CMLL Tuesday results, Lucha Underground preview

I’m cold so I posted this in hopes it’d subconsciously warm me up

CMLL (TUE) 12/13/2016 Arena México
1) Fantasy & Último Dragóncito b Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia LUCHA LIBRE MARTES DE NUEVOS VALORES EN LA ARENA MEXICO 13 DE DICIEMBRE DEL 2016 (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)

5) Ephesto b Guerrero Maya Jr. LUCHA LIBRE MARTES DE NUEVOS VALORES EN LA ARENA MEXICO 13 DE DICIEMBRE DEL 2016 (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Ephesto took 2/3. Ephesto’s finish looked botched (Maya’s shoulder was up for the entire count.)
6) Dragón Lee, Stuka Jr., Volador Jr. b Hechicero, Luciferno, Mephisto LUCHA LIBRE MARTES DE NUEVOS VALORES EN LA ARENA MEXICO 13 DE DICIEMBRE DEL 2016 (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)

The semifinal had a crazy Ephesto bump, Maya trying to dive into the front row (but not quite making it), and not a lot more. The main event was the usual hurried Tuesday match. The team I thought would win did win, but no challenges. I was okay with Ephesto winning when I thought it was going to lead to something. Much like the rest of this show, it led nowhere.

CMLL has a press conference today around noon. They’re expected to announce their holiday schedule and matches. CMLL has an article talking about the women feuding. It comes off as a setup for a cage match. Every time they play up Dalys and Zeuxis being friends, I wonder if they’ll be caught together in the cage at the end.

The website also has a few changes. Triton returns to CMLL DF cards on Saturday. He & Stigma replace Fuego & Oro, with Forastero replacing Skandalo on the other side of the tercera. Mr. Niebla, usually the one being replaced, fills in for Rey Bucanero in the semifinal. Guerrero Maya replaces Johnny Idol in the semifinal on Sunday.

Lucha Underground episode today is 3×14, “En La Sombras”. This episode has nothing to do with Andrade Almas. Matches on the show

  • A Battle of the Bulls Semifinal with Mariposa, Jeremiah Crane, Killshot and Dante Fox Jeremiah Crane (intros)
  • A Battle of the Bulls Semifinal with Angelico, Jack Evans, Son of Havoc and PJ Black (photo)
  • Drago versus Kobra Moon
  • Dragon Azteca checks on Rey Mysterio Jr.
  • someone plays mind games on Sexy Star

The LU writers have hyped that first match as being really good, and reports live had it as the best match of the four semifinals. That surprised me, because I’d expect the second match to be better given the people involved.

CultIcon previews this show.

Over on Voices of Wrestling, I wrote a preview of the DTU iPPV, which maybe turned into more about the context of DTU running an IPPV. Ciclope talked about the barbed wire match on the show.

+Lucha has the latest edition of their En+Carados podcast, including an interview with Rafy.

Aerostar mentions Nino Hamburguesa was hurt last night on AAA’s spot show. Nino Hamburguesa or Nino de Ebano would be entertaining as the surprise luchador on the DTU show, but there’s no hint they’re coming and neither may be healthy right now.

LuchaWorld has this week’s Lucha Report.

Luchas 2000 #853 has Caristico & Histeria on the cover.

AIW put up a Laredo Kid versus Big Damo for free. I’m catching a lot of Laredo while doing the catch up posts, and he’s consistently so good. He feels underrated because he doesn’t have a home (outside of AIW!) but he’s had a really strong 2016 if you connect all the pieces. We still haven’t seen his falls count anywhere match with Rey Cometa, and that might be as good as anything.

CaraLucha has a hype video for Volador vs Flamita vs Fenix.

Bull Power unmasked Diavolo in Arena Aficion. No name given.

Seattle Weekly writes about the local indie promotions, including Lucha Libre Volcana, mentioning five wrestlers are planning on going to Mexico next year.

A brief article on a wrestling benefit show in Argentina, and a toy drive sponsored by Cholitas in Bolivia.

Pentagon Jr. wrestles in Wisconsin on 01/13.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 12/18/2016 Arena Naucalpan

2) Danny Casas, Emperador Azteca, Freelance vs Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro
3) Imposible & Pantera I vs Killer Jr. & Relámpago
4) Máscara Año 2000 Jr. © vs Pirata Morgan [IWRG Rey del Ring]

6) Trauma I © vs Mr. Electro [IWRG IC HEAVY]

This show is in honor of the 9th anniversary of promotion founder Adolfo Moreno. They should have a couple more anniversary shows in next few weeks, which is what the tercera seem to be setting up. The main event is working off the idea that the final last week was controversial enough to set up a rematch. Hijo de Dos Caras being booked suggests the situation with his brother isn’t serious enough to stop using the rest of his family. Hip Hop Man is back quick.

CMLL (TUE) 12/20/2016 Arena México
1) Bengala & Leono vs Camorra & Cholo
2) Príncipe Diamante, Sensei, Star Jr. vs Cancerbero, Nitro, Raziel
3) Drone, Fuego, Pegasso vs El Cuatrero, Sansón, Skándalo
4) Rey Cometa vs Bobby Z [lightning]
5) Guerrero Maya Jr., Johnny Idol, Titán vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
6) Ángel de Oro, Marco Corleone, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Felino, Negro Casas

Peste Negra in the main event. The tercera is probably worse than usual since Skandalo got involved. It feels like they’re running out the same lineup every Tuesday, even though there’s some changes. Can Bobby Z pass for a welterweight?

CMLL (TUE) 12/20/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Magia Blanca & Metatrón vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Flyer, Magnum, Robin vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Infierno, Metálico
3) Esfinge, Soberano Jr., Stigma vs Disturbio, Okumura, Virus
4) Carístico, Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, La Máscara, Niebla Roja
5) Valiente vs Último Guerrero

It’s possible CMLL was mocked enough to not make this Valiente/UG a title match, but it’ll likely be the same match. If they really want to troll, Valiente actually lands the moonsault and wins off it.
