Pequeno Nitro runs himself into the corner very hard, which is what watching this show feels like

Recapped: 11/30/2016

What happened: Ephesto cheated to beat Guerrero Maya.

What was good: Fourth match was best, but nothing was really worth slowing down to watch.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

    • Sensei cross armbeaker Apocalipsis (2:44)
    • Bengala octopus cradle Drako (3:32)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 12:04
Review: [below average] A yawn inducing match. Apocalipsis lost because he tried a senton, Sensei moved, and calmly put on an armbar. It did not exactly light the world on fire. Drako fit in well in this match, which is not a compliment. He’s got generic gear and generic offense and only showed personality begging off.

Match 2: Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragóncito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 18:08

Review: [ok] coming back to this after watching Lucha Undergorund was not an optimal situation. I may not have been perfectly happy with that show, but that made me feel something. This was clinically solid wrestling which generated no emotion at all. There wasn’t the intensity of a bigger match, but they didn’t mail it either. Astral seemed a step slow early on; whether it’s his injury (his thigh was wrapped in Dragon Rojo style) or still be drained from bodybuilding, he didn’t have the same energy he might have otherwise. He was limping after the match too.

Match 3: Fuego vs Forastero in a lightning match

Winner: Fuego (La Guelaguetza)
Match Time: 7:01

Review: [ok] This was Forastero’s first CMLL singles match and it showed at time; he didn’t have a lot of offense and most of it revolved around spinning oddly. Still, he showed enough promise and kept up with Fuego’s usual spots. Maybe this is just good because I didn’t have to deal with Arkangel, and I’d prefer someone new stuff over stuff I’ve not good stuff I’ve gotten bored with.

Match 4: Oro Jr., Pegasso, Star Jr. vs Misterioso Jr., Olímpico, Sagrado

Arena México, 11/29/2016

VideosOficialesCMLL

  1. rudos
    • Misterioso Rosa Driver Oro Jr. (3:31)
    • Sagrado elbow drop Star Jr. (3:42)
  2. técnicos
    • Pegasso huracanrana (2:37)
    • Star Jr. armbar Olímpico (2:42)
  3. rudos
    • Misterioso hammerlock Pegasso (6:27)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 12:51
Notes: Announcers debated about Olimpico’s half mask; JCR defended it, since we could see half his face. The clueless referee counts a pinfall on Pegasso as he’s submitting, and not the two people are him who are getting pinned.

Review: [ok] I swear Misterioso & Sagrado are on two of the three live shows every week. And that’s part of the problem; this was again a solidly done match, but it’s hard to point out at the one factor that makes this match stick out over so many similar ones for people to watch. I think this is perfectly enjoyable if you’re not fatigued, but it’s not especially better than any of their other matches. The referee blowing the finish isn’t any that unique feature I was looking for. Oro Jr.’s dive was the best thing he’s done for a while, so he got dropped very ugly on his head in the third fall.

Match 5: Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Pierroth
Arena México, 11/29/2016
Video:
VideosOficialesCMLL

  1. rudos
    • Pierroth middle rope elbow Guerrero Maya (6:16)
    • Luciferno armbar Blue Panther (6:42)
  2. rudos
    • Ephesto shoulderbreaker Rey Cometa (3:07)
    • Guerrero Maya huracanrana Luciferno (3:39)
    • Ephesto foul Guerrero Maya (4:13)

Winner: rudos (2/0)
Match Time: 10:55

Review: [below average] rudos cut off the técnicos early so they wouldn’t have to do much, rudos didn’t do much with the control, and Luciferno had an awful looking Styles Clash on Blue Panther. The técnicos did a bit in the second fall, but this wasn’t much good at all, a disappointing effort and an unpromising rematch for next week.

Did Pierroth get hit by the dive? was he supposed to move? Sucked for Cometa either way

    • Ripper senton Angel de Oro (3:09)
    • Shocker elbow drop Dragon Lee (3:41)
  2. técnicos
    • Mistico La Mistica Shocker (2:28)
  3. rudos
    • Vangellys northern lights suplex Dragon Lee (6:39)
    • Shocker tirabuzon cradle Angel de Oro (6:39)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 12:48

Review: [ok] just another one to the pile. Tecnicos do some interesting things but aren’t allowed to do it for long, and then lose at the end because it’s a boring Tuesday show. The dives were nice. Shocker reacting to strikes that were a safe distance away from him were nice. I didn’t get much more of this.
