Copa Dinastia, Virus/Solar, AAA benefit show, Alberto

today

Tonight’s CMLL show is built around the now second annual Copa Dinastia. CMLL held this four team tournament with the same four families (Casas, Panthers, Dinamtias and Munoz) just about a year ago to the day, though with slightly different team members in some case. The Casas family got an upset win last time around, but had Negro Casas on the team. Felino replaces him, and that makes them longer shots. The Casas family (eventually) got a national trios title shot as a reward. There’s no word if that’ll be the case again this year, but it would make the most sense for Panthers to win if that was the case, since they fit as natural opponents to the DInamtias (who are already National champions.) Pierroth says he and his sons are going to fight Ingobernable style, which I guess means they’re definitely not going to win anything important.

The actual main event is a mix of the two bigger ongoing CMLL stories. Negro Casas and Sam Adonis are definitely heading to a hair match at some point, and are opposite sides of this match. Sam Adonis is now billing himself as the Destroyer of Legends, and wants to sign for a hair match with Negro Casas immediately; it’s possible they agree to that match tonight. That hair match seems certain, while where Volador and Rush are ending up is completely uncertain. Tonight, they’re partners with Adonis, with Rush still wanting Volador to be a full time ally of Los Ingobernables. Mephisto & Ultimo Guerrero round out the match on Negro Casas’ side.

The show also includes a Solar vs Virus one fall match. This replaces Cien Caras vs Rayo de Jalisco, a match that was advertised and unadvertised with a word of explanation from the promotion – true Mexican lucha libre fashion. The first half of the card features some slightly promising matches, but keep in mind that there’s eight matches (plus one stupid battle royal) scheduled for this show and lots of the matches are going to be cut down to fit around the normal show length.

The show will air at 8:30pm on ClaroSports and their Facebook. CMLL also clandestinely streams the show on their own YouTube page because it’s easier than uploading it after the fact, and sometimes forgets to make it private. It’ll be up there eventually after the fact.

+LuchaTV has interviews with Sam Adonis, Tiger, Forastero, Pierroth, and The Panther.

Guadalajara seems to be setting up a Puma/Esfinge title match.

On Informa, a new “85 years of CMLL” book was unveiled. We didn’t really get any more info on that a quick flip thru of it – it looked along the lines of Lourdes Grobet’s “Lucha Libre” book of photos and short articles, but we saw very little of it. No price or release date was mentioned, only that it will only be sold at Arena Mexico for now and there will be limited amounts available.

AAA announced a charity show on December 9 at Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera. The show is a partnership with KidZania Mexico, with the goal of raising money to build two new schools to replace existing ones which were damaged by the September earthquake.

On Wednesday, Alberto talked to MedioTiempo about his charity show cancellation. He’s changed his view on some things: he doesn’t blame the government any more, and says the government has offered him any building he’d like to use. (Recall, before he accused the government of corruption, and the government said they previously offered Alberto any building as a replacement only for Alberto to say no.) Alberto claims he knows the exact person who’s responsible for the show being canceled, but he doesn’t want to say the name to avoid any legal issue, so he’s going to let the government agencies out the person instead. Alberto says The Toluca football club, where he was recently for a game, offered him their facilities, including the soccer stadium. It’s probably a bit too big for them right now but they’d like to get there someday.

Alberto defeated Rush last Sunday in Monterrey., after the usual exchange of fouls and before the usual rematch challenge. It sounds like the next MDA show is 12/01.

Guadalajara’s Rielero says he’s debuting in ELITE on a not-yet-announced 12/08 show (which should be the Naucalpan one.)

Baja Stars USA announced the first show I’ve seen for 2018 (besides the FantasticaMania shows). However, it’s a February weekend show including Penta & Fenix, right about when they should be filming Lucha Underground, so I dunno.

Sensacional de Luchadors interviews Aeroboy about how long he plans on wrestle, DTU, ChilangoMask and Violento Jack, and the five most extreme luchadors in Mexico.

Volador Jr. says Jack Evans is good, but lacks mat wrestling.

LuchaWorld has the latest news update.

The new episode of Lucha Talk is up.

Dorada Fan has highlights of CMLL November 7/10th.

Lector24 interviews Gallego.

The Gladiatores has a video interview with Negro Navarro & Traumas.
