trying to call a match and Pentagon’s in your lap

Recapped: 07/16/2016

What happened: Pentagon Jr. won the Latin American championship from Psycho Clown when Pagano ran in. Bestia 666 return as a member of Los Fronterizos and cheated Hector Garza. Gran Apache still hates Venum.

What was good: I liked the main event, even with obvious flaws. First match will look much better as a highlight package than it did as a match.

Where can I watch it: It’s on AAA’s channel and my channel.

Previously: Pagano beat Psycho again, Mesias got himself Dqed with Wagner, and Pentagon earned a shot at Psycho Clown

Psycho Clown hands the now standard opening promo, talking about how Pagano may have beaten him but he’s going to keep the title over Pentagon. Pentagon rebuts by sneaking in the ring and hitting him with a chair. Crowd actually boos! They brawl for a moment before security gets in the way. Pentagon says he’s going to win the title tonight in Ecatepec, and the crowd doesn’t agree.

Match 1: Atomic Boy, Gotita de Plata, Lanzeloth, Venum vs Herodes Jr., Soul Rocker, Súper Fly, Tigre Cota
Centro Civico Nueva Aragon, Ecatepec, Estado de México, 07/03/2016

Winner: técnicos (Venum senton con giro)
Match Time: 8:00
Notes: rudos all get separate music, técnicos all enter to the Air Force music. These are too many green téncicos for Arturo Rivera, who has to apologize for confusing Atomic Boy and Lanzeloth. (Lanzelot’s gear has Lanzeloth written many times in small printed on it.) Apache showed up after the match and hit all the téncicos with a chair for no particular reason. He focused on Venum, taking his mask away.

Review: [ok] exciting but also really kind of sloppy. I’m not sure what Herodes Jr. is good at, but it’s not catching people who are flying at him (and since that’s the primary job of a rudo coming in at his level, that’s not a promising sign for him.) Even guys who are normally good, like Soul Rocker, looked a little bit off. Not sure if eight people made it too frantic to keep up. The técnicos looked cool, though the cameras were also having a hard time catching up. Gotita’s really let his hair grow out, I’m surprised his parents haven’t made him go get a haircut. The Apache/Venum feud has not advanced in five months.

Match 2: Bengala, Garza Jr., La Parka vs Bestia 666, Damián 666, Nicho el Millionario
Centro Civico Nueva Aragon, Ecatepec, Estado de México, 07/03/2016

Winner: rudos (Bestia 666 reversed cradle with ropes Bengala)
Match Time: 10:21
Notes: Damian 666 introduces his son Bestia 666 as their surprise partner. Nicho is wearing “664” on his back, but that’s to the Tijuana area code. Rudos attack Garza Jr. (and Bengala) when Garza gets to the ring. Parka isn’t too bothered to stop dancing and high fiving people. Bestia reversed a sunset flip into the corner to grab the ropes. Piero wasn’t distracted and there’s no reason he should’ve missed the rope grab, but he did.

Review: [ok] a fine enough house show trios match. The crowd was really into Parka, they were really into Garza, they were really into Bengala (only in that Bengala winning would mean the other two would win, mostly.) I believe it’s part of Parka’s gimmick now that he has terrible offense, as his fearsome shoves were knocking around Damian

Noti AAA

  • TripleMania tickets hype

  • Psycho and Pagano have issues. Psycho seems to think he’ll win next time. It’s noted Pagano has beat Psycho Clown four times in a row.

  • Pentagon won the upcoming title shot on last week’s show, we’re shown.

Match 3: Psycho Clown © vs Pentagón Jr. for the AAA Latin American Championship
Centro Civico Nueva Aragon, Ecatepec, Estado de México, 07/03/2016

RUDO VISIONthecubsfanLucha Libre AAA

Winner: Pentagon Jr. (top rope double stomp)
Match Time: 13:52
Notes: Pentagon took out Piero with a chair to the back about 10 minutes in, then set up a table/chair setup. Psycho Clown gave Pentagon a Canadian Destroyer thru the table, and counted his own pin. Pagano ran out at that point, hitting Psycho with a barbed wire bat a couple time, including once as a low blow, and gave Psycho Clown his own finishing moving onto a chair. Pentagon recovered, top rope double stomped Psycho Clown (as a tribute to Perro Aguayo), and Tirantes ran into make the count. Pentagon is the new champion. Psycho Clown is put in a neck brace and stretchered out.

(Pentagon, who just took a Canadian Destroyer thru a table two minutes prior, is fine after his win.)

Review: [good] a match with a lot of big moves and a very excited crowd, but not one that really came together strongly. It was just a lot of moves that could’ve been done in any order and meant just about the same. There wasn’t any story until the ref bump. The moves were interesting in themselves, but this one where Pentagon’s not as interesting in AAA as he is elsewhere or Psycho Clown is not the best opponent for him. It makes sense to doing a ref bump to hide the spots that should be a DQ, but if the ref bump is caused by hitting the ref with a chair, shouldn’t it have just been a DQ from the start? That was quite dumb. The win really didn’t do much for Pentagon and almost came off like he and Pagano were now meant to be allies, but this moment was really more about the Psycho/Pagano feud anyway. Pentagon getting a belt is just a nice side effect.
