Diamante Azul sends Ephesto into orbit
Diamante Azul sends Ephesto into orbit

Recapped: 07/26/2016

What happened: Rey Escorpión cheated to beat Máximo in the main event, setting up a title match next week. Not much else.

What was good: Not much. I guess the semimain was good, but this was a show where most everyone didn’t seem into doing much. Crowd was very into the show and it never bugged them, but this was two boring hours for me.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

Match 1: Bengala & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Cholo
Arena México, 07/26/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Sensei kneebar Cholo (5:04)
    • Bengala triangular de Bengala Apocalipsis (5:33)

    • Chololock on Bengala (2:55)
  3. tecnicos
    • Sensei lock on Cholo (4:28)
    • COR Apocalipsis (4:49)

Winner: técnicos (1/3)
Match Time: 13:17

Review: [below average] the usual Tuesday opener. Bengala was stomping his feet and doing a tornillo, and then Sensei and Cholo messed up a clothesline spot behind him. Do not want.

Match 2: Hombre Bala Jr., Magnus, Robin vs El Cuatrero, Sangre Azteca, Sansón
Arena México, 07/26/2016

  1. rudos
    • Cuatrero inside springboard knee smash Robin (5:10)
    • Sansón knee driver Robin (5:26)
  2. tecnicos
    • Hombre Bala rope flip Spanish Fly Cuatrero (4:36)
    • Magnus springboard senton con giro Sansón (4:57)
  3. rudos
    • Sansón springboard knee smash Magnus (4:45)
    • Sangre Azteca sit down Powerbomb Hombre Bala Jr. (5:07)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 15:30

Review: [ok] more exciting than the opener; the crowd really got into the moment of Robin’s dive. The match didn’t come together in any great way, but the Dinamitas have interesting offense and antagonize the crowd well. Sangre’s first appearance in a while started off very iffy, but got smoother the rest of the way.

Match 3: Blue Panther Jr., Fuego, Tritón vs Puma, Tiger, Virus
Arena México, 07/26/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Fuego La Guelaguetza Tiger (3:50)
    • Triton torito Puma (4:06)
  2. rudos
    • Tiger Canadian Destroyer Triton (4:31)
  3. rudos
    • Puma double powerbomb Blue Panther Jr. (4:05)
    • Tiger backcracker Fuego (5:15)

Winner: rudos (2/3)
Match Time: 13:52

Review: [ok] Crowd was super into Fuego, more than usual, so he lost in the end. Rudos were good, everyone was really good, but this never turned into any extraordinary outside of Triton’s new emo look. It was perfectly fine for this kind of show but also obviously a B match and not something I’d remember a few minutes later.

Match 4: The Panther vs Luciferno in a lightning match
Arena México, 07/26/2016

Winner: Luciferno Crash
Match Time: 7:55

Review: [ok] Panther tried! More that it seems like he’s tried in other matches. And then he lost to Luciferno because CMLL is just formless and meaningless matches. Panther is not afraid to fall on his face very hard, that’s cool.

Match 5: Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Felino, Hechicero
Arena México, 07/26/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Rey Cometa huracanrana Euforia (4:11)
  2. rudos
    • Hechicero Mad Scientist Bomb (3:51)
  3. rudos
    • Euforica Special Stuka Jr. (2:52)
    • Felino reverse figure four Rey Cometa (2:58)

Winner: rudos (2/3)
Match Time: 11:00

Review: [ok] First fall of this match was really active, and crowd was into the match all the way. It didn’t click for me as something special, but the usual big spots went well. Zacarias seems much more active in this match than he has in a while, messing with Rey Cometa on the outside along with his inside spots. Hechicero threw himself over the barricade on the early dives.

Match 6: Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Máximo Sexy vs Ephesto, Rey Escorpión, Ripper
Arena México, 07/26/2016

  1. rudos
    • Rey Escorpión legdrop Máximo (3:18)
  2. rudos
    • Rey Escorpion foul Máximo (2:32)

Winner: rudos (1/2)
Match Time: 5:50

Review: [below average] rushed match, for no particular reason, just existing to set up another Rey Escorpión/Maximo match. The other two técnicos were mostly kept out and mostly contributed the dives at the end (which wasn’t much for Atlantis) and the other rudos mostly added the onto beatdown. Rey Escorpión/Maximo should be pretty good, but this was not.
