Usual Sunday show, far less noteworthy than other stuff going on.

I’ll do the full AAA post tomorrow, after the dust settles a bit, but the obvious big story is Alberto el Patron not appearing in his match. About an hour after it happened, AAA sent out a press release blaming Alberto. They claim to have confirmed Alberto as coming as recently as Sunday morning and blame him for his lack of professionalism. Alberto had been promoting the show as recently as two days ago, and has said nothing as of this writing. AAA’s press release phrasing suggests Alberto did not get lost or disappear, but willfully decided to not appear. There had been rumors today of Alberto showing up in TNA instead, but he did not appear to be there either tonight. (TNA will be taping all week in Orlando, so it’s still possible he could appear with them later on.)

No one’s saying exactly what happened. The only clear thing is whatever AAA was offering to Alberto, it wasn’t enough for him to actually come to the show, because he didn’t appear. I don’t know if Alberto and AAA had a disagreement over money at the last second, or if Alberto just decided there were other things he’d prefer to be doing. Whatever the reason, it’s pretty glaring that he didn’t have his own side of the story ready to put out there when he decided not make it to this show. Alberto’s asking a lot of money to work shows now, and it’s going to be harder for him to find that money if promoters believe he might just choose not to show up.

Alberto is currently being advertised for AAA’s 11/20 taping in Ciudad Juarez, and figured to be on the early December Guerra de Titanes card. AAA’s shown a willingness to continue to do business with Alberto in the past and six weeks is plenty of time for things to get fixed again. I would not count out everything getting fixed and Alberto working those shows.
