19:24. Rudos took 1/3. In the third, Bucanero lifted Titan up, Titan started to lean back for a huracanrana reversal, but Bucanero powerbombed him instead. Titan landed hard on the back of head and was put in a neck brace.

25:01. Luchadoras had to wait three minutes to escape. Order of escape: Amapola, Metalica, Sanely, Dalys, La Jarochita, Marcela, Estrellita, Princesa Sugehit, leaving Vaquerita & Zeuxis. Vaquerita had a chance to escape but did a big plancha onto Sugehit and Zeuxis instead. Zeuxis beat Vaquerita with la Dulzura to win. Vaquerita is Isabel Ordóñez, 15 years a wrestler (no age given.)

Last couple minutes of the main event were good, but otherwise this show was less than you would’ve expected, and the expectations weren’t that high. The turnout wasn’t great either. CMLL kept the lights low all night, but the glimpses we got showed the building looking emptier than a usual Friday night show. It looked like a higher percentage of fans were back in the cheap seats too, probably due to the high ticket price. (And, for what it’s worth, the show didn’t end until it was already half time of the soccer game.)

+LuchaTV has video of post match interviews with Vaquerita and Zeuxis. Vaquerita says she’s lost her mask but not her career and will keep fighting.

There’s no official word on Titan’s condition, but a person on his Facebook says he’s “out of danger”.

Not a lot of reviews of the show, just a mention that the cage match was good.

Besides allied promotion NJPW title changes, the last non-CMLL title changes for a CMLL title would have to be the CMLL Super Lightweight championship in 2005/2006. CMLL had forgotten or didn’t care that Rocky Romero still was champion when they stopped booking him, and he did a title back and forth on his own in the California in the ideas. The Terry/Navarro win seems like a fun idea, with an assumption that they’ll probably just lose it back in a couple months to a different CMLL team. (And, to this point, CMLL hasn’t acknowledged the change.) However, Daniel Ledesma of Lucha Memes is pushing it as the start of a new era of a Memes/CMLL alliance, with CMLL luchadors and independent luchadors facing off more often, and says CMLL’s already decided on when they’ll have Terry & Navarro in for their first defense. CMLL seemingly being OK with Cavernario working the Chairo show instead of their own does suggest they’re pretty tight at the moment.

Caristico unmasked Histeria in Tijuana. Histeria was announced as Alfonso Pena. There’s no word if he’ll keep going.

Puebla tonight has nothing special. The main event is a rematch from last week, with La Mascara, Marco Corleone, Maximo versus Ephesto, Mephisto, Volador, seeming to set up a Mascara/Volador match. The semimain is scheduled to be Atlantis, Johnny Idol and Stuka versus Felino, Negro Casas and Mr. Niebla, but Niebla is no sure bet to make it after missing last night’s show. The tercera is Drone, Fuego, and Stigma against Okumura, Sagrado and Skandalo. Lestat, Rey Samuray and Robin face Disturbio, Espanto Jr., Policeman in the second match, and Asturiano & Paris open against Malayo & Espiritu Maligno. There’s really nothing to write about these matches. The show will air at 9pm on CMLL.com and YouTube.

Miedo Extremo recaptured the DTU Championship from Masashi Takeda on Freedom’s show earlier today. Violento Jack lost King of Freedom World Championship back to Daisuke Masaoka in the main event. Both luchadors are headed back to Mexico now.

A long interview with Black Power and Black Power Jr. from Ciudad Victoria. The older one reveals he got his name from football players shouting the slogan in the “Remember the Titans” movie.

Segunda Caida reviews Black Magic & Negro Casas vs Brazo de Oro & Brazo de Plata.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 01/01/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Black Dragón & Fireman vs Adrenalina & Skanda
2) Alfa & Omega vs Araña de Plata & Demonio Infernal
3) Danny Casas, Dragón Fly, Veneno vs Killer Jr., Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Mr. Electro, Tinieblas Jr. vs Hijo De Dos Caras, Negro Navarro, Pirata Morgan
5) Imposible vs Relámpago, Golden Magic, Pirata Morgan [cage, mask, prison fatal]

Prison Fatal is the IWRG match where everyone’s changed to the cage, and must first fight to get a key to unchain themselves before they escape. There’s one obvious loser of the four.

Semimain is Tinieblas’ first appearance on an IWRG show in about 2.5 shows. He doesn’t seem to work many shows he’s not promoting nowadays. Alfa is back for the first time since September.

CMLL (SUN) 01/01/2017 Arena México
1) Astral, Stukita, Último Dragóncito vs Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pierrothito
2) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Bobby Z, Pólvora, Ripper
3) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Stuka Jr. vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
4) Carístico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Mephisto
5) Máximo vs Máscara Año 2000 [hair]

No changes from the announced lineup. Fourth match might be the best one on the show. That main event is going to be a thing. The best case is Maximo works really hard to make it a below average match and he wins, but a terrible match and Mascara 2000 winning is in play.

CMLL (SUN) 01/01/2017 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Avispón Negro Jr. & Micro vs Guerrero de la Muerte & Quca
2) Cosmos, El Alteño, Explosivo vs Diplomático, Relámpago, Thunder Boy
3) Mágico, Magnum, Metatrón, Vaquero Jr. vs Frezzer, Furia Roja, Mosco X Fly, Sádico
4) Javier Cruz Jr. vs Gran Kenut [hair]
5) Esfinge & Gallo © vs Exterminador & Maléfico [OCCIDENTE TAG]

I’m not really sure the point of the Occident Tag Team titles, but it’d make sense for the rudos to win if there were any plans for them, since Esfinge isn’t around much (and Gallo’s just back from being exiled.) Fourth match are the two guys who were feuding who weren’t in the cage match. Frezzer was the big cage match loser, and appears as though he’ll be a rudo going forward.
