The Monday/Tuesday streams have settled into an unhappy pattern of one really good match and a lot of ok/not even OK matches. This kind of fit that as well. Esterllita & Dalys seemed worse than usual and I’m not looking forward to that title match. Guerrero Maya & Dragon Rojo may have been doing their own angle, which is perfectly fine – someone ought to be doing angles.

We got new move names on the show: Esterllita’s bridging pin is Star Gate, Fuego’s cradle is La Guelaguetza. Puma’s submission move also finally got a name over the weekend, the Kingdom.

Esfinge defeated Furia Roja in their mask match in Guadalajara. Furia Roja is Ivan Alejandro Lemus Pérez.

Tonight’s Lucha Underground is episode #23 of the season, “The Phoenix, the Dragon and the Spaceman”. Matches scheduled

  • Dragon Azteca Jr. versus Prince Puma
  • Mil Muertes versus King Cuerno (video clip)
  • a third match which hasn’t been announced.

The title is a reference to Fenix, Drago and Aerostar, a trio many have guessed are teaming up once again to go after the trios championship. That – and anything else for Ultima Lucha – would figure to be set up tonight. Ultima Lucha Dos begins next week.

Eric previews the episode.

AAA held a press event yesterday to promote the tapings in Ecatepec (Sunday) and Ciudad de Mexico (next Friday.) During the interviews, Faby Apache again challenged Averno & Chessman for a tag team title match, and it turned into a brawl. Given the pace of this feud, maybe we ought to start penciling that in as a TripleMania match. The Gladiatores has video from all the interviews at the press conference.

Taya mentioned yesterday that she’s moving to the US. She says she’s going to continue working AAA TV while also working her own schedule in the US. That’s a hard schedule to keep up, for both sides, so this might be the beginning of the end (but that end also seems far off.)

In a Facebook video, Roberto Figueroa explains what happened with Rush missing his flight to Monterrey, from his side. LigerFever translated the monologue. It seems part the Juarez promoter’s fault (for not getting Rush to the airport as planned), part Rush’s fault (for not getting on the second flight) and part whoever decides there’s only two flights from Juarez to Monterrey on Sunday. Rush posted a video (on Mistico’s Facebook of all things) where he’s very much not happy about how public Figueroa has made this situation. Rush is scheduled in Monterrey again this Sunday and says he’ll have a chat with Figueroa.

+Lucha has video of last week’s Gran Prix press conference. Marco says it’s his favorite event; it certainly helped him enter CMLL, which has changed the course of his life. CMLL has notes from the press conference and talks about the history of the event. Mugs Noticas starts a series introducing all the Gran Prix luchadors before Friday.

Elite announced they were off this Thursday, but would return next Thursday. That’s what we assumed, but they didn’t announced it last time they did this.

Guanajuato luchador Sobredosis has passed away.

NorteDigital has the beginning of a feature on lucha libre in Juarez.

Volador Jr., Marco Corleone and Valiente main event the normal Coliseo Coacalco show this week, with a great sounding Puma/Tiger vs Aramis/Alas de Acero semimain event.

NJPW released a DVD covering this year’s FantasticaMania tour today.

Lineup

CMLL (TUE) 07/05/2016 Arena México
1) Leono & Robin vs Apocalipsis & Camorra

6) Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Michael Elgin vs Kráneo, Shocker, Terrible

If you couldn’t go a Tuesday without Leono & Apocalipsis, you’re in luck!

Honestly, I didn’t now I wanted to see Michael Elgin versus Kraneo until they booked that match. But the other matches they booked aren’t so interesting.

CMLL (TUE) 07/05/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Magnum & Vaquero Jr. vs Furia Roja & Linterna
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Sensei, Star Jr. vs Fujin, Okumura, Raijin
3) Blue Panther Jr., Starman, The Panther vs Disturbio, Puma, Tiger
4) Máscara Dorada, Súper Porky, Titán vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto, Pólvora
5) Atlantis, Johnny Idol, Kushida vs Euforia, Tangaroa, Último Guerrero

Volador/Tonga sounds fun. Still annoying how they’re kind of wasting Kushida on these shows, but that’s slightly better than usual.
