AAA in Juarez, Lucha Memes, Rayo/Cien off

today

AAA TV (SUN) 11/19/2017 Gimnasio Municipal Josué Neri Santos, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua [AAA]
1) Faby Apache b La HiedraBig Mami [Reina De Reinas, #1 Contenders]
Big Mami replaced Ayako Hamada.
2) Averno & Súper Fly b Aerostar & Drago and Argenis & Bengala and Carta Brava Jr. & Tito Santana
Bengala replaced Angelico and the match was changed to a four way. Chessman got involved and cost Carta Brava the match.
3) Lady Shani b Venus [mask]
Shani seemed to suffer a leg injury.
4) La Parka b Dave The Clown
Parka beat Dave, but was attacked by Marty.
5) Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Pagano b Marty The Moth, Monsther Clown, Murder Clown
6) Hijo del Fantasma b Rey Escorpión [AAA LA]
Fantasma got his belt & trophy back earlier in the night, probably because he needed it since this was made Escorpion’s title match. Texano and Tirantes both tried to help Escropion but Psycho Clown got involved and Fantasma still retained. First defense.
7) Hernandez & Johnny Mundo b Dr. Wagner Jr. & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
Mundo fouled Hijo de Wagner. Vampiro was somehow involved. Wagner will get a title shot at Guerra de Titanes 2018.

AAA TV continues to exist in a foggy land of ok/good matches and nothing much going on between the big shows. Even the title match here seems like just a setup to another title match that’ll include both guys and the two guys who interfered, not the end of any story. They seem to draw their fans, but it all feels inconsequential.

Guerra de Titanes is something January (19th?), probably in Mexico City. This was Mundo’s last scheduled appearance of the year, though there’s not much TV scheduled left: the next taping is 12/02 in Xalapa, and the final TV is 12/16 in Apizaco, Tlaxcala.

They don’t appear to have announced a name/age for local luchadoras Venus. That’s obviously that match that has the most chance of being left off TV, because it was totally a program just for the local fans.

Angelico hasn’t made a TV show since before TripleMania. This would be Faby’s first TV win since March (when she won the trios title in a singles match with Ricky Marvin); Ayako is in Japan, and maybe they ran out of options but to go to Faby again. The really notable missing people here are the Llave de la Gloria wrestlers, who have been about a 1/3rd of the last few tapings and not at all on this one.

Today is a holiday in Mexico, celebrating the start of the Mexican revolution in 1910. Lucha Memes is the only really notable big show outside the usual Arena Puebla show. Chairo 10 is headlined by Volador/Jack Evans, with Extreme Tiger vs Hechicero and Caifan vs Mr. Niebla as the other big singles matches. The actual main event of the show will be Silueta vs Keyra in a cage match, mostly because Arena Naucalpan staff said it’d be take too much time to both put up and take down the cage during the show. As always with Lucha Memes, the show will probably eventually be released in highlights but we have no idea if a full version will ever turn up (though it seems like more people are doing their own filming as time goes by.)

Puebla has the odd main event of Valiente, Rush, Niebla Roja vs Mascara Ano 2000, Negro Casas, Ultimo Guerrero. Roja is a sub for Diamante Azul, and Mascara feels like he was a sub for someone (or they were late to remember Mr. Niebla was booked elsewhere.) The better match is the semimain, where NGD faces Angel de Oro, Dragon Lee and Soberano, which should be a pretty fast paced match.

Fuego, Stigma and Stuka face Dragon Rojo, Polvora, and Virus. Dalys and La Vaquerita have their first ever singles match in a lightning match. The second match is a promising minis match, with Stukita & Asturiano taking on Joker & Pierrothito. Millenium & Vega wrestle Ares & Guerrero Espacial in the opener. The show starts at 9pm.

CMLL removed the Rayo de Jalisco versus Cien Caras match from Friday’s lineup. For his part, Rayo on Facebook said nothing was confirmed and he is busy in the US. It sure seemed like the lineup confirmed it. I don’t have any lineup of Rayo in the US but it’s very possible for US shows to slip thru.

My guess is Friday’s match changed the plans – people rethought it after seeing how they actually did, or maybe someone suffered an injury. Another good theory is they saw they were booked in the middle of the card and one or both said no to that. I dunno. It’s for the best, what the reason. Friday’s card was overloaded with matches as it was, so there’s no need for a replacement match and the match would’ve been a disaster.

The Crash says Damian & Bestia aren’t working that The Clash show in Juarez and they have nothing to do with it. The Clash has a facebook page where they’re using the name Clash of Titanes instead; not sure why they didn’t just put that on the poster.

On a recent ACE/Wrestle-1 show, Soma Sumeragi was mentioned as going to Mexico soon. I know nothing about him but keep it in mind in case a new Pantera shows up soon.

LuchaWorld has the latest news update.

CultIcon writes a tribute to Ricky Marvin.

Lineup

CMLL (SUN) 11/26/2017 Arena México
1) Bengala & Sonic vs Artillero & Grako
2) Astral, Fiero, Pegasso vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Templario
3) Blue Panther, Esfinge, Rey Cometa vs Ephesto, Máscara Año 2000, Mephisto
4) Ángel de Oro, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Mr. Niebla
5) Carístico, Marco Corleone, Niebla Roja vs Kráneo, Pierroth, Rush

No Signo/Starman – though they do face off on Friday, and we’re due a segunda level apuesta match in time for the usual New Year’s Day show. Mascara 2000 is a main eventer on Monday and working the third match here because all the heavyweights are booked? I dunno why you even book Mascara 2000 to be in a tercera.
