07/11 update:

The big changes are in the middle of the card. Aerostar & Drago are pulled out of the title #1 contenders match, with Murder Clown & Monster Clown taking their place. Aerostar gets paired with Garza Jr. against Daga & Super Fly, with the last three all being added to the card to replace Fenix vs Pentagon.

I had been alerted a little while back not to get too excited for the Fenix/Pentagon match, so I assume now they were pulled off the card for a while and it was just announced now. (Remember, the original card was something shared early and not official.) I guess I can go back to annoying people to do that match again. I would assume Pentagon, Fenix and Drago are all booked somewhere else, maybe a US indie show I don’t have in the database.

That tag match might be the best chance for Garza Jr. to have a great match in AAA so far. It’s not going to be Fenix/Pentagon, but I hope they get to go for it.

She’s still listed as a mystery person on the poster, but the mystery luchadora is probably Big Mami.

Original Post (June 23)

KrisZ found this lineup earlier, and it fits the expectation of Oaxaca being a one week taping. It’s a pretty interesting week.

The big news for people who read this site in the tercera: Fenix versus Pentagon Jr. happened in Los Angeles, happened in London, happened in Tokyo, happened in Chicago, happened in Texas, was about to happen in New York City, probably happened in Arena Victoria or Arena Aficion some day long ago, and now it’s finally going to happen on an AAA TV show. This lack of this match was symbolic of AAA’s lack of creativity and unwilling to focus on any of it’s youngsters – they had plenty of chances to do that match over the last five years, and everyone else was/(is?) getting more out of AAA’s own wrestlers than AAA.

Alone, it’s cool that match finally gets to be shown to Mexican fans. The context is more interesting

Ecatepec: Pentagon Jr. vs Psycho Clown for the Latin American Championship, Fenix vs Daga vs Aerostar for a Cruiserweight Title shot
CDMX: Fenix vs Daga
Oaxaca: Fenix vs Pentagon Jr.

AAA carving out a spot for their young wrestlers to have spotlight singles matches is something people have asking for forever. It seems to be happening, at least for the moment. It’s not something  that’s going to pay dividends right away, but it’s something that needs to help these guys in the long term, and it should provide a lot better TV show.  Fenix is likely going to be the #1 contenders to the Cruiserweight title if Aerostar & Drago are challenging for the tag titles and Pentagon Jr. could be Latin American champion (though I’m skeptical that’ll happen.)

The other story on this show is Angelico & Jack returning. Aerostar & Drago should earn a titles shot in DF, but this is also the former tag team champions getting back together for the first time this year due to various injuries. It’s going to be great to have them back.

Main event is about what was expected for the Verano de Escandalo show, only with Psycho Clown in Texano’s spot. Second match could be good and suggests Herodes & Cota are in full time and not just for an odd one shot. The mystery woman in the opener is likely the same as in Mexico City. That opener probably isn’t airing – maybe a YouTube exclusive.

Next taping is 07/29 in Toluca, which will probably be the last TV taping before TripleMania. Based on the matches not being scheduled yet, it seems likely Texano/Wagner and Fantasma’s defense are currently scheduled for that show.  I don’t know if it’ll draw, but that alone sounds like a better card than last year.
