6) Rush b Diamante Azul LUCHA LIBRE MARTES DE NUEVOS VALORES EN LA ARENA MEXICO 11 DE OCTUBRE DEL 2016 (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Rush took 1/3. La Mascara distracted Tirantes, Rush stole Diamante Azul’s mask, fouled him, put on the mask, and covered him for three. It was impossible for Tirantes to not see Rush had the mask on, and he even stopped counting after one, but then continued counting. Diamante Azul pulled the mask off of Rush’s face and put it back on.

The main event, and the finish, got strongly negative reviews.

Lucha Underground’s episode tonight is “The Open Road With Revenge”, the 6th of the week. Matches advertised for tonight, some more vague than others:

  • Sexy Star defends the Gift of the Gods Championship against Jack Evans (video)
  • something with Dr. Wagner, Famous B, Mascarita Sagrada and Son of Havoc
  • Chavo Guerrero vs Dragon Azteca Jr.

The previews says Rey Mysterio get involved with the last match.

Den of Geek has a recap of the NYCC Lucha Underground panel.

Today’s also the first Lucha Ilimitado show, in Yakima, Washington. Matches include Jeff Hardy vs Rey Misterio, Hijo del Santo & Santo Jr. vs Juventud Guerrera & Psicosis and Jeff Cobb vs Rey Fenix vs Sonjay Dutt vs Jonathan Gresham.

There’s no sign of an Elite lineup for this week, so they must not be running (and I have no idea what airs except repeats.) Many of their usual wrestlers are in Tijuana this Friday instead.

Jack Evans says he’s off the AAA Star Battle show. This probably has to do with the interview he did in Spain and there’s probably more going on beyond him being off one show. Hope it gets worked out in a positive way for everyone.

Alberto seems to be sticking with his newest “I got knifed because a drunk person said something rude about Paige” story, as he repeated it to TMZ at the Combates Americas press conference. A near 40 year old adult getting into a fight with a drunk person because they said something mean is not as a heroic story as he’d like it to be, if we even believe that story. This week’s MLW Radio didn’t include Court Bauer , and MSL blew off the issue with last week’s stories as “I don’t what happened, I just hope they’re ok” in about 5 seconds. I totally agree with that sentiment.

Of note, the press conference only announced Alberto’s new role (and his new Alberto “El President” Rodriguez name, since he’s president of Combates.) They didn’t announce the deal with Azteca in Mexico which the network mentioned a few days ago, so either that’s not done yet or they wanted to save it for later.

Voices of Wrestling has a really great piece on Villano III’s career.

Dragon Rojo Jr. talked about his career and being anti-bullying. He says he was bullied for his dark skin color, which eventually led to him working out at a gym to get strong enough to fight back against bullies, and then to lucha. One of his bullies later became a fan.

CMLL talks about Angel de Oro, Fuego and Titan heading to Japan. Titan notes it’s his fourth trip this year, and CMLL notes Fuego’s popularity due to his enthusiastic performances.

Lucha Memes has a 10/23 show in Coacalco (Chairo Bill Vol 2)
1: Hechicero vs Sammy Guevara Hechicero replaces Titan (NJPW tour)
2: Impulso vs Mike Segura
3: Alberto Dos Rios vs Negro Navarro
4: Dragon Lee vs Ronnie Mendoza
5: Keira vs Silueta

I don’t know this for a 100% fact, but I’m fairly sure Titan & Angel de Oro weren’t going to be on this tour until Matt Sydal disappeared. (So, thanks?)

Liger Fever has a recap of the latest Podcast Boom. There’s a long La Parka (AAA) burial. Of note, Konnan believes AAA working with Multimedios is happening at least in part to stop Konnan from working with Multimedios on his own projects. I could’ve sworn Mutlimedios and Konnan previously insisted they weren’t working on anything together.

Adictos Al Deporte is teasing Pagano versus Konnan Big on 10/23 in Monterrey (so it’s probably happening.)

Guadalajara is teasing a Rayo de Jalisco appearance. Rayo was the best person in the 09/16 main event, and you can’t say that about many Rayo matches.

Yesterday was the fifth anniversary of CMLL luchador Dr. X’s passing.

The Gladiatores has video interviews with the Hip Hop Man family, Dragon Fly, Trauma II and Imposible..

Tiger Rojo Jr. took Barbaro II’s hair in Arena San Ramon.

Mascara Dorada says he’s not on the 10/16 DTU show.

Negro Casas, Rey Horuz, Xtreme Tiger and Bestia 666 are advertised on 10/23 in Tijuana.

In Dragon Gate, Flamita’s getting the next title shot at Eita’s Brave Gate championship. (There were far more interesting things happening on that show if you’re a Dragon Gate fan.) The date hasn’t been set, but 11/03 is the next big Dragon Gate show.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report.

Lineup

CMLL (TUE) 10/18/2016 Arena México
1) Metatrón & Robin vs Akuma & Metálico
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Disturbio, Virus
3) Star Jr. vs Skándalo [lightning]
4) Ángel de Oro, Drone, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Hechicero, Misterioso Jr., Sagrado
5) Atlantis, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys
6) Diamante Azul, Máscara Dorada, Mistico vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto

Luciferno in a main event! Any feud that starts now will end after the Universal tournament, so they could actually move on past the Hijos del Infierno as trios champions if CMLL wanted. Not sure if that’ll happen with a Mascara Dorada team, though.

Drone is a new name. New name completely – he doesn’t show up on indie results, so it’s likely someone getting a new personality to start higher of Fuego & Rey Cometa. (This card is really unbalanced with tecnicos and rudo.) I’m done with the Vanguard 1 jokes already.
