Relampago dethrones Imposible, AAA in Toluca, CMLL Puebla tonight

CMLL (SUN) 01/22/2017 Arena México [CMLL]
1) El Coyote & Grako b Marvel & Sangre Imperial
Marvel’s first match in Mexico City since September.
2) Astral, Fantasy, Stukita b Mercurio, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000
Astral wins in his final minis match
3) La Jarochita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit b Dalys, Reyna Isis, Zeuxis
4) Blue Panther, Johnny Idol, Valiente b Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Ripper
5) Carístico, Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone DQ Pierroth, Shocker, Terrible
Pierroth fouled Diamante Azul.

CMLL has 200 people and they’re doing a Pierroth/Diamante Azul feud. At least it’s on the not-taped show

IWRG (SUN) 01/22/2017 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV]
1) Cadilac b Keshin Black
2) Adrenalina b Omega
3) Demonio Infernal b Freelance, Aramis, Araña de Plata, Black Dragón
Aramis & Demonio Infernal submitted Arana de Plata at the same time, which the commission decided wasn’t a finish. Those three continued until Demonio Infernal beat Aramis. Eterno returned to IWRG after the match, looking to start a group with Demonio.
4) Eterno, Killer Jr., Oficial 911, X-Fly b Freelance, Mike, Rafy, Teelo
Prior to the match, Hip Hop Man announced a show on Wednesday featuring his group of foreigners against Mexicans. 911 & Eterno (first match since) replaced AK47 & Fierro, Freelance replaced Leo.
5) Apolo Estrada Jr., Heddi Karaoui, Herodes Jr. b Dragón Fly, Emperador Azteca, Veneno
Herodes beat Veneno.
6) Pirata Morgan & Pirata Morgan Jr. b Golden Magic & Mr. Electro
Pirata Jr. gave Golden Magic a martinete and Pirata Sr. fouled Mr. Electro
7) Relámpago b Imposible [IWRG IC MIDDLE]
Listed as without referee. Relampago pulled Imposible’s mask to win. Imposible falls on his fifth defense and now wants a mask match with Relampago.

That’s a sudden way to end Imposible’s two title championship run, but I’d guess it’s probably not the end of it

CMLL is back in Puebla tonight, with the final show before the FantasticaMania crew starts to filter back in. There’s no general storyline, but the main event is weirdly a rematch from last week. Johnny Idol, Marco Corleone, and Valiente wrestle La Mascara, Mascara 2000 and Vangellys. I can recall no controversy or reason to have a rematch, which seems like poor planning. Maybe they were setting up a Mascara 2000/Marco Corleone match? I dunno.

The rest of the show is similarly randomly assigned matches. TGR fight Angel de Oro, Blue Panther and Diamante Azul. The returning Esfinge teams with Fuego and Guerrero Maya and Kraneo, Olimpico and Ripper. The minis are back, though a different combination than last week. Acero, Aereo and Asturiano face Espiritu Maligno, Mini Joker and Pierrothito; hopefully AAA will finally have a good night. The opener is Lestat, Rey Smauray and Zaeta vs King Jaguar, Rey Apocalipsis and the debuting Hijo del Perverso.

The show airs at 9pm on CMLL’s YouTube channel. You might want to wait and see on this one.

AAA had a press conference in Toluca. It’s their normal deal before a lot of TV tapings, to get a day of attention to help ticket sales while generally giving vanilla quotes. It was a little different today, because this is the first AAA event since Pentagon, Daga and Garza left time. Psycho Clown & Texano both stuck with what appears to be the AAA public position: they wish those guys success elsewhere, but have no plans of leaving themselves because AAA is the best place to be. The promoted indicated he has not yet been told of who will replace those three guys, who were all scheduled for the card. There is a TripleMania press conference tomorrow, where we may get a little more information. We’ll probably get a lot more on Konnan’s next podcast.

DTU has a run of shows in Veracruz from 02/17 to 02/19.

San Luis Potosi luchador Super Star Jr. passed away.

Lineups

IWRG (WED) 01/25/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Ángel Oriental, Rey Dinámico, Voltar vs Guerrero 2000, Kira, Último Caballero
2) Cadilac, Kesier Drago, Shadow Boy vs Águila Enmascarada, Araña de Plata, Atomic Star
3) Blue Monsther, Kanon, Vardues vs Acero, Keshin Black, Vampiro Metálico
4) Dragón Fly vs Ribe (Argentina) [AIWA ARGENTINA CRUISER]
5) Aramis, Black Dragón, Demonio Infernal, Emperador Azteca, Freelance, Hijo del Alebrije, X-Fly vs Dowki, Heddi Karaoui, Hip Hop Man, Mosca (Argentina), Picudo Jr., Taylor Wolf, Yakuza [Copa Higher Power]
Torneo FILL 56, FILL vs Legion Extranjera

Wednesday shows are back! For at least one week, anyway. If this was Japan, they might call it a Hip Hop Man Produce show, since he’s bringing together all sort of foreigners for this one show. Mosca & Ribe have been around for at least a week working indie shows. Taylor Wolf has been working around Ciudad Victoria for months. Picudo is from Puerto Rico, at least for the purposes of this match.

CMLL (SAT) 01/28/2017 Arena Coliseo
1) Magia Blanca & Marvel vs El Coyote & Grako
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragóncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
3) Oro Jr., Pegasso, Soberano Jr. vs Nitro, Sangre Azteca, Skándalo
4) Ángel de Oro, Fuego, Stuka Jr. vs Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero

Sky Team versus Guererros in a non-title match. CMLL’s actually remembering to book the Revolucionarios together, which is so unlike them. So much for yesterday being Astral’s last minis match.

CMLL (SUN) 01/29/2017 Arena México
1) Leono & Sensei vs Artillero & Inquisidor
2) La Jarochita, Marcela, Skadi vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Reyna Isis
3) Rey Cometa, Soberano Jr., Tritón vs Bobby Z, Felino, Virus
4) Ángel de Oro, Titán, Valiente vs Mephisto, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
5) Atlantis, Carístico, Diamante Azul vs La Máscara, Negro Casas, Pierroth

Diamante Azul & Pierroth matched up again. Soberano sneaks into a tercera. I don’t suspect his spot will be all that much changed by his FantasticaMania performance but it’d be nice.
