CMLL (FRI) 10/07/2016 Arena México [+LuchaTV, CMLL, Culticon, ESTO]
1) Fantasy & Último Dragóncito DQ Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
Tecnicos took 1/3. Looked like the DQ was to get out of the match after a Nitro injury.
2) Okumura, Puma, Tiger b Hombre Bala Jr., Soberano Jr., Star Jr.
very good match
3) Estrellita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit b Amapola, Dalys, Tiffany
4) Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Felino, Pólvora
5) Volador Jr. © b Cavernario [NWA WELTER]
Volador took 2/3 in an outstanding match. Volador’s 11th defense.
6) Dragón Lee, Mistico, Rush b Euforia, Mephisto, Último Guerrero
La Mascara (in a Sombra mask) appeared to distract the referee, allowing Rush to sneak in a foul on UG. Mistico & Dragon Lee weren’t happy with Rush & La Mascara.

Heard the second and the semimain were great! Haven’t gotten to see it yet. I did manage to record most of the show remotely, but the feed went out at the end of the semimain and I didn’t get it working again until during the main event.

They did the hair match challenges after the semimain, and even Dave Meltzer thinks they’re going to do it. I’m skeptical: Volador would win the hair match and they would’ve saved his big win for that if it was coming any time soon. The main event, continuing a tease of a Dragon Lee & Mistico vs Rush & La Mascara feud from the Anniversary show, seems like the direction in the short term.

ELITE (FRI) 10/07/2016 Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estado de México [+LuchaTV, Plantilla Deportiva]
1) Muñeca De Plata & Rossy Moreno b Keira & Lady Maravilla
2) León Dorado Jr. & Mr. Leo b Eterno & Fresero Jr.
Mr. Leo & Leon Dorado Jr. are “Los Lion Brothers 4:20”. Leon Dorado Jr. is either Metaleon with a new name or someone joining the group, it’s not clear.
3) Herodes Jr. & Samoano b Ciclón Ramírez Jr. & Zumbi
4) Argos, Hijo De Dos Caras, Karonte Jr. b El Bandido, Golden Magic, Último Ninja
5) Decnnis, Mr. Águila, Zumbido DQ Black Tauro (ex-AAA), Cibernético, Sharlie Rockstar
Cibernetico fouled Zumbido
6) LA Park & Rey Escorpión b Carístico & Xtreme Tiger
Caristico suffered a leg injury.

There’s no update on how the seriousness of Caristico’s injury. He usually mentions he’s OK on Twitter after a scare and has not yet. They don’t seem to be doing any angles on these shows.

CMLL’s show today in Arena Coliseo has Atlantis, Mistico and Maximo against Shocker, Ephesto and Luciferno. Last week was a title match, so we’re back to square one on a feud and many people in the match have a title. The semimain also has champions, with Stuka Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., and Rye Comet taking on Mr. Niebla, Rey Bucanero, and Olimpico. The tercera is Blue Panther, Titan, and Fuego against Disturbio, Misterioso and Sagrado, and those three matches might air on a Lucha Libre Retro show if the show itself ever starts airing. Of note, CMLL’s tonight doing a little bit of what people have begging them to do on Tuesdays – actually using some of the new people they’ve introduced to give new matches. Metalica and Jarochita are part of the women’s match. The opener is Robin & Templario against Rocky Casas & Yago.

Kamikazes del Ring are at Arena San Juan with Extreme Tiger & Mr. Leo vs Freelance & Rey Horuz, who probably should just get a metro pass for how much time he’s spending in Mexico City this year. Flyer, Volador and Black Taurus are in TexasRush, Pierroth, La Mascara and Dragon Lee are in Los Angeles for UIPW.

A Televisa show, host by Denise Maerker, did a story this morning on the jail sentence of La Parka. The only problem is, it was a low level wrestler claiming to be La Parka, and not the long time AAA guy or LA Park. SuperLucha explains the whole thing. LA Park was very upset, since the guy was essentially pretending to be him.

The Pentagon & Fenix interviews RobViper conducted back at BOLA are available to preorder on Highspot’s website.

Angel de Oro is happy to represent CMLL in ROH, but doesn’t really know anyone but Kamaitachi.

Pimpinela is happy to be Copa Antonio Pena winner.

The story about Dragon Rojo & Polvora training police has gotten picked up by English language wire services.

Kcidis draws flying caveman.

Rey Mysterio will be doing an interview show on 10/27 and a photo session on 10/28 as part of the AAA Star Battle Japan show.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 10/14/2016 Arena México
1) Astral & Eléctrico vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Violencia
2) La Vaquerita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Dalys, Tiffany
3) Dragón Lee, Guerrero Maya Jr., Máscara Dorada vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja
4) Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000 vs Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Stuka Jr.
5) Mistico vs Último Guerrero, Negro Casas, Máximo Sexy, Valiente, Cavernario, Mephisto, Shocker [CMLL Universal, semifinal]

Cavernario isn’t a champion. He lost his title to Rey Cometa in June. CMLL didn’t know this, which illustrates everything wrong with how they handle championships in this promotion. (Unless there was a plan to have Cavernario win last night and they changed their mind late.) They could leave Cavernario in the tournament and 90% of the people wouldn’t notice. Assuming everything stays the same, this is probably a rudo block. Ultimo Guerrero, Negro Casas, Mephisto all have good shots.

This would lave Dragon Lee, Dragon Rojo, La Máscara, Volador Jr., Rey Bucanero, Atlantis, Ephesto, and Luciferno as the other block on 10/21. Which means a tecnico, Dragon Lee, Volador or Atlantis. (Mistico vs La Mascara would be the one possible main event the other way.)

10/28, the final, is also a Dia del Muertos show. The winner gets the Universal championship, the loser will get dragged to hell. It might be an iPPV.

I can’t believe they brought the Dinamtias back. They were absolutely awful. CMLL could believe they were a draw on 09/16, but it’s hard to believe they would be so again after the reaction to the match. The opponents are interesting: I have no idea what Stuka is going to do there, but Marco in that match amusing. Long ago, Marco’s first feud with the promotion was against Universo 2000. There’s an infamous spot where Universo 2000 clumsily & dangerously hit Marco in the back of the head with a chair, causing him to bleed badly. There were very bad feelings after that, though it’s more than a decade ago now.

That match probably won’t be any good and the Universal tournament is never any good. The tercera should be good, but you should skip this show.

CaraLucha (SAT) 10/22/2016 Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México
1) Diosa Atenea & Reina Dorada vs ? & Felina Metálica
2) Sky Man © vs Toxin [Mucha Luchas CHAMP]
3) Demasiado & Diva Salvaje vs Cerebro Negro & Dr. Cerebro and Rayo Star & Wasson
4) Black Terry & Zumbido vs Rey Escorpión & Templario
5) Extreme Tiger vs Rey Fénix, Fly Warrior

Full card for CaraLucha’s show next week. Main event is really the eye catching match, but the semimain makes me realize Rey Escorpion versus Fenix really needs to happen now that they’re both available.
