Mistico defeats Cavernario in Puebla, Dinamitas keep trios titles, TripleMania iPPV

20160822cmllpuebla-3-2
Demus & Electrico

CMLL (SUN) 08/21/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Domingos Familiares]
1) Destello & Quca b Avispón Negro & Micro
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Black Sugar & Fugaz b Guerrero de la Muerte & Linterna
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) El Divino & Explosivo b El Chakal & Espectrúm
Tecnicos took 1/3.
4) Esfinge, Kempo Dragón, Magnum b Mr. Trueno, Príncipe Kisho, Rey Trueno
Tecnicos took 2/3.

5) El Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón © b Flash II, Star Black, Vaquero Jr.[OCCIDENTE TRIOS]
Dinamitas took falls 2/3 to keep the trios titles (first defense). Last fall saw Flash II & Forastero eliminated, Cuatrero dove onto Vaquero, and Sanson & Star Black were left. Or they thought it was, but Forastero smacked Sanson with a guitar.

The guitar shot is a reference to a similar spot in the Rayo de Jalisco versus Cien Caras feud.

IWRG (SUN) 08/21/2016 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV, The Gladiatores]
1) Black Dragón & Omega b Araña de Plata & Guerrero 2000
straight falls. Omega replaced Alas de Acero (double booked, couldn’t make it in time?)
2) Diosa Atenea, Miss Gaviota, Relámpago DQ Diva Salvaje, Judas el Traidor, Lilith Dark [Relevos Increíbles]
Salvaje fouled Gaviota
3) Diablo Jr. & El Hijo del Diablo b Black Terry & Cerebro Negro
Diablos won via foul. Diablo Jr. wants a title shot at Cerbero Negro, while Terry wants a rematch in super libre with Hijo del Diablo, or even a title match.
4) Herodes Jr., Imposible, Toscano b Chicano, Pantera I, Veneno
Prior to the match, Imposible surprisingly relinquished the lightweight championship. He said he feels he’s a middleweight now and wants to go after that championship. This upset Pantera I (and the fans), who had wanted a title rematch against Imposible. Imposible cheated to beat Pantera I and mask match challenges followed.
5) Hijo De Dos Caras © DQ Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [IWRG JUNIORS]
first defense. Dos took 1/3. Mascara puled the mask, got the three count, and then referee Maya figured out what had occurred and called the DQ

Imposible’s title reign ending suddenly and with no particular conclusion is a normal IWRG story. (Heddi Karoui is the middlweight champion, who knows when he’ll be around to defend his title next.) This show seems to have been skipped by AYM.

Today’s CMLL Arena Mexico show has Niebla Roja, Euforia, and Ultimo Guerrero against Volador, Valiente and Maximo. The preview pitches it as a another preview of the trios title match on 09/04, but it appeared they were building up a Volador/UG singles match last week and they face off again tonight.

The same CMLL preview has adjusted matches from the two matches right underneath. Super Porky was listed but will not wrestle, but at least CMLL is (slightly) acknowledging the change today. Blue Panther will take his place in the semimain, teaming with Titan & Rey Cometa against Bobby Z, Morphosis and Olimpico. This is Morphosis’ 3rd match in 4 days in CMLL. He’s had 3 total CMLL matches the rest of the year.

Stuka replaces Blue Panther in the lightning match. He’ll face Ripper in the second. Stuka’s listed as also wrestling in Guadalajara tonight and will probably be replaced by a local wrestler. Dalys, Tiffany and Zeuxis are scheduled to face Marcela, Princesa Sugehit and Lluvia in the woman’s match. Shockercito, Stukita and Fantasy take on Mercurio, Pequeno Olimpico and Pequeno Violencia. Leono and Bengala continue their dominance of Tuesday openers, facing Akuma and Artillero.

CMLL’s show airs at 7:30pm on YouTube & CMLL.com.

CMLL’s changed the text on the Rey Bucanero, Euforia, Gran Guerrero versus Super Crazy, Sharlie Rockstar, and Golden Magic from “CMLL to Liga Elite” to generic “Relevos Increibles”. I’m not sure why they’d bother with that unless there was something going on with Elite. We have no idea when (or if) Elite is running a next show, though the TV show account was posting like normal yesterday.

