Michael Elgin talked post match, and said that Diamante Azul was the rightful winner. Elgin looked like the best guy in the match, but the finish was done well enough that it was still OK.

It sounds like Matt Taven is OK. I have no idea how Matt Taven is OK after the middle rope Devil’s Wings went very wrong. It looked like he got driven right on his neck, and you could see everyone freak out when it happened – Tirantes looks like he was going to rush the ring to stop the match. Taven could see him talking to the doctors in the front row briefly after he got out.

Taven, Robinson and Elgin are headed home (though not for long before they’re back in their home promotions.) Kenny King appears to be around for just the weekend, and Kojima looks like he’s around until 09/16.

CMLL’s promo for the 09/16 show featured the two mask matches on equal footing. Meanwhile, Niebla Roja is mentioned in the video promo for next week, but is not on the actual card. Those promos are done about 9 days in advance, this one would’ve been done on the Wednesday prior to Niebla Roja starting to miss shows. There’s not much of a hint of what’s going on, and I don’t think most of the fanbase has even picked up that Niebla Roja is MIA yet, so it’s not like this is in danger of hurting ticket sales any more than the lineup is. +LuchaTV having an interview with Gran Guerrero, but not one with Niebla Roja, makes me think it’s not an injury, but that Niebla Roja is just out of town unexpectedly for whatever reason and will be back by 09/16. I’d still be amazed if the match didn’t happen, but it at least makes Friday interesting to see if they pull something else.

Shows this weekend

Saturday

  • The Crash is in Tijuana, with the Oraculo vs Black Danger in a mask match. Local Black Danger is the favorite. The actual main event is Carlito & Daga vs Mascara & Escorpion (maybe) & Garza Jr. & Maximo. There’s a GFW tag team title match, with LAX (Ortiz & Santana), OVE (Dave & Jake Crist), Arkangel Divino & Black Boy, and Hijo del Pirata Morgan & Ultimo Maldito. Arkangel and Ultimo doing their spot should turn up on Impact. Bestia and Jack Evans have a super libre match to set up their hair match two months from now. There’s a bunch of people advertised who don’t have a match, and Homicide is apparently coming instead of Low Ki.
  • Coliseo has Caristico, Kenny King, and Valiente vs Kojima, Shocker and Terrible. They had Valiente & Kojima work a bit in the Gran Prix. This show also has the odd Kairos vs Demasiado opener.
  • Arena Lopez Mateos has a one night reunion of the Psycho Circus versus Dr. Wagner, Joe Lider & Patano.
  • Arena Neza has Hijo de LA Park & LA Park vs Dragon Lee & Rush.

Sunday

On his Facebook, Vampiro mentions his return to the ring on Thursday. That’s a show in Aguascalientes, where he’s listed in a trios match. Vampiro mentions AAA does not want him to wrestle, but he feels he needs to as an executive he feels he has to, because that’s an usual belief. Vampiro guesses it’s been 7 years since he’s wrestled in Mexico; it’s more like 3.

Lucha Underground has an interview with Cortez Castro.

Psycho Clown has no problem taking HIjo de Dr. Wagner’s mask too.

Cavernario & Negro Casas teaming with Adonis is odd seeing how that ended last time. Lots of matches could be good here, maybe just not the opener.
