Tecnicos toko 1/3
2) Destello & Destructor b Black Sugar & Johnny Dinamo

Tecnicos took 1/3.
4) Explosivo, Magnum, Star Black b Espectrúm, Furia Roja, Sádico
tecnicos took 1/3
5) Évola b El Yaqui [hair]
Evola took 1/3, the last with a piledriver variation, to upset Yaqui. Yaqui got his hair cut and then needed medical help.

Evola never wins – he’s lost the last seven hair matches he’s been in. This is strange, and only a little less so if he’s being set up for another loss.

5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. © b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, La Máscara [CMLL TRIOS] LA MEJOR LUCHA LIBRE EN VIVO DESDE LA ARENA PUEBLA 31 DE OCTUBRE DEL 2016 (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Sky Team took 2/3. Valiente won the match by beating La Mascara after Volador had already been defeated. 8th defense

Eight defenses ties the record for this title. The Bufete del Amor (Maximo, Rush, Marco) got to eight and only lost them because of Marco’s car accident. Golden Generacion (Mascara, Sombra, Dorada) got to eight and lost them Averno, Mephisto and Ephesto – I can’t recall why. It’s possible Los Brazos got to eight or more and we just don’t know, because my records have more holes than swiss cheese, but it seems like an easy thing for CMLL to hype whenever the Sky Team have their next defense. Not sure they will.

The third match is said to be pretty good. Valiente’s push has last four days, so that’s good. They didn’t seem to go anywhere in particular in the semimain, they’re just booking relevos incredibles because they keep listing Rush as a tecnico but they won’t want him facing Pierroth. It’s dumb.

Today’s CMLL show is a rare event with two title matches. Oddly, the main event is the national title, with the world title being in the semimain. Mephisto, Ephesto and Luicferno defend the national trios titles against the randomly assembled team of Mistico, Mascara Dorada and Diamante Azul. As the preview notes, Mascara Dorada & Diamante Azul (as Metro) actually held these trios titles as a team prior, with Stuka instead of Mistico. That trio never lost the titles in the ring, Mascara Dorada just gave them up because he had other things to do. (They tried replacing him with Delta. It didn’t work out.) Dorada has other things to do at this very moment, so for a title change to happen.

The less predictable title match is the NWA Light Heavyweight fight. Rey Bucanero defends against Hechicero, who won a 12 man cibernetico last week. A rudo/rudo title match is rare. Bucanero singles matches should probably be rare, and are a good reason for a change. Hechicero is one of the best wrestlers in CMLL, but going from never winning a championship or a tournament to winning a world title is a big leap the world of CMLL – Hechicero is going to be the internet rooting interest to win tonight, but no one should feel confident about him winning. FantasticaMania does play into this somehow – a Hechicero win would give them an extra feud for the tour – but otherwise this is a title that really hasn’t been relevant or central to CMLL this entire decade. There would be better matches with Hechicero as champion right now, but CMLL hasn’t seen the need to do much with this title in the past and might just feel OK with keeping it on a vet who’s been there forever.

The rest of the show is a normal CMLL show in fall of 2016, with the added bit of it being a Dia de Muertos themed show – the top four matches will have losers taken to hell. The fourth match has Valiente, Blue Panther (maybe, he missed last night), and Atlantis against Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas and Felino. There’s a women’s match, because of course there is, with Sanely, Vaquerita and Estrellita against Seductora, La Comandante and Metalica. I wonder CMLL knew they were going to be running lots more women’s matches and Metalica and Jarochita got brought in to help fill those matches out, or if it just worked out that way. Fantasy, Acero, and Shockercito take on Pequeno Nitro, Pequeno Olimpico and Demus in the minis division. Robin & Bengala versus Apocalipsis & Espanto Jr. will be the opener. No one will be dragged to hell from that match, because everyone involved is already there.

The show will air at 7:30 in Mexico City, 8:30 CT in the US if your clocks haven’t changed yet. (It’s an hour later than you’re used to in most of the world.) The show – minus the dance numbers – will air on YouTube and CMLL.com.

Lucha Mexico, a documentary which was in theatres this summer, is now available on Netflix (in US & Canada at least.) I’ve watched it – I wished they would’ve focused more on fewer things than try to go in many different directions at once, but it’s worth your time if you have Netflix.

