2) Solaris & Tihegus b Glenn Calavera & Jerry Calavera and Aramis & Iron Kid and Lunatik Extreme & Lunatik Fly
3) Lunatik Joe L KilvanToro NegroRobinCiclón BlackPríncipe KronozDemasiadoShadowBlack Warrior Jr.Arceus [mask, hair]
Lunatik Joe lost his hair to Arceus. Lunatik Fly & Lunatik Extreme betrayed joe (who had only wrestled under that name on the last show) for the loss.
4) Drako & Hechicero b Rayo Star & Titán (CMLL)
Titan was originally scheduled to team with Yoruba, who was moved to the main event. Rayo Star was the surprise luchador. The band Dr. Triton played after the match.
5) Flyer b CenturionYoruba [KDR UNIVERSAL]
Scheduled to be Mr. Leo vs Flyer, but Leo pulled out with an injury. Changed about a week out. Flyer is the first champ.

Flyer can win, just not as much in CMLL. Interesting in seeing how that match played out. A guy losing his hair in his second match under that name is the lamest of lame lucha libre promoting. I don’t think it’s unfair promoting, because the fans who go to Arena San Juan are smart enough to know the deal there and probably expected that outcome or didn’t care, but it’s very much a sign of wrestlers booking matches wrestlers want to see than what fans would want to see.

IWRG (SUN) 07/09/2017 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV]
1) Skanda & Tentáculo b Keiser Drago & Shaolin
Drago suffered an injury in the first fall and could not continue
2) Ovett b Dragón Yuki
3) Bombero Infernal, Demonio Infernal, Diablo Jr. b Atomic Star, Eterno, Lunatic Xtreme
controversial three count by referee Rosas. Eterno challenged Bombero Infernal, Demonio Infernal and “his other two sons, Ninja Turtles Leo & Mike”
4) Dinamic Black b Aramis
money thrown in
5) Argos, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro b Emperador Azteca, Hijo del Pantera, Pantera I
Hijo del Pantera betrayed Pantera I & Azteca.
6) Black Warrior, Trauma I, Trauma II b Mr. Electro, Villano III Jr., Villano V Jr.
Black Warrior asked for a title shot against Mr. Electro and will get one next week.

I’m not sure who the Warrior/Electro match is for but they’re getting it. Warrior doesn’t strike me as heavyweight but seems to have a good chance to win coming off a win over Caristico. Hope Dinamic Black/Aramis turns up; I’ll try to get it up tonight if it airs.

Today’s Puebla show is an odd combination of important but repeated matches and random matches with somewhat important people. Niebla Roja and Ultimo Guerrero meet in a singles match for the third time in four days, though the first time it’s been advertised ahead of time on a streaming show. Dalys defends the CMLL’s Women’s Championship against Marcela for the fourth time in the last eight months (and the last title match here.) The Niebla Roja/UG match is setting up a bigger match down the road and will likely have an inconclusive finish, while Dalys & Marcela will probably have a definite finis but not a meaningful one – it’s a two women division for their championship, and the next match is most likely the same match. Both matches should be good and probably better appreciated outside of their context.

The other four matches are all trios. As CMLL schedules often, the big singles match is actually the semimain, and the main event will be a grab bag trios of Pierroth, Rush, Volador versus Carsitico, Kraneo and Ripper. Those teams are strange enough that it might be setting up something interesting (Volador/Caristico) but it also might be setting up a quick match in usual Los Ingobernables fashion. Dragon Lee, Titan and Valiente are scheduled to face Cavernario, Felino and Mr. Niebla in the fourth match, though Mr. Niebla missed his match on Sunday so he’s iffy. (Update: Mr. Niebla was pulled from Friday and Sunday’s show so he’s gone again. Dragon Rojo & Mephisto in for him on those days, who knows tonight.) The Panther brother & Lestat take on Misterioso, Sagrado and hair match loser Ares in the second match, which should be better than usual. Arkalis, Asturiano and Paris face Cancerbero, Raziel and Malayo, which should get the rudos back winning again.

The show airs at 9pm CT on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

Other shows tonight include a Brazo de Plata tribute show in Nuevo Laredo, where Psycho Clown, La Mascara and Maximo will all wrestle on the same show for probably the first time since Psycho Clown left CMLL in 2006.

Alberto is under investigation for domestic violence. He’s not charged with anything as of yet, but it’s added to the long list of his incidents over the last few years. People who employ Alberto can’t claim to be surprised by any of this at this point. They’ve made the cold judgement he’s still very valuable despite the mess of a person he appears to be in public a lot and have given him more prominent roles despite his behavior.

LA Park wrote on Twitter that Sunday’s MDA show was his last show with the promotion. He thanks the promoter so I guess it’s a departure on good terms. The MDA show seems to have drawn well, but not a sell out – and when you’re giving away half the arena free to a loaded show, anything less than a full house seems like a disappointment.

CMLL says Atlantis’ knee operation was a little bit over two hours, but no return date has been releases. There’s also an article just talking about Vangellys being ready for his match with Pierroth, which I couldn’t figure out why it existed until I remembered Vangellys was unconscious last time we saw him. I guess he’s fine now.

Box y Lucha 3291 thinks Pierroth versus Vangellys is the most captivating thing going on in lucha libre this week, which is sad if true.

Miedo Xtremo & Ciclope challenged but lost for the King of Freedom’s Tag Team championship.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 07/16/2017 Arena México
1) Flyer & Robin vs Apocalipsis & Camorra
2) Fuego, Oro Jr., Pegasso vs Disturbio, Sagrado, Virus
3) Artillero, Canelo Casas, Espíritu Negro vs Cholo, Espanto Jr., Inquisidor
4) Ángel de Oro, Diamante Azul, Titán vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Shocker
5) Carístico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Felino, Mr. Niebla

I don’t care that those guys are in the tercera in a show I’m never going to watch, but I’d suspect the people below them care. I guess Artillero & Espiritu ended up siding with Canelo?

I didn’t make enough of the fact that the CMLL early match tecnicos were all eliminated while only managing to beat Artillero. This group of tecnicos is being booked as the worst and they’re not exactly proving the booking wrong.
