12:02. Rudos took 2/3. Taven’s debut as part of the deal with ROH, and his first match in 9 months after a knee injury.

7:19. Tecnicos took 1/2, the last by DQ when La Mascara unmasked Dragon Lee.
Nothing great, but most everything was good. They threw Taven into the deep end on that match and he didn’t drown, so he’ll be OK.
Despite being highlights on Raw, Mascara Dorada continues to stick with his position: he will announce when he has signed with WWE, and for right now he’s only focusing on winning the CWC.
CMLL’s show in Coliseo today has Matt Taven, Shocker and Ultimo Guerrero versus Atlantis, Valiente and Diamante Azul. CMLL’s preview mentions Diamante Azul has went back in France, and that’s why he hasn’t been around. The preview was written in advance of last night’s show, praises Matt Taven for the match they had not actually seen yet. (They’ve still got Angel de Oro listed on the show, maybe for the same reason. There’s no update.)

Blood and mask ripping. Fuerza fouled Octagon, referee missed it, but Hijo del Octagon pointed it out.

Demon hurt his shoulder, left the match, and returned late to hit Park with a chair and pull off his mask for a DQ. Demon was acting as a rudo and he and Park exchanged mask challenges.
6) Carístico, Golden Magic, Xtreme Tiger DQ Magno (Chihuahua), Sharlie Rockstar, Toscano
Moved to the main event to make sure Caristico could make it (and he made it here about 38 minutes after he left the ring in Arena Mexico.) Rey Escorpion ran in, attacked Caristico for the DQ and dropped Golden Magic with an Aguijon Negro.
They started this show late, they changed the match order, they seemed to add some time between matches late in the show, they probably went long in the triangle match and I still have no idea how Caristico made it from one show to the other in time. If I had not seen it with my own eyes, I would not believe it. Shocker did not make it to both shows, since he was a little bit busy wrestling.
Caristico working both shows and Rey Escorpion making the run-in at the end is both interesting and confusing. Elite also announced they would now switch days again, back to Wednesdays in Naucalpan. I know Elite was talking to people about running a show next Friday in Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera, so something changed. This is even a change in plans for IWRG, who had just said they were not running any shows on Wednesdays this month. Maybe CMLL & Elite patched things up, with Elite agreeing not to run against CMLL on Fridays and CMLL allowing their guys to work in Naucalpan? Elite’s TV may end up looking much better, they should have much less problems filling up at 2,000 seat arena. As usual, no one’s really explaining what’s going on, often to their own determent – had CMLL or Elite or Caristico just said “we know Caristico is booked in both places, but he’s really doing that”, they would’ve been better off – but a card for next week has to be turning up soon if they’re running in just a couple of days.
This show will air tonight on Elite, so we should have some answers soon. At around the same time, Caristico will be main eventing another show – this time for Pro Wrestling Revolution in California, which airs on Fite.TV as a $10 iPPV.
AAA announced the Australian Suicide vs Daga, mask vs hair match, is official for Heroes Inmortales. Or announced that Dorian announced it last Sunday. Or announced that they’re announcing it on TV today. Whatever, it’s happening. Mundo/Garza hasn’t been announced outside of that segment in Monterrey, and they may just be waiting until after the taping next Friday to announce everything.
Today’s AAA TV show is the first half of TripleMania. The show open preview is just a generic TripleMania build up, so we don’t know which matches will air.
LigerFever (1, 2) has a recap of the latest Podcast Boom. Konnan Aldo says Pagano got paid 120,000 pesos/$6,400 USD for losing his hair. Konnan believes that’s very low for main eventing a show like TripleMania, and I totally agree. It’s not even about Pagano’s wrestling or Pagano’s lack of hair. TripleMania seemed to draw 14,000 people with the biggest or second biggest gate in lucha libre this year. If that’s what one of the top guys got paid on a show that big, than everyone else really didn’t make all that much. And if that’s what they’re getting paid on the biggest show, they’re really not getting paid anything on all the other shows. (And Taurus & Pirata quitting makes sense in that context.)
Konnan says PWG tried to book Dragon Lee earlier this year, but it was when he was out due to injury. To me, it looks Pentagon (& Fenix) are going to be regulars there, which makes it political hard to book Dragon Lee going forward, but you never know. Roberto Figueroa appears to be off the podcast for as long as hes’ doing business with AAA.
Chicago’s Yakuza talks about the AAA show in Cicero (outside of Chicago) next Sunday. He was given that gimmick when he was living in Xalapa by Tirantes (Sr.), which might be the connection. Yakuza wrestled on Chicago lucha shows for years, felt the promoters were keeping all the money, and decided to run his own promotion instead. Fenix is still being listed on the show, but it seems unlikely he will appear – it wasn’t among the shows he was hyping. Pentagon, Fantasma and Taya have all said they’ll be there on Twitter.
Fantasma said “I asked for permission to be able to fight in the place I’m in charge of governing and they said Yes.” Mexico’s Indeporte says “Yes, Fantasma asked, but we really have no power to give him that permission. Only Fantasma has power in this manner, so OK it’s fine with us.” Great story.
Alberto said he’s already got 35 dates booked for the rest of the year, which means he’s not got much left to fill and he’s been working at this for a while. He’s booked next weekend for an autograph signing already; when you’re counting dates, don’t assume all of those are actually in ring (or even at a show, he may be figuring travel days.)
Fenix will wrestle in Yakima, Washington on 10/12 against Johnathan Gresham, Sonjay Dutt and El Pared.