Cara Lucha announced their The Best Cara Lucha Championship this Sunday will be decided in an eight man single elimination tournament. (Well, maybe. They say “six matches”, but an eight man tournament usually needs eight – maybe the final is on the 11/19 show show.) The poster already has eight people on it, and they’ll announce matchups (!) and have a press conference with Volador, Rey Fenix and Flamita before the show. That suggests Flamita’s coming back to Mexico right after his title match.

The Panther will face Silas Young, Will Ferrera and Yo (Fujin) in a four way match at ROH’s 10/03 show in Arlington. Panther sort of gets his wish – he doesn’t face Kamaitachi, he gets some new people, but he still gets Fujin. Fujin/Raijin vs The Panther/Blue Panther Jr. seemed like the most frequent matchup for the Japanese kids. Silas Young seems like the favorite to advance but it’s not impossible Panther could win, and CMLL luchadors have been booked decently strong in ROH.

Figures Toy Company announced they’ll be making a Taya action figure. I’m surprised AAA or Lucha Underground doesn’t own those rights. Taya definitely had the name and the character prior to coming to AAA, but I would’ve guessed she would’ve been asked to sign some of the merchandising rights over along the way.

GALLI is running Steve Pain & Gringo Loco vs Triton & Super Crazy this Sunday.

AAA put up the 2010 February taping from Salamanca.

A handheld video of the AAA in New York show from 1994 was posted on YouTube. The show hadn’t been seen since it took place; it wasn’t taped by the promotion.

Black Terry has highlights of Eterno vs Dinamic Black, Wotan & Caifan vs Black Terry & Canis Lupus, Negro Navarro vs Black Terry, Golden Magic vs Metaleon vs Emperador Azteca vs Chicano vs Imposible and Latigo & Centvrion vs Impulso & Ares vs Sadico vs Freelance vs Iron Kid & Alas de Acero.

LuchaWorld has this week’s Poster-Mania.

Promociones Avila in Tijuana says they’re going to try Negro Casas vs Arandu again, after the last match ended up with Maximo getting involved.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 11/07/2016 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano, Centella Roja, París vs Espíritu Maligno, Mini Joker, Saurón
2) Lestat, Pegasso, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Ares, Metálico, Policeman
3) Guerrero Maya Jr., Stigma, Stuka Jr. vs Felino, Puma, Tiger
4) Dragón Lee, Máscara Dorada, Máximo Sexy vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Pólvora
5) Atlantis, Rush, Último Guerrero vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]

Another relevos incredibles, though this one is a main event so it could go somewhere. Mascara Dorada is not going anywhere, at least not yet. Polvora sticks out as an odd inclusion in that match. Tercera should be good. Lestat is around two more weeks. Asturiano makes his close to monthly appearance.

Toryumon Mexico (SUN) 11/13/2016 Gimnasio Cuauhtemoc, Domo del Deportivo Plan Sexenal, Miguel Hidalgo, Distrito Federal
1) Fireman & K-Fu vs Makiavelico & Stromh Man
2) Eléctrico & Sonic vs Okaro & Pequeño Olímpico
3) Argos, Daisuke Hanaoka, Douki vs Silver Star I, Silver Star Jr., Spartano
4) Ludwig Star, Robin, Súper Ciudadano vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Patán, Skándalo
5) Último Dragón vs Rey Bucanero

Usual Toryumon card, which don’t really turn up on video much outside of the Dragonmania shows and are very repetitive; the promotion only runs four shows a year, and this is the third time they’ve had a Dragon vs Bucanero singles in the last six years. I wonder which of the many Silver Stars these are.

The Crash (SAT) 11/26/2016 Auditorio de Tijuana, Tijuana, Baja California
1) Arkángel Divino, Ely Everfly, Mirage vs Black Danger, Douglas James, Último Maldito
2) Black Boy vs Jinzo, Aero Boy, Próximo
3) Keira vs Sexy Dulce [The CRASH WOMEN]
Vacant title
4) ?, Máscarita Dorada, Willie Mack vs Bestia 666, Black Tauro (Elite), Demus 3:16
5) Flamita © vs Extreme Tiger [The CRASH CRUISER]
6) Jeff Hardy, Rey Fénix (LU), Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Jeff Cobb, Nicho el Millionario, Teddy Hart

Typically packed the Crash card. Semimain could be great. Mascarita versus Demus was always good and Mascarita versus Black Tauro could be amazing. I think Sexy Star/Sexy Dulce is a Keira fan – she snuck her into getting an AAA match – so there’s a chance that could go better than it sounds.
