Rush contra papas

Recapped: 03/10/2017

What happened: Diamante Azul won the main event in the record book, but was really just left unmasked and humiliated again. Niebla Roja & Dragon Lee and Marco Corleone & Sam Adonis have minor feuds going on, but the one between Misterioso & Soberano seems to be getting serious quick.

What was good: Most everything I got to see. The main event wasn’t much good (nor was it trying to be much good), but everything else we got to see was good. It lacked a standout match and we lost the Stuka/Bobby match due to streaming issues, but it was an overall enjoyable show.

Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel.

Match 1: Fuego & Soberano Jr. vs Misterioso Jr. & Sagrado
Arena México, 03/10/2017

  1. rudos
    • Sagrado nudo maldito Fuego (4:02)
    • Misterioso double powerbomb Soberano (4:40)
  2. técnicos
    • Soberano huracanrana Sagrado (2:30)
    • Soberano torito Misterioso (2:46)
  3. rudos
    • Fuego super huracanrana Sagrado (6:00)
    • Misterioso Gori Special Fuego (6:15)
    • Misterioso powerbomb feet on the ropes Soberano (6:35)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 14:01
Notes: Misterioso clearly cheated to win, clear to everyone else but the referee. He also unmasked Soberano after the match

Review: [good] the fans haven’t picked up on a feud (and aren’t used to picking up feud in the first match particularly), but the Misterioso/Soberano feuding building moments were really good. This didn’t quite have the energy of a bigger match, but they told their story well and Sagrado carrying Misterioso on his shoulders after an ill gained win was a nice touch. Soberano did a couple of really impressive things in this match and looked steady throughout. Misterioso is fine in his role. Sagrado continues to look great.

Match 2: Drone, Esfinge, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs El Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
Arena México, 03/10/2017

  1. NGD
    • Guerrero Maya Sacrifica Maya Forastero (4:26)
    • Cuatrero inside springboard elbow drop Drone (4:49)
    • Sanson springboard knee drop/Cuatrero powerbomb Esfinge (5:11)
  2. técnicos
    • Hombre Bala rope flip Spanish Fly Cuatrero (3:24)
    • Esfinge nudo egipico Sansón (3:34)
  3. NGD
    • Sansón & Cuatrero double suplex Guerrero Maya (7:43)

Winner: NGD (1/3)
Match Time: 15:39

Review: [good] another good action match, built around a lot of spots to let the Dinamtias show off, and of course they they did. The técnicos weren’t far behind, with Guerrero Maya looking like a wizard with the way he got in his move in the first fall and Drone having a overall good night. Esfinge was looking good when his moves came close to hitting; that spin kick has a not great hit rate. The last minute was great, with the big dive by the Cuatrero and Forastero slipping for his springboard. You could tell this was meant to be a match to put them over in a big way and everything else worked for that.

Match 3: Stuka Jr. vs Bobby Villa in a lightning match
Arena México, 03/10/2017

Winner: Stuka (super casadora bomb)
Match Time: 6:53
Notes: The feed stopped working for me during the entrances and I couldn’t get it worked well about a minute before the finish. Bobby was down hurting after the result.

Match 4: Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Volador Jr. vs Felino, Negro Casas, Sam Adonis
Arena México, 03/10/2017

  1. rudos
    • Felino crucifix cradle Volador (3:27)
    • Sam Adonis Fisherman’s suplex Marco Corleone (3:56)
  2. técnicos
    • Air Corleone on Sam Adonis & Felino (1:44)
  3. técnicos
    • Atlantis casadora cardle Negro Casas (4:09)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 9:49

Review: [good] Professional semimain match, with them playing off each other and the crowd well. Marco & Sam feuding gave it a bit more direction than these matches usually get. There was entertaining comedy; Marco’s done this stuff with Felino & Casas before, but it feels like it’s been a while sine it was done (or at least done this well.) This was the biggest move match, and Volador had a lot easier night than usual, but it was still worthwhile.

Match 5: Dragón Lee, Mistico, Valiente vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Arena México, 03/10/2017

  1. Guerreros
    • Niebla Roja Furia Roja Dragn Lee (4:30)
    • Euforia half crab Valiente (4:39)
  2. técnicos
    • Mistica on Último Guerrero (1:34)
  3. Guerreros
    • Último Guerreor pulpo guerrero Valiente (5:59)
    • Euforia Soberana Mistico (5:59)

Winner: Guerreros (1/3)
Match Time: 12:12

Review: [good] The reliable strong match on between these two teams. The Niebla Roja/Dragon Lee stuff was really hard hitting, and makes me want really to see that match. Mistico looked super in his entire match, and a lot of the sequences were well done. It felt like there even more big spots when I went back to watch it, with the técnicos just getting a showcase all match before they took loss. There’s a chance this is better than next week’s trios title match.

Match 6: Carístico, Diamante Azul, Máximo Sexy vs La Máscara, Pierroth, Rush
Arena México, 03/10/2017

  1. técnicos
    • Máximo inside cradle La Mascara (5:19)
    • Carístico inside cradle Máximo (5:19)
  2. técnicos
    • DQ Pierroth [box shot on Diamante Azul] (3:22)

Winner: técnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 8:41
Notes: Los Ingobernables came thru the crowd to beat up Diamante Azul. Rush stole a tray of potato chips from a vendor, and Pierroth hit Azul with it. He hit Tirantes too, and they took Azul’s mask.

Review: [below average] this really kind of dragged but it was successful in doing the big spots to put over the rudos strong so I guess that’s OK. They did a bit of the brawling and gimmickery which might work for a mask match, but they also had La Mascara & Rush carrying most of the action (when the minis weren’t interfering.) I can’t imagine ever wanting to see this match again but it wasn’t as bad as next week’s going to be.

Pierroth can’t help but look to see if there’s anyone behind him before taking the bump
finally, Pierroth doesn’t catch the dive when he’s not supposed to
tecnicos probably should’ve rethought these

  1. The Mainevent was good, just give the old guy and the blue guy some credit for trying pretty hard the last weeks. The won’t have a classic but they will have a intense fight for their masks. Beating people with bags of snacks is better than chairshots!
