Caristico/Volador & Leyenda de Azul tonight

Tonight’s CMLL show has the first Volador & Caristico match….in about two months. They just faced off in the final of the Leyenda de Azul, and are rematching with a bit heightened tensions. The match should be good, and Carsitico is the favorite after getting humiliated last couple weeks. It’s more interesting to see if this is just the end of this issue for now, or if they’ll following up on this after the holiday season. The last match was pretty good and this should be as well.

The semimain is random. The Leyenda de Azul returns with an all rudo lineup. (Rush is technically a tecnico, but really a rudo.) An all rudo lineup doesn’t seem as promising as an all tecnico lineup, and some of the people included (Shocker, Mr. Niebla, Mascara 2000, Rey Bucanero, Pierroth, Misterioso) aren’t usually thought of having good matches in 2017. The format may help, but it’s a strange set up. Rush is due to win something, so I think he’s the favorite. This would be Kraneo’s first match in about six weeks, with no mention of what happened to him.

The undercard looks promising. Mistico teams with Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja to take on Cavernario, Cuatrero and the returning Negro Casas. That match looks like Casas might be able to get by with his partners taking much of the load. The usual fun trio of Puma, Tiger and Virus take on Drone, Rey Cometa and Guerrero Maya in another good match. The opener is Fiero & Oro versus Raziel & Templario, in the final preview of the 12/25 cage match.

The show airs at 8:30 pm on Claro’s website and Facebook, and will be up around 11:30 on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

The Crash announced Matt Riddle will team with Daga & Penta vs Mecha Wolf, Garza and Bestia in the main event of their 01/20 show. Bringing in Riddle to be the third person in a trio seems extravagant. The Crash’s show last night in Tapachula looks it drew pretty well. The last The Crash labeled show of the year is on Christmas in Salon Citlalli, which will be much smaller than usual.

Arolucha put tickets on sale for their 01/19 show in Amarillo and 01/20 in Lubbock, Texas. The Facebook page for this show says the Lubbock show is a TV taping, but the comments clarify that it is not one. Tickets are $20 GA and $40-45 for reserved. Arolucha seems very excited to get going after how well their first show went, but No wrestler has been yet advertised for any of these shows. I’m sure they’ll try to put on good shows but I’d hold off until they say who’s on them.

SoloWrestling has a really good interview with Hip Hop Man and El Mosco in Spanish. They’re heading back to Argentina for a couple months. They explain they’re not in IWRG because IWRG started to move them down the card when they didn’t have an idea for them, and they’d rather work elsewhere than lower their value, but still will be happy to go back to IWRG when they have something for them. Hip Hop Man says that when he first came to Mexico, Dorian Roldan pitched him on an Argentinean character Antonio Pena had created long ago, but it sounds like it went nowhere. Mosco has been training in CMLL for the last six months, and feels it’s really helped him. Hip Hop Man hopes to clear up his work visa situation so he can try working in the US or Japan in 2018. Both men agree they would trade their lucha libre careers for a single Argentina World Cup victory.

Lucha Libre Elite says they’re starting on Azteca in January.
