policeman, King Jaguar & Malayo taking on Black Tiger, Lestat and Tiger Rojo Jr., in a mix of local favorites and people who might actually be good.

CMLL Puebla returns to it’s normal starting time of 9pm CDT everywhere. That’s 10pm Eastern time, 7pm Pacific Time, not the late start of the last month. (The exception is places like Japan, where Daylight Saving TIme is not observed; all shows are an hour later until October if that’s your situation.) I’d expect the title match to take place around 10:30pm CT, and the show will be available for VOD on YouTube as usual.

Ovaciones mentions Dragon Rojo says he’ll announce a third member of Los Revolucionarios soon. It’s been down to Polvora & Rojo since Bobby Zavala was fired last May. At that point, they weren’t looking for a new member, but they haven’t done much since.

I’m on Voices of Wrestling, previewing Saturday’s The Crash show at WrestleCon.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 04/08/2018 Arena México
1) Acero & Aéreo vs Mercurio & Pequeño Nitro
2) Fugaz, Principe Daniel, Reyko vs Metálico, Sangre Azteca, Templario
3) Estrellita, Maligna, Princesa Sugehit vs Dalys, La Seductora, Metálica
4) Hechicero vs Puma [lightning]
5) Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón vs Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Soberano Jr.
6) Diamante Azul, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, Terrible

This show takes place against WrestleMania (and probably could happen 3 times over in the time that show will take place), but the turnout probably won’t be much affected. Sunday shows are families who want to see live wrestling. It’ll probably more affect the wrestlers who want to see the show.

The Guadalajara wrestlers in next week’s Copa Nuevo Valores are the semimain. Hechicero/Puma would be an exciting match if we got to see it, and it’s the second Hechicero singles match on these shows in two days.
