CMLL’s show tonight is an ordinary show, with nothing much on the line. Atlantis, Matt Taven & Valiente face the Guerreros (no UG) in the main event. The best match trios match of the night might be Drone, Guerrero Maya and Maximo versus Puma, Tiger and Terrible. Terrible & Maximo will probably wrestle a lot together, but I’d like to see Terrible face the other guys. Titan versus Bobby Villa will be a good lightning match. Esfinge, Soberano and Triton face Sagrado, Skandalo and Virus, which probably won’t break Triton’s win streak. Vaquerita, Sanely & Silueta are scheduled against Dalys, Metalica and Isis in the women’s match. (CMLL’s preview lists Princesa Sugehit, Skady & Jarochita vs Zeuxis, Amapola and Tiffany, which is Friday’s women’s match.) An all rookie match of Magia Blanca & Sangre Imperial versus El Coyote & Grako opens the show.

CultIcon previews the show. It starts 7:30pm local, though 8:30pm for people in the US. It’ll be on YouTube like normal.

Guadalajara has Caristico, Mistico and Volador against Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas. Hechicero replaces Dragon Rojo in the semimain. Dragon Rojo hasn’t indicated why he’s missing the show on his Twitter, but he is working on a Revolucionarios music video.

Okumura is headed back to Japan for treatment on his still injured neck.

Vampiro says he’s off of WrestleCon in Orlando this weekend because he’s decided to be at the Neza taping instead. Vampiro’s been announced for WrestleCon for months, and this Neza taping has been announced for over a month, but it’s portrayed as a conflict that just now came up. I dunno. AAA still isn’t saying anything about Mesias, who’s booked to be both in Orlando and Neza on Friday.

Record writes about Chilean Hector Chavez, who was part of the most recent La Llave de la Gloria tryout and brother of model/singer Daniella Chavez. She’s with Televisa, so AAA might have been encouraged to include Hector in the competition, but he looked pretty decent for a guy I hadn’t seen before in the tryout match. He was on the XMW show back on the 11th (and listed as Romeo there; not sure if that was a mistake or the name he normally wrestles under.)

Lucha Underground airs on Wednesday and Thursday this week on El Rey. It does not air Friday, maybe because that’s when Rey Mysterio Jr. hosts a series of short action films instead.

This news article mentions a match on Saturday’s The Crash show interrupted by a surprise performance of Tijuana’s ensemble vocal opera. The article says the crowd enjoyed it. There’s a little sideways video of this, making it more clear that it happened before the matches.

Veracruz’s Coliseo Fraternidad says Mascara Sagrada Jr. stole their title & Billy Boy stole their title. They only found this out because Sagrada & Billy had a title match for the allegedly stolen belt this past weekend in Arena Azteca Budokan.

LuchaRama on 04/08 in Mexico City

Mala Hierba actually teams up and Baku the lucha elephant returns, that’s already my favorite match of the entire LuchaRama.

LuchaWorld has this week’s Poster-Mania.

MDA Promotions, who usually only run in Monterrey, says they’re coming to Guadalajara on 06/18.

Hijo del Santo complained Televisa security wouldn’t let him in the door without unmasking. He later explained he knows there are rules, but they usually don’t apply to him.

Sam Adonis says the bad image Americans have of Mexico is wrong.

Lineups

IWRG (WED) 03/29/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Omega vs Keiser Drago
2) Cadilac vs Picudo Jr.
3) Kanon & Saruman vs Avisman & Skanda
4) Shadow Boy vs Lunatic Extreme
5) Camaleón, Hijo del Alebrije, Pantera I vs Cerebro Negro, Demonio Infernal, Heddi Karaoui
6) Golden Magic & Veneno vs Máscara Año 2000 Jr. & Relámpago

Main event is building towards Magic/Relampago. A couple of surprising names: Camaleon was a rarely seen opening match veteran in CMLL before getting hit by a truck in 2014 and suffering a leg injury. He’s recovered enough to wrestle on indie shows the last couple of years (and the Baby Camaleons around are his nephews, I believe.) Saruman was an indie name of note around 2012, most notable in Todo x el Todo, one of a few guys who were training in CMLL forever and seemed promising but never getting a shot in that promotion. He mostly disappeared after 2014 and I assumed he wasn’t coming back, but he’s excitedly talking up his return on his Facebook.

CMLL (MON) 04/03/2017 Arena Puebla
1) Arkalis & París vs El Malayo & Joker
2) Asturiano & Rey Samuray vs Cancerbero & Raziel
3) Espíritu Maligno, Fuego, Pegasso vs Disturbio, Policeman, Skándalo
4) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther vs Bobby Villa, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
5) Diamante Azul vs Pierroth
6) Atlantis, La Máscara, Rush vs Marco Corleone, Máximo Sexy, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Los Ingobernables having no friends leads to an odd main event. Azul/Pierroth wasn’t good in Arena Mexico and probably will be much worse in the rematches. Panthers versus Revolucinarios should at least be good. I presume the Joker in the rudo is actually Pequeno Joker and not the Guadalajara Joker.

  1. Promoter said it was Mascara Sagrada jr. that stole their belt. Said Billy Boy had no fault in it, just that he won a belt that Sagrada Jr. stole.
