Sobernao tornillo
Sobernao double tornillo

Recapped: 07/05/2016

What happened: Dalys retained her title over Estrellita. Shocker fouled Marco in the main event, which may or may not mean anything.

What was good: Nothing, really. This show should be missed. I didn’t have much to say about this.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

Match 1: Leono & Bengala vs Apocalipsis & Camorra
Arena México, 07/05/2016

    • Bengala Roll on Camorra (3:04)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 10:29
Notes: Bengala replaced Robin

Review: [below average] usual boring opener. It feels like these guys have wrestled a million times even when they haven’t (because it’s off a bit by one person or another.) Camorra struggled taking the Bengala cradle he does in ever match, that’s where this is at right now.

Notes: Flyer replaced Stigma.

Review: [below average] another match largely not worth the time I’ve

CMLL’s figured Canelo out – he’s only being booked in the death spots on Tuesday and Saturdays the last few months – but we still have to see him here every few weeks and it’s not so great. He had some fairly obvious errors, including leading into his third fall win. Soberano’s the best guy in this match and needs not to paralyze himself taking the stunner over the ropes like he did here.

Match 3: Dalys © vs Estrellita for the CMLL World Women’s Championship
Arena México, 07/05/2016

  1. Dalys reversed cradle (4:53)
  2. Estrellita torito (2:36)
  3. Dalys powerbomb (8:26)

Winner: Dalys (1/3)
Match Time: 15:55
Notes: Zeuxis & Angel de Oro were the seconds, Tirantes the ref.

Review: [below average] They did the big spot match you’d expect from these two in this situation, with it also feeling as rehearsed and artificial at points as ever. Estrellita came off as sloppier than usual in this situation, with her offense not going well and getting lost a time or two. Dalys also had some weak moments of landing weirdly or to finishing out a move. I’m not a big fan of either person, but this didn’t seem like an average match even by their usual standards.

Match 4: Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Triton vs Misterioso Jr., Olímpico, Ripper
Arena México, 07/05/2016

  1. rudos
    • Olímpico cristo Negro Guerrero Maya Jr. (6:26)
    • Misterioso grounded octopus Blue Panther (6:26)

    • Misterioso Gori Special Guerrero Maya (3:57)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 13:18
Notes: Triton replaced Rey Cometa

Review: [OK] Largely an average match, with the last 4 or so minutes being the highlight. Triton looked on, for as much as he got to do. Rudos put in some effort but this wasn’t a particularly deep match. Wrong team won.

Match 5: Ángel de Oro, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Sam Adonis, Vangellys
Arena México, 07/05/2016

  1. rudos
    • Sam Adonis side slam Valiente (5:06)
  2. tecnicos
    • Angel de Oro huracanrana Rey Bucanero (1:45)
  3. técnicos
    • Stuka torpedo splash Sam Adonis (5:12)
    • Valiente low dropkick Vangellys (5:15)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 12:06

Review: [ok] maybe the best match of the show so far, though nothing special. Just kind of professional midcard match. Sam Adonis fit in better here than other trios matches on streaming shows, though he also got leveled by Valiente’s tope. It came in at the very right/wrong level.

Match 6: Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Michael Elgin vs Kráneo, Shocker, Terrible
Arena México, 07/05/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Elgin powerslam Kraneo (8:48)
    • Diamante Azul suplex Rey Bucanero (8:54)
  2. técnicos
    • DQ Shocker [foul on Marco Corleone] (5:36)

Winner: técnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 14:30

Review: [ok] This ended up as the best match of the night, but I was so tired of this show that it was really hard to get into it at first. It may work better in isolation. Elgin doing strong man spots were good, Shocker doing the bend over spear spear was not as good. Somehow, Elgin went two straight matches without interacting with the mascots.
