CMLL (SUN) 10/09/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Avispón Negro Jr. b Guerrero de la Muerte
Tecnicos took 1/3
2) Destructor & Diplomático b Capitán Cobra & Micro
Rudos took 2/3.
3) Cosmos & El Alteño b Carlo Roggi & Mr. Apolo
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Évola & Exterminador b El Yaqui & Javier Cruz Jr.
Rudos took 1/3, the last via fouls.
5) Mágico, Maléfico, Ráfaga DQ Frezzer, Furia Roja, León Blanco [Relevos Increíbles]
Team Rafaga (rudo team) took 2/3, the last by DQ when Frezzer accidentally unmasked Magico. Malefico & Rafaga attacked Magico after the match and Frezzer challenged him to a singles match.

This building isn’t exciting but it is fairly logical; the angles on the last two matches set up matches this upcoming Sunday.

Tecnicos took 1/3.

I didn’t see this show. It sounds like it wasn’t much good (outside the semimain) so maybe that was a good thing.

Today’s CMLL show has a first time main event, Diamante Azul taking on his old NJPW tag team partner Rush. Rush has a great track record of singles matches. Diamante Azul’s doesn’t. Something’s got to give! Also, somehow Diamante Azul is the favorite to win this, which is kind of amazing.

Atlantis, Johnny Idol and Mistico take on Dragon Rojo, La Mascara and Terrible in the semimain, and Angel de Oro, Blue Panther, Rey Cometa versus Vangellys, Polvora, and Sagrado in the fourth match. Both are the best chances at other good matches on the card. The first half of the card has Blue Panther, the Panther & Pegasso vs Disturbio, Okumura and Virus (which might not be bad), Hombre Bala, Oro & Robin against Arkangel, Metalico and Nitro (which will be bad) and Flyer & Leono vs Akmua & Camorra (which will also be not watchable.)

CultIcon has a preview of the show. It’ll air at 7:30 pm CT on CMLL.com & YouTube.

Guadalajara has the misfortune of running a Shocker & Negro Casas title defense when they’re already part of the Universal tournament announced a few days from now. Volador & Valiente will challenge, have a good match, and almost certainly lose.

CMLL’s changed Saturday’s card slightly. Fuego moves up to the semimain to replace Esfinge, and Flyer is added to replace Fuego in the segunda. They also keep changing the subtitle for the Universal tournament on Friday.

Televisa ran a story correcting it’s story from Friday night which had claimed the original LA Park was in jail. There’s video of it here, and a text recap here. They talked to both LA Park & La Parka, confirming neither of them were in jail, and are going with the idea the jailed guy thought he was being La Parka but was fooled by a unknown local promoter.

Ángel de Oro, Titán and Fuego are part of the upcoming NJPW tour, running from 10/21 to 11/05. They’re part of a Super Juniors Tag Team tournament, with the quarterfinals on 10/21, semifinals on 10/30 and final on 11/05. All of those shows should air on NJPWWorld (and it appears nothing else is currently on the schedule.) Ángel de Oro & Titán are a team facing Rocky Romero & Barretta, and Fuego teams with dancing friend Ryusuke Taguchi against Jushin Liger & Tiger Mask 4. Romero & Baretta appear to be breaking up, so a CMLL upset is possible there. The CMLL wrestlers face off early in the tour, before being split in other shows.

It’s probably a not a coincidence Ángel de Oro is also working ROH this weekend. It’s too bad they didn’t pick Titán or Fuego for that spot; I would’ve driven to Dearborn for Kamaitachi against Titan without thinking twice, and I don’t think I’m going even to Chicago Ridge to see Oro.

NJPW’s schedule lists the CMLL shows on 10/15 & 10/29 as airing on their service. NJPW gets the same feed CMLL provides ClaroSports, so that says there’s no current plans to make the 10/29 show (Dia de Muertos, Universal final) an iPPV.

In an interview on Tazz’s radio show, Alberto now explained he was attacked when someone “disrespected his girl.” His previous two versions of this story – when he was hit by a car and when a homeless man attacked him – were both attacks from behind, not prompted by something said to or about Paige. I’m not sure anyone believes this story at this point but people are still willing to go along with it in the name of making money. Alberto also conducted an interview with ESPN, but only talked about Paige’s newest suspension and bizarrely declared his nickname was el Presidente (which it hasn’t been anywhere but this interview.) Much of Alberto’s behavior is bizarre.

IWRG announced the annual Castillo del Terror cage match will be 11/02.

Rocky Lobo says he’s headed to Germany in April 2017 and will be staying there for seven months. That’s a long lead time. Lobo is currently DTU Nexo (tag) champion with Pesadilla, but they’ve got six months for that to change. This isn’t for WXW, but for a new group called WrestlingKult.

Taya defended her AAA Reina de Reinas title over Thunder Rosa (Kobra Moon) on the 10/07 Sabotage show in California. Same show has a WWS title defense by Diosa Atenea over Heather Monroe. AAA hasn’t acknowledged the title match, the first in a year, and they’re barely acknowledging the title at this point. Taya appears unlikely to ever lose the championship.

LuchaWorld has the latest Poster-Mania.

Segunda Caida reviews Lucha Underground episode 3×3 and Sangre Chicana vs La Fiera.

DJ Spectro points out Sangre Chicana’s one week national light heavyweight championship in 1986. It’s not something I had in the luchawiki, but Luchas 2000 had it previously too. (Slightly different dates.)

Sexy Star is teasing retiring from lucha libre. I don’t believe she’s actually doing it and there may be political/legal issues going on, or maybe just trying to increase interest to get her booked.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 10/17/2016 Arena Puebla
1) Astro, París, Vega vs Fuerza Chicana, Guerrero Espacial, Inquisidor
Vega’s first match here in about 4 months.
2) Astral, Asturiano, Eléctrico vs Mini Joker, Pequeño Violencia, Saurón
3) Guerrero Maya Jr., Stigma, Stuka Jr. vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Ripper
4) Atlantis, Johnny Idol, Máximo Sexy vs Negro Casas, Sam Adonis, Shocker
5) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, La Máscara

Is this the same card as last night? It feels a lot like the same card. There’s no particular reason for the similar main event, except Mascara Dorada still has his Mondays free. Semimain might follow up on Adonis/Idol.
