Lucha Memes, Pierrothito advances in minis tournament

CMLL (SAT) 02/18/2017 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Bengala, Flyer, Leono b Akuma, Camorra, Cholo
tecnicos took 1/3
2) Estrellita, La Jarochita, Princesa Sugehit b Amapola, La Comandante, Zeuxis
Tecnicas took 2/3. Sugehit beat Zeuxis to set up a title match next week.
3) Blue Panther, Drone, Tritón b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Vangellys
Tecnicos took 2/3. Dragon Rojo was hurt at the end of the match, but said he was OK later on.
4) Titán, Valiente, Volador Jr. b Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Rey Bucanero
Volador replaced Caristico. Tecnicos took 2/3.
5) Último Guerrero DQ Rush
UG took 2/3, Rush for the DQ.

CMLL was probably pretty aware Caristico was missing all the shows this weekend whenever they sent Volador in his place for the Lucha Libre Boom show, but decided to make no effort to announce substitutions on their own shows this weekend or even acknowledge that changes were being made.

CMLL (SUN) 02/19/2017 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Artillero & Inquisidor b Robin & Sensei
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Fuego, Magnus, Starman b Arkángel de la Muerte, Metálico, Nitro
tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Pierrothito b Eléctrico, Pequeño Astro, Stukita, Fugaz, Aéreo, Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Universo 2000, Espíritu Maligno [CMLL MINI, #1 Contenders]
Arena Mexico debuts for Fugaz (Guadalajara), Aereo (Puebla) and Espiritu Magino (Puebla – he’d wrestled in Arena Coliseo prior.) Rudos vs tecnicos. Eliminations: Pequeno Universo (Fugaz), Aereo (Espiritu Maligno), Pequeno Violencia (Astro; each of the new guys got a pinfall to start), Fugaz (Mercurio), Espiritu Maligno (Stukita), Astro (Pierroth; each of the new guys pinned in the same sequence), Mercurio & Electrico (DDQ), and Pierrothito beat Stukita to advance. He’ll face next week’s winner on 03/05
4) Ángel de Oro, Johnny Idol, Stuka Jr. b Bobby Villa, Felino, Misterioso Jr.
5) Atlantis, Máximo Sexy, Mistico DQ Cavernario, Ephesto, Mephisto
Mistico replaced Caristico, Cavernario fouled him for the DQ.

Neither of those guys – or Caristico – are booked next week, so the main event DQ was just to do a DQ.

The lineup for next week has another minis cibernetico, so this was one of those times where CMLL just doesn’t explain what they were doing. Pierrothito and Pequeno Violencia are calling themselves the Pequeno Ingobernables now.

Lucha Memes (SUN) 02/19/2017 Coliseo Coacalco, Coacalco, Estado de México [@TKD_117, +LuchaTV]
1) Demasiado & Diva Salvaje b Baby Star & Black Metal
2) Corsario Negro Jr. & Drako b Totem I & Totem II
money thrown in
3) Demus 3:16 b Astrolux
Astrolux looked good before Demus destroyed him.
4) Virus b Belial
very good match
5) Black Terry & Negro Navarro © b El Cuatrero & Sansón [Arena Coliseo TAG]
first defense. Good match.
6) Alas de Acero & Iron Kid © b Dragón Negro & Sádico [EdM TAG]
Crazy match.
7) Yoshitatsu b Aramis
Short match. Aramis looked good.
8) Hechicero b Ronnie Mendoza
best match on the show

Sounds like it was a fun show. Hechicero/Mendoza seems like an obvious pick for one of the VOD matches, but they could go with a few different choices for match 2.

Jocay took a Periscope of Penta vs Rey Horuz from New York today.

Vampiro says AAA sold out their show in Tijuana on Sunday. Elegido says they sold out in Morelos today.

Konnan & Zorro showed up as a surprises on tonight’s Arena Coliseo Monterrey show, helping out Garza Jr. Konnan talked about “cleaning up the damage other wrestling promoters have done” with the Crash and independents. The big group appearance of La Rebelion in Monterrey is tomorrow.

Mistico was scheduled for a show in Autlautla, Estado de Mexico, but says he canceled due to not getting payment from the promoter.

Trauma II appeared for the first time in months at a show in Iraputo.

Takashi Sasaki and Daisuke Masaoka are announced for the DTU show on 03/24 in Arena Aficiona 03/26 show in Tulancingo. As mentioned on the podcast, there’s a really good chance that 03/24 DTU show is another iPPV.

AAA posted this week’s TV show.

Garza Jr. is interviewed on this week’s The Dave Dynasty show.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report.

Tampico luchador Relampago Gutierrez passed away.

Lineup

CMLL (SUN) 02/26/2017 Arena México
1) Magia Blanca, Magnus, Oro Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Sangre Azteca, Skándalo
2) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., Johnny Idol vs Felino, Luciferno, Tiger
3) Último Dragóncito vs Fantasy, Aéreo, Shockercito, Reiko, Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Relámpago, Pequeño Joker [cibernetico, CMLL MINI, #1 Contenders]
4) Ángel de Oro, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Vangellys
5) Marco Corleone, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero

Released in Box Y Lucha, may change when it’s posted on CMLL’s website. More outside names in the minis match. Reiko and Relampago are from Guadalajara, there may be confusingly two different Relampagos wrestling in Guadalajara, or this one wrestles indie shows too. Pequeño Joker is usually Mini Joker in Puebla. (The original CMLL minis used “Mini”, CMLL switched to Pequeño after that group left for AAA.) Ultimo Dragoncito & Shockercito are the two obvious favorites. CMLL wasn’t afraid to do a tecnico/tecnico minis title match previously, so a rudo/rudo final isn’t out of the question.

como estaz 4×11: Terry’s friend Gersom

(this is not Gersom)

Rob & TKD are back in Mexico, and they bring along Black Terry Jr. and Gersom of Sensacional de Luchadors to talk about the shows they’ve seen the first couple days of the trip. I ask questions along the way. There’s discussing of the Friday night Lucha Libre Boom show, Juventued Guerrera’s Super X show (with a strange referee), and Saturday night in Arena Coliseo. Plus, we talk with Gersom about how got into filming lucha libre and discuss how we think the current rise in paid lucha libre content is going to work out. The podcast runs just about two hours.
