straight falls. Rush convined Tirantes to call Diamante Azul for a non-existent foul. Azul demanded a singles match next week.

I saw Hechicero/Maya. It was good. I’ll watch the rest later. (Well, some of it.) It sounds better than usual.

Lucha Underground 3×5 is called “The Prince and the Monster”. That’s unavoidably obvious. Matches announced

  • Texano [0] versus Cage [1] in the Best of 5 for an Ultimate Opportunity
  • Ivelisse vs Mariposa (we also meet Ivelisse’s new boyfriend)
  • Matanza Cueto vs [Dial of Doom winner] for the Lucha Underground Championship – Dario intro.

Killshot also gets “chilling news” and the Rabbit Tribe debuts. There’s about four matches left from the first weekend of tapings which could be added as a fourth match, but I suspect they’re just sticking to these three tonight.

The Dario intro reveals who is getting the spot. They also give the match away on Twitter. LU would really like you to watch this show this week. Maybe they’re making it more obvious due to the ratings slide? Maybe they’re just really excited about the match? Maybe it’s just random.

The Lucha Underground panel at the New York Comic Con mentioned a while a back is this Sunday at 5pm CT. This one will also be streamed live on the NYCC’s Twitch channel.

Today’s the 10th Anniversary of Antonio Pena’s death.

This week’s MLW Radio had a detailed recap of on the attack to Alberto Sunday. I summarized it here. As always, it’s best to listen to it yourself, about 26 minutes in.

The longer version of this story explains a few things that were unclear before, but there are things in the story that don’t quite add up to me. It’s explained Alberto didn’t contact AAA until the next morning because he lost his phone, but the report both has Alberto never getting that far away from his car (and phone?), and Alberto’s mentioned as wanting to charter a plane to Monterrey to make the show (but still couldn’t contact AAA?) Alberto is able to fight off and disarm a knife wielding maniac with his superior fighting skills, which is super hero stuff right there, but then maniac somehow just gets back in his car and leaves without anyone stopping him. There’s no details about attack or the car that hit Alberto, and there’s no news stories about this outside of the wrestling media that I can find. I know local newspapers are not in great shape, but Alberto is a celebrity who just got stabbed, an article about it would sell a few papers.

There could be great answers to all these questions, maybe things which just get confused in the trauma of the moment, and I’m not actually interested in playing CSI. Getting stabbed is not a good experience and I feel terrible for questioning the story of a person who got stabbed. The issue is, I had the feeling before that there’s parts of the story which aren’t being told and what I heard didn’t shake that feeling. (Somewhere in San Antonio, there should be a police report to clear this up – but one hasn’t been found. That’s concerning.)

At any rate, despite getting stabbed so hard that he could see his muscle come out of his arm, Alberto is planning to work his dates in the UK this weekend.

Zeuxis was among the participants in the recent WWE tryout. They’d apparently been aware of her for a while. She’s unlikely to be in trouble with CMLL if she let them know ahead of time (and she wasn’t booked on any CMLL shows this week, so that’s a positive sign.) WWE’s expected to run a women’s tournament similar to the recent CWC, and Zeuxis would be the best pick from Mexico (and maybe Puerto Rico) for something like that.

Psycho Clown says he suffered second degree burns from being put thru a table on fire at Heroes Inmortales, but is more hurt by Monster & Murder betraying him. He thought they would be a trio together until they all got old. The burns were so bad that Psycho Clown has to stay out of the ring for three weeks. AAA actually specifically notes he’s off the shows in Irapuato and Juarez this week, but, really, every spot show for months is main evented with some combination of Psycho Clown and Pagano (and Pentagon Jr. if he’s not in the US), including cards announced even after he was hurt. I have no real idea who replaces him; maybe Parka, but sometimes he’s headlining other AAA shows the same day.

Toscano is also out of action after surgery on 09/30. He doesn’t specify what was operated on. There’s no estimate of when he’ll be back, but he says it’ll be a long time.

