CMLL (SAT) 09/10/2016 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Artillero & Espanto Jr. b Drako (CMLL) & El Coyote
Debut of Drako (not the one who teams with Corsario Negro)
2) Akuma, Canelo Casas, Nitro b Bengala, Leono, Sensei
3) Flyer, Oro Jr., Star Jr. b El Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
Tecnicos took 1/3.
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Rey Cometa b Dragón Rojo Jr., Gran Guerrero, Pierroth
Angel de Oro was back wrestling after being stretchered out.
5) Matt Taven, Shocker, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Valiente
Rudos took 1/3, Ultimo Guerrero using the ropes to pin Valiente.

CMLL leads the world in times someone is taken from a match with something that looks like be out for months, and then wrestling the next day.

Drako appears to be a person in an nondescript mask. I fear this is going to be another one and done person in the database.

CMLL (SUN) 09/11/2016 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Eléctrico & Shockercito b Demus 3:16 & Pequeño Universo 2000
Pequeno Universo replaced Pierrothito. Both Universo and Shockercito were hurt int he match.
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Okumura, Sangre Azteca b Fuego, Hombre Bala Jr., Magnus
Rudos took 2/3.
3) Metálico, Misterioso Jr., Olimpico b Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr.
Metalico replaced Sagrado. Rudos took 2/3.
4) Matt Taven, Pólvora, Rey Escorpión b Mephisto, Niebla Roja, Vangellys
Rey Escorpion was working here as normal after showing up in Elite Friday night. Escorpion used the ropes to pin Vangellys.
5) Máximo Sexy, Rush, Valiente b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Último Guerrero
Rush “snuck” in a foul on Ultimo Guerrero to win.

I’m still not exactly sure what the deal is with Rey Escorpion, CMLL and Elite, but I guess Vangellys’ chances of winning this feud went way up. I can’t believe that tercera rudo team won, but this is the same group that has UG feuding with one guy on Saturday and a different guy on Sunday.

CMLL must like Matt Taven; he replaces Dragon Rojo on Tuesday. Blue Panther Jr. is also now in his father’s spot on the tercera.

Mas Lucha had their own sit down interview with Alberto el Patron, after the press conference. LigerFever very helpfully translated it in one two parts.

They got more of an answer about wellness; Alberto didn’t directly answer what he failed for, but implied he was on doctor prescribed testosterone replacement therapy and suggests that triggered it. Alberto expressed contempt with the idea of a wellness policy, feeling wrestlers should be allowed to take whatever they’d like if it’s going to enhance their performance.  Alberto credited his improved physique to his nutritionist, but noted he was happy he’d never have to deal with a wellness policy again. (The irony here is one of the reasons WWE has a wellness policy is Chris Benoit was on doctor prescribed testosterone replacement therapy before his murders & suicide.)

Probably the big headline is Alberto off handily mentioning La Sombra is unhappy in NXT and wishes he could just return to Mexico. Alberto says Sombra asked if things got better on the main roster, and Alberto told him they get worse. Alberto says he was told early on by Dean Malenko to forget everything he knew about lucha libre – keep a spot that might get over, but otherwise start from zero and relearn everything their way – or you’ll never succeed in WWE.

Like in the press conference itself, Alberto comes off as very confident in his abilities and legacy – he feels only he and Rey Mysterio have been big success in WWE (and nothing that happened in the last year has tarnished it.) Alberto expects to be champion and top guy or feuding with the top guy of whatever promotion he works with – that’s probably less about confidence, and more about him not seeing a reason to settle for anything else.

Alberto is coming back to Mexico immediately. Rey Mysterio is off the Crash show on 09/24 (as is Teddy Hart), and Alberto’s been pulled into take his place. The new main event is Alberto & Jeff Cobb (Matanza) versus La Mascara & Rush. This also means Alberto is not the mystery man facing Mascara Dorada on that card. Mr. 450 & Extreme Tiger, who were in the main event, move into the four way match with Dragon Lee, Willie Mack, Laredo Kid and the added Hijo de Dos Caras. Hijo de Dos is probably going to be traveling with Alberto to shows on regular basis and may end up booked where ever his brother is booked.

Caristico won the PWR Openweight Championship on Saturday. He next travels to Japan for a weekend of shows with Michinoku Pro.

AAA has this week’s TV up. It’s part one of TripleMania, with the Copa TripleMania and Mundo/Pentagon. Those two set up matches on Heroes Inmortales, so it makes sense they’re airing right away. The next two weeks will be TripleMania episodes, so only one week from the Hard Rock show will air before Heroes Inmotales, and it’ll only air 1 day before the show. The build is all going to have to be local promotion and off the general strength of the AAA product.

Cara Lucha has video promos with Black Tauro (Taurus) and Hijo del Pirata Morgan about their four way match with Trauma I & Rush. Taurus has a problem with Rush also calling himself a toro!

LuchaWorld has the latest News Update.

Segunda Caida reviews Lucha Underground season 2 episode 23 (Puma/Azteca).

Lineups

CMLL (SAT) 09/17/2016 Arena Coliseo
1) Fantasy & Último Dragóncito vs Pequeño Nitro & Pierrothito
2) Flyer, Sensei, Star Jr. vs Hijo del Signo, Metálico, Nitro
3) Hombre Bala Jr., Soberano Jr., Stigma vs Sangre Azteca, Skándalo, Virus
4) Ángel de Oro, The Panther, Titán vs Hechicero, Puma, Tiger
5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs La Máscara, Luciferno, Último Guerrero

That’s a pretty good show for a Saturday. Sky Team main event (following up Valiente/Ultimo Guerrero), and a really promising looking semimain.

ELITE (WED) 09/14/2016 Arena Naucalpan
1) Chik Tormenta & Lady Maravilla vs Keira & Princesa Blanca
2) Ciclón Ramírez Jr. & Jinzo vs Diamante (CMLL) & Imposible
3) El Bandido & Zumbi vs Heddi Karaoui & Herodes Jr.
4) Emperador Azteca, Metaleón, Último Ninja vs Hijo De Dos Caras, Magno (Chihuahua), Toscano
5) Pirata Morgan & Satánico vs Fuerza Guerrera & Solar I
6) Golden Magic & Xtreme Tiger vs Cibernético & Rey Escorpión

There’s the Wednesday show. I’m not sure if this all airs, because they’re pushing the Blue Demon match from Friday as airing. I’m not sure that’s a total loss. Something must be going on for this to move to Wednesdays. Diamante and Ciclon are both loosely CMLL affiliated, beyond whatever the deal is with Escorpion. It’s tough to tell from the results, but they’ve pushed Escorpion hard on the TV show, to the point of having him slap an announcer. He’s got a better position here, especially if Mascara is back in the Ingobernables (since Escorpion’s more likely to be booted than Pierroth.)
