Recapped: 10/10/2016
What happened: Mephisto kept the CMLL Welterweight championship over Titan.
What was good: You should check out the Mephisto/Titan match, and the main event was good too.
I previously talked about the rest of the card when I saw it live; everything was OK and not really worth talking about again.
Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Review: [excellent] I was afraid this wouldn’t hold up as well on video, and there were a couple things that didn’t come across as well. (Titan’s missed tope looked less like a miss live, for one.) The atmosphere live helped too, but it does really comes across well during the last ten minutes. They build lots of drama on every near fall for an extended period of time, never wearing the crowd out and always pulling out big spots after big spot. Mephisto has changed up his game a bit: these used to be matches where he’d just do the Devil’s Wings 3-4 times and it’s just happen to work at the end, but he had a lot more variety to his attacks. They worked a story around the powerbomb being deadly, winning the first fall and destroying Titan on the outside, and then were able to work with it for some teases (Titan reversing into a frankensteiner) and believable near falls near the end. Titan survived for a long time and then kept getting closer and closer to the win, before Mephisto was finally able to put him away. Titan’s not got as many chances this year, but he made the most of this one, and Mephisto continues to roll on.

Review: [good] this seemed more substantial live, it’s not much over ten minutes in reality, but they put in a lot of highlights in the time. It certainly helped that expectations were very low after the last match, but the Guerreros took over for just enough for the técnicos to do big move comebacks. The teamwork at the end of the second fall was fun, and the big dives looked impressive. A good main event, especially for a Tuesday.
