CMLL Puebla: 2016-12-05

something interesting almost happens!

Recapped: 12/06/2016

What happened: Valiente beat Último Guerrero, twice, to set up a title shot next week.

What was good: Every single match was rated OK, which is not a positive show and not a really great help to you. Most were towards the upwards level of OK, flawed but with some value. Third match was the best match of the night for me.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

    • Asutirano huracanrana King Jaguar (3:23)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 12:02

Review: [ok] I have one question about this match: is Malayo color blind? This green shirt and light blue outfit combination was not good, and his catch of Asturiano was even worse. That hold second fall came to an end bad, with Millneium, tope con giro into the ring looking badly timed or not far enough too. The other two falls were better, with the first fall being fast paced if not that complicated, and moves getting a little more impressive to close the match, and Arkalis generally having one of his best nights. The second fall makes it harder to recommend but this was at least more interesting than a normal opener.

Winner: rudos (1/2)
Match Time: 12:04
Notes: Cuatrero & Sansón have their own t-shirts.

Review: [ok] totally okay with this being two falls. Black Tiger & Tigre Rojo Jr. didn’t do anything worth remembering in the first fall and Flyer had a hilarious botch, so moving on quick is for the best. Policeman did fine setting up his partners. This being a rare clean two fall in for the rudos only helps them.

Match 3: Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa, Stigma vs Disturbio, Hechicero, Virus

  3. técnicos
    • Guerrero Maya suasitca Hechicero (5:32)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 18:49

Review: [ok] Hechicero was the star of the match, easily. The rudo fans were loving Hechicero kicking Stigma and rows of seats over. Hechicero did well bullying the local técnico and being scared of Stigma when he got his comeback. He also somehow was the best opponent for Maya too. Disturbio looked alright, but this seemed like an offnight for Virus (and he was thrown off by Stigma suddenly jumping into the fight in the third fall.)

Stigma handled easily

Match 4: Ángel de Oro, Marco Corleone, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Sam Adonis, Shocker

  2. técnicos
    • Marco Corleone inside cradle Shocker (1:42)
  3. rudos
    • Sam Adonis swinging slam Angel de Oro (4:55)
    • Euforica Special on Stuka Jr. (5:40)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 10:48

Review: [ok] I’m rating everything the same due to lack of creativity, but this was the least match of the night for me. Sam Adonis and Marco seemed to be having the most fun, it was just a match to get thru for everyone else. Adonis putting a headlock on the much shorter Stuka Jr. is an odd visual. His finishing bit with Angel de Oro did seem to bring out something in the técnico, maybe that needs to be explored more. The only other time Oro looked interested was when he hurried to the back within five seconds of the final pin. Shocker really needs to stop using the spear, or whatever he’s doing that looks like a low impact spear.

Match 5: Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, La Máscara, Último Guerrero

  1. rudos
    • La Mascara kick Volador (2:36)
    • La Mascara double knee smash Mistico (2:51)
  2. técnicos
    • Valiente Indian Deathlock Último Guerrero (2:23)
  3. técnicos
    • Valiente Indian Deathlock Último Guerrero (3:41)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 8:55
Notes: Valiente wore pants! A far worse decision was trying to attack the rudos as they entered, which just got the Sky Team beat up. No opening whistle. They feuded the entire match. Valiente challenges for a title match next week. Último Guerrero made fun of how many chances Valiente’s already had at this title, but accepted.

Review: [ok] Every Sky Team match in Puebla ever, with the addition of Último Guerrero going for Guerrero chants in his feud against Valiente. Gran Guerrero and La Mascara were sufficient rudos, but Volador and Valiente were in greatest hits mode and not much more. They built Valiente up strong this week. He’s going to lose so badly next week. UG did seem to be moving slowly in the late stages of the match and was limping after (though that might have been selling.)

Mascara wiping out Mistico is fun
