AAA returning to US TV, The Crash mask match, Hechicero beats Kojima

CMLL (SAT) 09/02/2017 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Demasiado b Kairos
Debuts for both, who are said to be training in CMLL’s school.
2) Warrior Steel & Yago b Príncipe Diamante & Sensei
rudos took 1/3
3) La Vaquerita, Lady Maravilla, Skadi b La Comandante, La Seductora, Tiffany
Tenicas took 1/3. Skadi replacing Sanely.
4) Blue Panther b Vangellys [lightning]
5) Soberano Jr., Stuka Jr., Titán b Dragón Rojo Jr., Hechicero, Pólvora
tecnicos took 1/3
6) Carístico, Kenny King, Valiente DQ Kojima, Shocker, Terrible
tecnicos took 1/3. Terrible fouled Caristico.

I guess we know if Demsiado & Kairos (Jr.?) passed their test if they get used again.

The Crash (SAT) 09/02/2017 Auditorio de Tijuana, Tijuana, Baja California [@jorgeGCRR, 126f, The Crash]
1) Jonathan, Kamik-C, Sombra De Plata b Mirage, Skalibur, Viento
2) Desi Derata & Dezmond Xavier b Keyra & Laredo Kid
3) Homicide b Último NinjaEli Everfly
Homicide replaced Low Ki (quit GFW.)
4) Jack Evans b Bestia 666 [super libre]
Garza seconded Bestia. Jack brought Damian to counter. Pierroth tried to help Bestia win but failed. Pierroth and Damian had words post match. Konnan made Jack & Bestia sign their hair match contract for 11/04, and then tell Pierroth to get in a match and not just interfere.
5) Ortiz & Santana b Dave Crist & Jake Crist and Arkángel Divino & Black Boy and Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Último Maldito [GFW TAG]
LAX beat Black Boy
6) Carlito & Daga b La Máscara & Pierroth and Garza Jr. & M-ximo
Pierroth replaced La Mascara. Worked as 4 vs Carlito & Daga, then Mascara & Maximo attacked Garza. Daga pinned Pierroth after Maximo kissed him by mistake. Damian attacked Pierroth after the match, then Mascara & Pierroth attacked M-ximo (kicking him out of the group to get back to a trio.) Daga and Garza exchanged challenges, with Garza calling Daga “steriod body” and Daga wanting a singles match next week.
7) Black Danger b Oráculo [mask]
Black Danger won with a piledriver, and joined Garza’s group. Oraculo was unmasked as Jose Rios, from Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico, 10 years a wrestler.

Oraculo is also known as Jay Rios. If you’re following the Mae Young Classic, you’ve probably seen Mia Yim, and Yim talking about surviving domestic abuse. She never mentions the boyfriend’s name, but it’s widely understood to be Jay Rios. He’s confirmed he’s the person be mentioned, while denying the actual charges. I can’t claim to know exactly what happened, but I’m aware what tends to be the truth in these situations. It’s normally frustrating to follow The Crash, mostly about watching handhelds with people’s heads floating into frame. Oraculo being used here is frustrating in a entirely different way, and I’m happy that, should I ever get to it, I won’t be paying him or The Crash a single dollar for his mask loss.

The factions in the Crash appear to be

Rebellion RED: Pentagon, Fenix, Daga, Rey Mysterio, maybe Damian
Rebellion YELLOW: Garza, Bestia 666, Ultimo Ninja, Black Taurus, Black Boy
Ingobernables: Rush, La Mascara, Pierroth
tecnicos: Jack Evans, Mximo, other people

Matches 3&4 may turn up (as highlight packages) on Impact.

The Crash announced Rush vs Brian Cage for 09/07.

CMLL (SUN) 09/03/2017 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Bengala & Flyer b Artillero & Espanto Jr.
2) Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito b Acero, Fantasy, Último Dragóncito
Fantasy replaced Stukita
3) Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. b Felino, Luciferno, Puma
Puma replaced Ephesto. Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Marco Corleone, Mistico, Valiente b Gran Guerrero, Kráneo, Mr. Niebla
Tecnicos took 2/3. Valiente replaced the still missing Niebla Roja.
5) Diamante Azul, Kenny King, Volador Jr. DQ Kojima, Pierroth, Rush
tecnicos took 2/3. Kojima fouled Volador.

What do you think CMLL acknowledges first: Niebla Roja not wrestling on their shows or Octagon wrestling on their shows?

(In “this probably doesn’t meant anything BUT” news, Lucha Azteca has skipped airing the Niebla Roja/Gran Guerrero match the last two weeks.)

