When is TripleMania?

Today! (Sunday, August 28th.) The show is scheduled to start at 6pm Central Time and will last for up to 4 hours.

This link will convert the time to your time zone.

What matches are on TripleMania?

This year’s TripleMania will have 7 matches. The matches scheduled to take place, in order:

Faby Apache & Mary Apache versus Averno & Chessman

A men versus women’s special tag match. The Apache’s father, El Apache, is special referee – but he’s been siding with the chauvinistic men.

Copa TripleMania, including La Parka (AAA), El Elegido, Taurus, Hernandez, Pimpinela Escarlata, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Daga, Súper Fly, Zorro, Australian Suicide, Mamba, and (at least) one more person to be announced

A battle royal (and maybe Royal Rumble) match where the winner will receive a trophy.

Angélico & Jack Evans (champions) versus Matt Cross & Paul London and Aerostar & Drago and Fénix & Hijo del Fantasma for AAA’s World Tag Team Championships

A four-way tag match with the recent kings of the division (Evans/Angelico) defending against a regular Mexican partnership (Aerostar/Drago), a guest American team (Cross/London) and the unusual face/heel team of Fantasma/Fenix.

Pentagón Jr. (champion) versus Johnny Mundo for the AAA Latin American Championship

El Cero Miedo defends AAA’s secondary championship against the man who pinned him to win this year’s Lucha World Cup, Johnny Mundo. Taya may be caught in the middle: she’s allied with Pentagon in AAA, but with Mundo in Lucha Underground.

Texano (champion) versus Dr. Wagner Jr. and Brian Cage for the AAA MEga Heavyweight Championship

Texano defends not only the title, but Mexico’s honor against Team Trump member Brian Cage and complete wildcard Wagner in a three way match. Cage pinned both Texano and Wagner in a three way match leading up to this.

Marty Martinez, Matanza, Mil Muertes vs Azteca Dragón Jr., Prince Puma, Rey Misterio Jr.

A special Lucha Underground trios match featuring six wrestlers who are not regularly participating in AAA (at least under those names.) Dragon Azteca is called Aztec Dragon when he wrestles in AAA.

Pagano (hair) vs Psycho Clown (mask) in a hair versus mask match

Long time AAA crowd favorite Psycho Clown has been repeatedly defeating by Pagano, a hardcore wrestling clown from Juarez. Pagano has won their last six matches leading up to this climax. Evil referee Hijo del Tirantes will be referee, as a consequence of the most recent loss.

Is there a more detailed preview available?

Sure is. I wrote many more thousands of words over at Voices of Wrestling.

How can I watch the show?

The only way to watch the show live is via iPPV, at internetvluchalibreaaa.com. The show costs $23, which includes VOD after the show airs. The VOD is usually available immediately after the show’s conclusion, and you are able to rewind a show as it airs.

The show will be broadcast in both English and Spanish. The English announcers will be Matt Striker and Hugo Savinovich.

Anything I should be warned about ahead of time?

AAA’s had a history of techinical issues on recent TripleMania. Their other iPPV generally work fine but something seems to go wrong on theses shows. Cross your fingers.

We’re not 100% Fenix will actually appear. I believe he will be, but he missed AAA’s last show and they did an angle to possibly replace him on the team with Garza Junior . Garza says he’ll be on TripleMania today, though AAA hasn’t announced him in any match. (Ricky Marvin says he’ll be there too, so they could just be adding more people to the show or be using them in other roles.) The most recent information I had is Fenix will be there, but I’m far from certain. AAA hasn’t explained what’s going on, but keep an eye on their social media if this is important to you – they’ll probably post a photo of him getting ready for the show.

Where can I find out more?

I’ll be on twitter, @luchablog, all night. A recap of the show will appear on this site an hour or so far it airs.
