young tecnicos win a fall
young tecnicos win a fall

Recapped: 06/21/2016

What happened: Dalys & Estrellita are now feuding. That’s it.

What was good: The second match went well and the main event was good by the usual Tuesday standard.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Match 1: Fantasy & Último Dragóncito vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia
Arena México, 06/21/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Ultimo Dragoncito octopus Pequeño Olímpico (3:41)
    • Fantasy kneebar Pequeño Violencia (4:07)
  2. rudos
    • Pequeño Olímpico seated armbar Fatnasy (4:04)
    • Pequeño Violencia nudo lagunero Ultimo Dragon (4:23)
  3. rudos
    • Pequeño Violencia ankle trap Fantasy (3:41)
    • Pequeño Olímpico a la de cabllo Ultimo Dragoncito (4:23)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:53

Review: [ok] They were moving around a lot while not doing much in the first fall, and then they just skipped moving around a lot in the other falls. Pequeño Violencia was doing some biting and some moves and neither in any particular hurry. Tecnicos didn’t seem to get much of a comeback. Fantasy and Pequeño Olímpico had some horrible punches, which is probably why I’ve never seen them throw many punches before now.

Match 2: Hombre Bala Jr., Soberano Jr., Star Jr. vs Cancerbero, Disturbio, Raziel
Arena México, 06/21/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Star Jr. tornillo Disturbio (8:37)
  2. rudos
    • Raziel catapult/Cancerbero bulldog Hombre Bala Jr. (5:25)
  3. técnicos
    • Hombre Bala Santa Maria Cancerbero (3:11)
    • Disturbio inverted cloverleaf Star Jr. (3:52)
    • Soberano Jr. headscissors cradle Raziel (4:41)

Winner: técnicos (1/3)
Match Time: 18:43

Review: [good] Kind of how you’d hope these matches would go all the time, with the técnicos surviving the rudos beatings to look spectacular. This was a really good trios team that showed some teamwork and also looked spectacular on their own, and their runs at the end of the first and third fall were pretty entertaining. The Canceberos didn’t dominate quite as much as usual and the técnicos were just doing trickier moves than usual.

Match 3: Estrellita, Lluvia, Marcela vs Amapola, Dalys, Tiffany
Arena México, 06/21/2016

  1. tecnicas
    • Lluvia corner dropkick Tiffany (5:39)
    • Marcela bodyscissors cradle Amapola (5:45)
  2. técnicos
    • DQ Dalys [ref shove] (5:02)

Winner: técnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 10:47
Notes: Dalys was choking Estrellita on the ropes and refusing to break when she got confronted and disqualified. Dalys and Estrellita brawled after this match.

Review: [ok] like a lot of CMLL women’s matches, where it felt very rehearsed and not all that smooth. Estrellita versus Dalys sounds like it’s going to be a struggle, but at least Estrellita really threw herself into her tope and they had some emotion in their post match brawl. Marcela does a lot of one foot dropkicks nowadays.

Match 4: Blue Panther Jr. vs Misterioso Jr. in a lightning match
Arena México, 06/21/2016

Winner: Misterioso (Gori Special)
Match Time: 6:33

Review: [ok] A match with some moves and not much personality. The stop sign strip spot is so played out. Panther at least needs to come up with a different way of doing it, instead of looking like the lesser version of four other people who’ve done it before. That’s the big issue with Blue Panther, who has his dad’s name and does the same double top spot as him, and is not helped by the comparisons.

Match 5: Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Arena México, 06/21/2016

  1. rudos
    • Dragon Rojo low blow dropkick Guerrero Maya (3:10)
    • Rey Escorpión step over standing armbar Blue Panther (3:29)
  2. técnicos
    • Rey Cometa torito Pólvora (3:06)
    • Blue Panther anklelock Dragon Rojo (3:08)
  3. rudos
    • Dragon Rojo inverted Gori Special Guerrero (5:59)
    • Rey Escorpión pulpo Blue Panther (5:59)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 12:36

Review: [ok] a bit of a relaxed match by the standards of those involved. None of the Blue Panther finish creativity, and Guerrero Maya & Rey Cometa looking more ordinary than you’d expect against what is (or was) a pretty good rudo trio. The rudos were there for the técnicos big moves but didn’t add a lot of their own. Following up on the Maya/Dragon bit was good, and it looks like that inverted Gori is going to be a new Dragon Rojo move going forward, but this wasn’t much.

Match 6: Stuka Jr., Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Arena México, 06/21/2016

  1. Guerreros
    • triple submission (4:44)
  2. técnicos
    • Volador springboard splash Niebla Roja (2:00)
    • Valiente Indian Deathlock Ultimo Guerrero (2:05)
  3. Guerreros
    • W Guerrera on the técnicos (4:19)

Winner: Guerreros (1/3)
Match Time: 11:08

Review: [good] Quick main event not long, but moving pretty fast all the way thru, with the highlight being the sequence early in the third fall leading to the dives. The Guerreros section was a lot of their usual stuff, though breaking out two different team submissions is unusual for them. Tecnicos did their normal offense fine. This didn’t rise to the level of anything very memorable but was still enjoyable.