AAA confirmed TripleMania would be on iPPV, in both English and Spanish. The English announce team hasn’t been revealed.  The price remains $23USD, and the show is listed as starting at 6pm on Sunday.

Taya says she’ll be cornering Pentagon at TripleMania. Pentagon/Mundo should be good, but I think we’re going to be watching the match waiting to see when/if Taya betrays Pentagon. Earlier, Taya noted she was moving to the US full time on September 1st, but still plans on being part of AAA for a long time to come.

Lucha Memes posted Dragon Lee versus Freelance from this past Sunday. The ring is obviously slick from a hailstorm that passed thru – Freelance appears to be picking up hailstones as the video starts – but it’s still a pretty entertaining match. They also appeared to very well for the first show in this location; there’s not much empty space.

El Rey Network announced they’ve signed a one year First Look deal with Rey Mysterio, where they get first look at any TV projects Rey might come up with. I assume this means they’re working on something more (though that’s not necessarily the case), and that this might be a creative way for El Rey to pay Mysterio outside the normal structure (and budget) of Lucha Underground.

ILLM has a show at Salon Citalli on 09/11
1: Corsario Negro Jr. vs Gran Guerrero

Lucha Memes Chairo 5 on 09/25 in Arena Naucalpan.
1: Volador Jr. vs Rey Horuz
2: a Lucha Memes vs IWRG Torneo FILL (8v8 cibernetico). They’ll be announcing a new name each day.
IWRG: Black Dragon (7 more)
Lucha Memes: Astrolux (7 more)

DTU/Lucha Libre Boom has a show on 10/16 in Arena Naucalpan.

Kcidis draws Dragon Rojo vs Guerrero Maya Jr.

Alberto’s failed drug test gets the biggest spot on this week’s Box Y Lucha. He’s still not even floated out an explanation of what happened, as far as I know. Maybe he understandable just wants to stay off the radar at the moment. I was a bit surprised when the stories about him & Paige being a couple came out months, because I didn’t know he and his wife had divorced. Turns out Alberto had not gotten divorced and his wife might have found out at about the same time as everyone else, so now that divorce is happening. Alberto’s had a rough 12 months, though a lot of it seems of his own making.

Bugambilia says he’s in the CMLL bodybuilding contest in November. He announced this while promoting the supplements he’s using to get ready for the contest.

LA Park says he’s thinking about retiring, or maybe going away for a year or two or three and seeing if wants to come back.

Dragon Lee, in a post match interview, says he’d like to face Flamita again so people won’t say he only won because Flamita got hurt.

LuchaWorld has the latest news report & this week’s PosterMania.

Cross Armbreaker writes about Perro Aguayo vs Gran Hamada from UWF and the very disappointing Rey Bucanero versus Ultimo Guerrero match.

Cadillac is a new name here. I’m familiar with the car. A wrestler of that name has been seen in Queretaro and Guanajuato – he’s in this match, somewhere.

CMLL (MON) 08/29/2016 Arena Puebla
1) Arkalis, Meyer, Robin vs Artillero, El Malayo, Espíritu Negro
2) Black Tiger, Hombre Bala Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Ares, King Jaguar, Policeman
3) Astral © vs Demus 3:16 [CMLL MINI]
Astral 6th defense
4) Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto vs Kráneo, Olímpico, Ripper
5) Pierroth, Rey Escorpión, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
6) Dragón Lee & Volador Jr. vs La Máscara & Máscara Dorada [Relevos Increíbles]

Main event looks amazing. The Mascara Dorada countdown is on – WWE says the Cruiserweights on 09/19, but Gran Metalik was not specifically name dropped and it’s always said to longer for international guys to complete the WWE signing process – but for now, he’ll team with his old Golden Generation partner in one of the last build up matches prior to the Anniversary. Semimiain is Los Ingobernables. Fourth match is the rematch, third is the title match. Second match is back to Ares/Black Tiger, and also would be Super Halcon’s first appearance after being out with an injury for the last four months.
