CMLL returns to Azteca (US), Hijo del Infierno remain trios champions

Lucha Azteca

CMLL (SAT) 06/03/2017 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Acero & Aéreo b Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Estrellita, La Jarochita, Sanely b Amapola, La Comandante, Reyna Isis
3) Blue Panther Jr., Rey Cometa, The Panther DQ Forastero, Sagrado, Sam Adonis
Adonis fouled Rey Cometa
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Morphosis, Pólvora
Morphosis’ first proper CMLL match since November (so also the first since he lost his mask.)
5) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Niebla Roja b Ephesto, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero

An all tecnico night. I’m suspicious Cometa & Adonis may just be working their own feud without CMLL being aware, but it’s better than doing nothing.

CMLL (SUN) 06/04/2017 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Akuma & Inquisidor b Príncipe Diamante & Sangre Imperial
2) Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca b Robin, Sensei, Starman
Rudos took 1/3, keeping the incredible success of Cancerbero & Raziel going
3) Pólvora, Ripper, Sam Adonis b Flyer, Stuka Jr., Titán
Flyer replaced Johnny Idol. Rudos took 2/3,
4) Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto © b Negro Casas, Puma, Tiger [MEX TRIOS]
11th defense. Casas family attacked the champs before the photo. Champs rallied to take 2/3, the last with Mepshtio beating Negro Casas.
5) Carístico, Mistico, Niebla Roja DQ Cavernario, Euforia, Shocker
Euforia fouled Niebla Roja

Disappointing but not surprising outcome. Puma has a YouTube channel now, maybe the match might turn up on there.

CMLL Friday night shows have return to Azteca (America). They’ve taken back the Lucha Azteca spot, which aired the matches up until September last year. It’s actually even better than it was before, because they had slipped to being a month behind when they aired and now are only about eight days back, the previous Friday’s show. There were rumors of this for about a week, but it wasn’t clear which Azteca station was getting it. It appears to only be Azteca in the US right now, and not Azteca in Mexico (which would obviously mean a lot more.)

Elite is the show being replaced here, and it’s unlikely we’ll hear any more about Elite outside of many their title belts floating around the indies. The promotion hasn’t existed in any meaningful way since the December tapings, and closed up their office some time back. They were really done by the time CMLL broke with them, and there was never at time it seemed to be going great for them – ok, maybe, but they gave themselves a tough task (running odd days shows at Arena Mexico when there’s already so many) and even being on Azteca7 didn’t seem to help them all that much. The good sign here is at least the US Azteca station liked lucha enough to bring back the CMLL show. There’s no guarantee the Mexico station will feel the same with having the sort of control of production that CMLL’s unlikely to give to them.

The Crash says they raised what they need for Nicho’s surgery and more with their show on Friday and it’s just now up to the doctors to set a date. They also announced the June 23 show will have an apuesta cage match and Lio Rush will debut.

Black Terry Jr. has photos from The Crash show on Saturday in Tijuana and the Arena Lopez Mateos show from Saturday. I’ll write about that show in more detail, as well as DTU, AAA and the shows I actually went to tomorrow.
