lucha TV preview for weekend of October 13th

full size

This is the end of Lucha Underground…season 3. Whatever happens next, there’s not going to be Lucha Underground for at least half a year: 4 months to get ready to tape, and 1 month to turn tape into episodes. That’s at the earliest. Enjoy both hours, because it’s either the last you’ll see until Spring ’18, or the last you’ll see.

With LU soon on the way out, I bit the bullet and finally added Guadalajara to the listings. Locally, it airs first on Thursdays nights, but that channel doesn’t have a YouTube feed. The Saturday 10pm airing is airing on this feed, though my sense is it’s a screw up and supposed to blacked out from the internet. Televisa attempts to block all which aren’t locally produced by the station from airing on YouTube, to avoid getting in trouble with YouTube (for copyright violations) or the TV shows themselves (who may have not given them the right to air it on the internet.) I don’t think CMLL Guadalajara or AAA really cares if they air, but it seems to be a blanket policy. It’s also a poorly administered policy, with those shows and others slipping thru when the schedule isn’t lined up correctly. That all adds up to meaning I should never be able to air those shows except for incompetence, but incompetence is fairly common.

IWRG may air twice this week. +Lucha will probably post the Traumas/Eterno vs Indy Nation match anyway, but I’m hoping AYM shows it just to be safe given the great reviews it’s gotten.

IWRG defeats Indy Nation, even more The Crash lineups

IWRG (WED) 10/11/2017 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV, Estrellas del Ring, The Gladiatores]
1) Dranzer & Fly Tiger b Kraken & Satán X
2) Alas de Acero, Aramis, Shadow Boy b Fly Star, Lunatic Xtreme, Toxin
3) Dulce Luna & Lili Dark b Lady Cat & Princesa Shira
good match
4) Máquina Infernal, Ovett, Pleito Castillo b Chico Che, Dinamic Black, Súper Brazo Jr.
big Plieto Castillo replaced Oficial 911. Hip Hop Man & La Mosca interfered to help him win in straight falls (he’s the new third person in their trio, and they’re back in IWRG.) Hip Hop Man wants the Argentina title back from Dragon Fly.
5) Eterno, Trauma I, Trauma II b Arez, Centvrión, Séptimo Rayo
great match. Arez challenged Trauma II to a singles match.

The main event got strong reviews.

TKD and CultIcon write about last night’s Ultima Lucha.

DTU announced Crazy King, Dr. Polux Jr., Ovett, Paraonoiko,, Toxico, Corsario Negro Jr., Halloween, and Ciclope for it’s ultraviolent tournament on 10/21 in Tulancingo. There’s also a rare full DTU match up, with Flamita facing Jimmy and Principe Cometa from back on September 24.

The new episode of Lucha Talk is up.

Felino talks about his biggest career achievements, which somehow are not just filming a video with Zacarias. (It is that cibernetico.)

Hechicero talks about making to CMLL from Monterrey.

Garza Jr.‘s interviewed about being on Impact. This is an interesting quote.

“I think, right now, that (lucha libre) style is better in the USA than it is in Mexico City,” Garza said, before laughing out, “The high flyers in the USA?… there’s a lot of craziness!”

“I can tell you, right now in Mexico, a lot of the companies are using the American model and doing things like U.S. independent wrestling.”

On Informa, Flyer, Magnus and Robin said they’re going to be a trios called Los Compadres del Mal. They’ve – mostly Robin & Flyer – have been wearing matching gear for a while in tag matches.

ESPN has a video feature on exoticos.

An article on UNAM’s annual wrestling panel discussion has wrestlers complaining about TV ruining wrestling.

A brief article on Coahuila luchador Redman.

SuperLuchas visits the first post-earthquake Arena Coliseo show.

Lineups

The Crash (SAT) 11/11/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Astrolux, Atomic Star, Pegazus vs Black Dragón, Látigo, Tiago
2) Arkángel Divino, Black Boy, Black Danger, Último Maldito vs Aramis, Dinamic Black, Fly Warrior, Toxin
The Crash vs LLyP
3) Keyra, Máscarita Dorada, Último Ninja vs Christi Jaynes, Demus 3:16, Laredo Kid
4) Daga vs Keith Lee
5) Carlito, Jack Evans, M-ximo vs Bestia 666, Black Taurus, Hijo de Pirata Morgan
6) The King & Willie Mack vs Flamita & Mr. 450
7) Penta Zero M vs Garza Jr. vs La Máscara

This is the Mexico City card, slightly outside of Mexico City. They drew more in Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera than can fit in this arena, so it should sell out the arena easy. Note no Rush or Pierroth on the Mexico City card. If the Rush/Penta match everyone wants to see happens, it’s probably got to happen in Tijuana.

Semimain and fourth match are standout matches. A Lucha Libre y Pasion offer team is random but means there’s a good chance this will be streamed on Facebook Live. It’s CDMX, so this will be showing up on a dozen YouTube channels unofficially.

The Crash (TUE) 11/14/2017 Domo de la Feria, León, Guanajuato
1) Arkángel Divino, Astrolux, Black Boy vs Látigo, Tiago, Último Maldito
2) Christi Jaynes, Máscarita Dorada, Zumbi vs Black Danger, Demus 3:16, Keyra
3) Damián 666, Jack Evans, M-ximo vs Black Taurus, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pierroth
4) Daga vs La Máscara vs Flamita vs Bestia 666
5) Rush vs Penta Zero M vs Garza Jr.
6) Rey Mysterio 619, The King, Willie Mack vs Brian Cage, Carlito, Mr. 450

The shows announced so far

  • 11-03 (Friday) Guadalajara
  • 11-04 (Saturday) Tijuana
  • 11-05 (Sunday) Monterrey
  • 11-06 (Monday) Nuevo Laredo
  • 11-07 (Tuesday) Querétaro
  • 11-08 (Wednesday) Aguascalientes
  • 11-11 (Saturday) Naucalpan (CDMX)
  • 11-14 (Tuesday) León

It looks like a 11-09 show in Toluca is the only one left to announce. The original schedule had San Luis Potosi instead of Querétaro. I suspect the low turnout to the last SLP show convinced them to maybe not go back so soon. That’s going to be the story for this entire tour: if The Crash draws great going back to some of these cities a second time after not long of a break, they’re a success. If it turns out like SLP, then maybe it’s not viable without that TV deal. We’re going to know a lot more about The Crash’s chances by the end of this run.
