Recapped: 11/16/2016

What happened: The OGT continue to dominate the show: they cost the Apaches another match again, they cheated to beat the Xinetez again (with some help from Tirantes.) Psycho Clown and Dr. Wagner had a match, but didn’t have a finish.

What was good: Nothing. The matches are clearly building up the big feuds, but the matches themselves aren’t any good.

Where can I watch it: It’s on AAA’s channel, even if I haven’t gotten around to linking to it yet.

Match 1: El Apache, Faby Apache, Mary Apache vs Mamba, Mocho Cota Jr., Soul Rocker

Winner: rudos (Mamba COR over Faby)
Match Time: 8:52
Notes: Mocho Cota’s photo has not been updated since the last time he was a regular, so he’s still pictured as a member of the long defunct La Milica. The shirt Mocho Cota is now wearing is much better. Tirantes is referee because of course.

About five minutes in, with the rudos having taken control of the match, the OGT wander out with chairs and refreshments to watch the matches. El Apache, working like a total técnico, makes a chop related comeback a few minutes later. Faby gets Mamba with Devil’s Wings, Tirantes is busy fooling around with OGT at first, then turns around to count, counts two and acts like he was pulled out even though there wasn’t anyone there. Averno tries throwing his drink at Faby, but it’s missed timed – she’s running away as it happens, and then Averno misses again when trying to trip Faby. That’s enough to distract her, and he goes out to chase the OGT while grabbing a chair. Tirantes rapidly counts out Faby, getting to twenty in about eight, and Apache and Mary are unable to get back in the ring from dives in time. (They’ve been done for about a minute, there’s no real reason they shouldn’t be able to get back.) The OGT get away, and the Apaches chase the rest of the rudos and Tirantes out of the ring.

Review: [ok] totally forgettable match with another OGT/interference bit as an ending. The Apaches didn’t really do anything interesting in the match and the rudos weren’t much better. I’m not sure if the OGT forgot to pull Tirantes or if Tirantes though pretending to be pulled out would be a good fake bit (but why you fake cheating when cheating is allowed? It’s normal AAA nonsense.) The visual of OGT eating popcorn and watching the match was fun, but I’d rather watch something else and eat popcorn.

Match 2: Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Zorro vs Averno, Chessman, Ricky Marvin

Winner: OGT (Marvin inside cradle Zorro)
Match Time: 9:34
Notes: The Xinetez rush the ring, causing the OGT to flee to avoid the cane. Hijo del Tirantes holds them back and the OGT advantage early, going as far as trapping Zorro in a La Niebla so Averno can take a photo with a selfie stick. Zorro makes his own técnico comeback soon after, aided with his partners thrown him the cane. (Zorro crawls for the tag, catches the cane, fights off Averno, and the camera then miss him finally making the tag.) The Xinetez get their reverse by covering Averno’s mouth with a sticker and taking their own selfie. It turns back around when Cuervo topes Scoria, with Ricky Marvin long moved out of the way. Zorro gets a near fall on Averno, only for Chessman to pull Tirantes away form the pin, spit mist in Zorro’s face, and Ricky to cradle Zorro for the win

It’s unclear why the OGT had to cheat if Tirantes was going to help them anyway. Zorro insults the OGT after the match and says it’s not over, so they get their music played until someone realizes the other team should probably be praised.

Review: [ok] Built more around comedy selfie spots than building anything in the match, and just mostly not exciting. Nothing went horribly wrong. They never really teased a finish until the finish and it didn’t make me want to see either of these teams any more. I’m not sure what the Xinetez are supposed to be at this point but neither are they, so it’s all OK.

Noti AAA

– who is the mystery Apache trapper? Jesus notes Hijo del Tirantes is always helping the OGT and seems to think these two things may be linked.

– the Rudos had the advantage in the trios match last week

– Star Battle highlights

– hype for Ciudad Juarez

Match 3: Psycho Clown vs Dr. Wagner Jr.
Lienzo Charro de Los Reyes Ixtacala, Tlalnepantla, Estado de México, 10/28/2016

Winner: no winner
Match Time: 12:33
Notes: Piero is referee. Wagner attacks Psycho Clown from behind which Psycho probably should’ve seen coming. Announcers say this match is no DQ. Psycho gives Wagner a Michinoku Driver on the announce table (where bends but mostly the legs give out.) later, Psycho hangs Wagner in the tree of woe and puts a chair in front to kick in the face, with Wagner pushing the chair out as far as possible before the dropkick so he doesn’t get hit.

After about 13 minutes in, after Psycho Clown has gotten a two count on a powerbomb and for no particular reason, Monster, Murder, Pagano and Damian all run into attack Psycho Clown. Daga and Angelico run in but get nothing but stomped. No even token offense. Fantasma and Daga run, and the rudos eventually run off before Lider and Khan del Mal get there. Wagner is trapped and stomped in the corner for a while before his partners think to pull him off. Piero tells the announcers it’s impossible to continue the match and declares it a draw, which the announcers (rightly) believe is absurd. Daga gives a longer version of the speech from last week, saying they’re not friends on the same side. Daga remembers the Perros were feuding with Pagano before the whole thing got randomly dropped. Both Daga and Psycho bring up Dr. Simi a lot. Psycho talks about the TripleMania match some.

Review: [ok] Just guys doing a lot of moves which weren’t that exciting, with random comebacks set up by nothing in particular, and big spots early that didn’t really play anything. Why did they bother to break the table a few minutes in? It could’ve met something as something set up for a conclusion, but it was just a wasted spot. I’m sure the draw was to not give a winner before TripleMania, but I’m not sure anything here made me want to see that match – it’s going to be the same randomly assembled spots and the same run-ins, only this time it won’t be a draw because reasons. It’ll have more drama and stakes and probably way too much blood, but the match itself was directionless. I wonder who Drago & Angelico did to get treated so badly at the end – they got in nothing, and they weren’t even allowed to stand in the ring after with the rest.