Australian Suicide gives Daga credit for being the better man at Heroes Inmortales.

An Arena Mexico documentary, A Dos De Tres Caidas, airs Saturday on Canal 22 in Mexico at 10:30pm. The channel has a internet feed that’s region blocked. One of the directors of the film is Gala Lutteroth, daughter of Salvador Lutteroth. She notes the company her family owns was very open to working to with her.

Aerostar will debut in New Jersey on 11/12 for JAPW.

Mil Mascaras and Nosawa agreed to their IWA title match in Japan on 11/28. Mil was honored by Japan’s ambassador to Mexico, who said Mascara might be the most well known Mexican in Japan.

Kcidis draws the heroes of Heroes Inmortales.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 10/09/2016 Arena Naucalpan
1) Máscara De Ángel vs Sombra Metálica
2) Demetrio & Hip Hop Man vs Black Dragón & Dragón Fly and Demonio Infernal & Skanda
3) Black Terry, Bobby Lee, Pantera vs El Hijo del Diablo, Eterno, Tyson La Bestia
4) Negro Navarro, Relámpago, Trauma I vs Devil Rocker, Machine Rocker, Soul Rocker
5) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Silver King, Trauma I vs Hijo De Dos Caras, Imposible, Mr. Electro

A show! Definitely a show. Not even doing Trauma I/Canis Lupus this week. No Wednesday shows & no Sunday show the week after because Boom’s running instead.

CMLL (TUE) 10/11/2016 Arena México
1) Flyer & Leono vs Akuma & Camorra
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Oro Jr., Robin vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Metálico, Nitro
3) Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso, The Panther vs Disturbio, Okumura, Virus
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Rey Cometa vs Pólvora, Sagrado, Vangellys
5) Atlantis, Johnny Idol, Mistico vs Dragón Rojo Jr., La Máscara, Terrible
6) Diamante Azul vs Rush

Diamante Azul’s had a lot of singles match this year because he was briefly in Liga Elite (pushed as hard as Rey Escorpion), but this is his first ever singles match against Rush.  They’ve been mentioned as friends in the past. Azul’s gotten the worst of this feud, which means he’s incredibly likely to beat Rush here.

CMLL (TUE) 10/11/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Magnum & Reycko vs Linterna & Sádico
2) Soberano Jr., Star Jr., Stigma vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca
3) Esfinge, Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr. vs Luciferno, Misterioso Jr., Olímpico
4) Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Máximo Sexy vs Mr. Niebla, Pierroth, Último Guerrero
5) Negro Casas & Shocker © vs Valiente & Volador Jr. [CMLL TAG]
12th defense

If Casas & Shocker get the win here, they just have to beat the Mistico & Valiente combo to handle all three possible combination of the Sky Team. Dorada is on two straight cards days. He’s gotten farewell moments in Tijuana and Monterrey recently. This is either the last or next to week for him in Mexico if his estimate was accurate, and so these might be farwell appearances as well.

MDA (SUN) 10/16/2016 Arena Coliseo Monterrey
1) Extreme Boy & the Tiger (Tamaulipas) vs Lince & Tormento
2) Última Sombra vs Gemelo Muerte [super libre]
3) Epydemius & Ninja Jr. vs Hijo de LA Park & Tekilita
4) Delta vs Galactar [bull terrier]
5) Heddi Karaoui, Intocable, Octagón vs Antifaz, Caifan, Fuerza Guerrera
6) LA Park, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Stuka I vs Jerry Estrada, Máscara Sagrada, Rush

Another busy MDS card, with some weird teams. I think they’re building to a Delta/Galactar mask match, but who knows if it’ll happen after the way they got on the last one.

Stuka/Estrada is a feud dating back to the 90s. Back when I had time to go back thru the early 2000s Torreon results a couple months ago, I noticed someone would always bring back that feud a few times a year. That was long after the big match, too.
