Shocker replaced Mr. Niebla. Negro Casas replaced Felino. Cavernario submitted Volador.

I’ve seen none of this so far but it sounds like they’re setting up Volador/Cavernario. Not next week, they’re doing another trios setup first.

CMLL (TUE) 06/06/2017 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Arena Coliseo Guadalajara]
1) Nautilius & Ráfaga b El Alteño & Star Black
Match dropped from the poster with the lineup, then took place anyway. Rudos took 2/3.
2) Cosmos, Shockercito, Stukita ?? Mercurio, Micro, Relámpago Azul
Micro, normally a tecnico, replaced Pierrothito on 06/01. Tecnicos took 1, rudos took 2/, no finish mentioned.
3) Puma, Sangre Azteca, Tiger b Magnus, Star Jr., Starman
4) Marco Corleone b Mr. Niebla, Rush, Gran Guerrero, Pierroth, Terrible, Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Bucanero, Kráneo, Euforia [CMLL HEAVY, cibernetico]
Cibernetico for vacant championship (Maximo firing). Sides were Gran Guerrero, Euforia, Terrible, Pierroth and Rush against Marco Corleone, Rey Bucanero, Mr. Niebla, Dragon Rojo and Kraneo. Eliminations: Dragon Rojo (Pierroth), Gran Guerrero (Rush), Euforia (Kraneo), Pierroth (Niebla), Kraneo (Terrible), Rush (Marco), Niebla (Terrible), and Marco beat Terrible to win the title. He’s the 19th champion, first foreigner to hold the title in 20 years, and it’s his first singles title win in Mexico. It was also his first shot at the heavyweight title.

There’s fan Periscope video of the title change here; since the Guadalajara show is only aired locally, it might be the only video of it we get to see. (They should air highlights on Informa today.) The crowd reacted big to both Marco pinning Rush and Marco winning the title. I did not see it coming, and still thought Terrible was winning when it went to the final two. Marco’s frequently the most over guy on shows and it makes sense for him to be heavyweight champion. It’s a nice achievement for him, a guy who probably was tabbed to to be a future heavyweight champion from early in his career and finally being able to achieve it.

CMLL’s preview for Saturday’s title match says it’s a 1v1 tournament until they determine a new Light Heavyweight match. CMLL also changed the lineup page to say it’s a cibernetico. I think it’s probably a cibernetico, but maybe they’re also actually giving out the title on Saturday.

Universo 2000 is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack Tuesday. The Dinamitas talked about the situation after their match last night, and were heading to Leon to check on him. He suffered a heart attack last year as well, but was said to be recovering fine. Unvierso was originally reported in grave conditions, but is said to be stable now.

Sanson and Ultimo Guerrero talk about advancing in the Gran Alternativa; Ultimo Guerrero is one of Sanson’s trainers.

Lucha Underground has episode 3×21 tonight, “Sudden Death”. Matches announced on the show

  • Johnny Mundo (c) vs the Mack for the Lucha Underground championship (starts the show, must be a winner)
  • Prince Puma vs Mil Muertes in a Boyle Heights Street Fight (listed only in the TV preview, not yet online.)

LU’s also mentioned Dario will have an announcement which will affect the second half of the season. It is not another hiatus. They also released a Kobra Moon promo, where she says she’s coming for the trios titles. It’s either this week or rather soon.

Kortiz Kaving will now be known as Villano V Jr., after a video where Ray Mendoza Jr. handed over the name to his son. The original idea was all the Villano kids would have to create their own names after the sons of Ray Mendoza had to create their own but the idea changed. Kortiz Kaving hasn’t wrestled since breaking his leg last September, but he’ll retun  with the new name on July 2nd in IWRG. I’d assume this means Kaving Kortiz may eventually become Hijo de Villano V.

On Juventud Guerrera’s TV show, Sharlie Rockstar said Elite would return in August. It would be incredibly rare for a promotion to stop existing for 10 months and then come back.

The Arena Mexico Freedom is offering children’s birthday parties and discounts if you’re bringing a guest.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 06/12/2017 Arena Puebla
1) Flyer, Meyer, París vs Joker, King Jaguar, Policeman
2) Arkalis, Espíritu Maligno, Rey Samuray vs Ares, Disturbio, Hijo del Signo
3) Drone, Esfinge, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Sagrado
4) Atlantis, Johnny Idol, Marco Corleone vs Hechicero, Máscara Año 2000, Ripper
5) Carístico, Dragón Lee, Mistico vs Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

Caristico talked about putting this together on Informa and they’re actually teaming one time. Probably no more than once because it’s CMLL.

This will be the 4th straight week where Ares will appear after not appearing since February. Tigre Rojo Jr. gets a shot in a real match.

CMLL (TUE) 06/13/2017 Arena México
1) Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Violencia
2) Oro Jr., Príncipe Diamante, Star Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Metálico, Sangre Azteca
3) Estrellita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis
4) Fuego vs Misterioso Jr. [lightning]
5) Blue Panther, Rey Cometa, Titán vs Hechicero, Morphosis, Rey Bucanero
6) Stuka Jr., Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla

Morphosis getting regular bookings again. This is surprisingly on the second time Fuego & Misterioso Jr. meet in a lightning match (Misterioso won in 2015), though they also meant during an En Busca de Un Idolo (Fuego won).

Revolucha The Crash (SUN) 07/09/2017 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Jerrito Estrada & Mini Hator vs Mini Bengalí & Mini Difunto
2) Golden Boy & Rey Demonio Jr. vs Erika Sotelo & Larry Miranda
3) Demus 666 & Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Arez & Rico Rodríguez
4) Cibernético & Sharlie Rockstar vs Damián 666 & Zorro
5) Bestia 666 vs Daga, Willie Mack, Último Ninja, Sammy Guevara
6) Garza Jr. & Penta 0M vs La Máscara & M-ximo

Llaves y Candados is now promoting as Revolucha for reasons I don’t quite understand. They’re also back in Arena Coliseo Monterrey after saying they’d run this show elsewhere. Everything is a mystery. Demus 666 appears to be Demus 3:16 under his old mentor’s numbers.

CMLL (TUE) 06/13/2017 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Magnum & Rielero vs Exterminador & Maléfico
2) Cosmos, Eléctrico, Stukita vs Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Relámpago Azul
3) La Jarochita, Sanely, Skadi vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Tiffany
4) Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Niebla Roja vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
5) Carístico, Marco Corleone, Mistico vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero

Running two women’s matches on Tuesday sometimes mean a rather dire lineup. Newcomer Rielero makes a Tuesday show already.

2 thoughts to “Marco Corlelone new heavyweight champion, Volador/Cavernario, LU preview”

  1. Didn’t Kortiz work a trios with Vilano IV and Villano III Jr. against Black Terry and crew this year? Also it is super dumb that these kids aren’t just Villano VI, VII and VIII

  2. Very excited for Marco! I was a huge fan of his in WCW and am beyond happy that he is World Champion!