Lucha Memes (SUN) 09/03/2017 Coliseo Coacalco, Coacalco, Estado de México [+LuchaTV]
1) Judas el Traidor b Avisman
2) Silueta b Quetzal
3) Corsario Negro Jr. & Drako b Alas de Acero, Aramis, Iron Kid
2 v 3. Great match.
4) Hechicero b Kojima
Mima Shimoda seconded Kojima.
5) Makabre b Keyra
hard hitting match. Keyra was injured before the finish.
6) Virus b Aeroboy
good match

There’s no mention of how Hechicero/Kojima went, but at least Hechicero can say he got that win. The 2v3 match seems to have gotten the most praise.

AAA returns to US TV for the first time since June 4, 2011 on Monday. They’ll be airing on Univision Deportes every weeknight this week at 8pm CT with one hour introduction to AAA shows. TripleMania will air on the network at 10pm CT on Sunday. All shows are one hour. The weekday episodes are listed as “Lucha Libre AAA”, the Sunday show is just “TripleMania.” AAA had mentioned TripleMania would air on a Univison network back during the TripleMania press conference, but never had announced a date. There’s no mention on what exactly will air, except the broad idea that the weekday episodes are introduction shows. A one hour TripleMania broadcast probably means it’s just the Psycho Clown/Dr. Wagner match, and the weekday stuff will probably build towards that.

AAA repeats on Univison Deportes in Mexico. It must be doing well given how often they show it and how they added the Zona Ruda companion show. That probably opened up a chance here: AAA’s US TV rights are still believed to be owned by Univision, and they’ve bee stuck without a home since Galavision got rid of them and all lucha libre programming. Probably doing well in the Mexico equivalent of this network got AAA this chance, and they’d be hoping this trial run is received well enough to get their TV show(s) a regular spot.

This move, like AAA-friendly Lucha Underground wrestlers working in GFW, is a sign that AAA is ready to move on from LU. The original idea was LU was going to be the only AAA in the US, and that’s obviously changed. AAA does not control the fate of Lucha Underground That appears to be in other people’s hands, and all AAA really can do is prepare for the possibility of LU not being around. It’d be nice if the same freedom to prepare for an uncertain future was extended to the wrestlers.

Hijo del Fantasma says he wants an apuesta match with Texano. Guess he saw that Wagner payoff. Hijo del Fatnasma says he has a bull terrier match with Texano on Monday. AAA is currently advertising a singles match with them, but not a bull terrier match. AAA & Vampiro have said a lot about how they have to put out those lineups in advance, and they’re changing them to make them better for the fans. I find it kind of garbage, but whatever, I’ll accept that garbage. Maybe AAA can’t put on accurate lineup six weeks in advance and the local promoters won’t just let them list talent appearing on the show. But, it’s not six weeks in advance now, it’s about 24 hours before the show. AAA by now has a lineup of matches that’ll actually take place – they’ve clearly told Fantasma his match. It exists: it’s probably printed out in someone’s office, it’s likely sitting in a folder on a bus going to Irapuato, it’s surely shared in a Whatsapp group chat. If it’s truly a better lineup for the fans, why is the correct lineup not being advertised? Why continue to sell tickets to fans tomorrow based on matches you know which may not be correct? This strategy hasn’t helped AAA at all, people not trusting AAA is probably a contributing reason to TripleMania didn’t draw as well as hoped, but there’s an unwillingness to learn from mistakes. If all it takes is one post on Facebook to help the trust you have with your fans, that doesn’t seem like a high price.

EC3, Eli Drake and James Storm are in AAA for the show. The idea of outside guys is to sell tickets and make your group feel like a bigger deal for having them.

AAA posted this week’s TV show. Angelico actually made TV!

Lineups

CMLL (SAT) 09/09/2017 Arena Coliseo

5) Dragón Lee, Soberano Jr., Titán vs Felino, Forastero, Sansón
6) Ángel de Oro, Carístico, Diamante Azul vs Kojima, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla

George Kebrada is probably Jorge Quebrada, who seemed originally based in Arena Aficion before wrestling a little bit in Puebla this year. He’s only really wrestled a little bit in total this year, maybe spending his time in the CMLL gym instead. He’s shown up in FILL’s ciberneticos a couple times: he’s the unmasked guy here. My recollection is he does either an amateur or MMA style gimmick.

Terrible fouling Caristico goes nowhere. Niebla Roja is MIA and CMLL is sending Zeuxis into a match with The Crippler Skadi, that’s really brave or maybe a little foolish.
