No detailed results; usually there’s some that turn up by now and I have less a feel about the matches than usual. Attendance looks very good in the photos.

CMLL tonight has the debuts of Johnny Idol and Sam Adonis, who will be participating in next week’s Gran Prix. Idol is starting as a tecnico, teaming with Diamante Azul & Rush versus Adonis, Cibernetico and Ultimo Guerrero. Last week’s main event focused on a Cibernetico/Rush feud, and it might continue here. (Rush might as well stay busy here, because he’s not being used in Arena Mexico outside of the Elite shows for a while now.)

Maximo makes his seventh defense of the heavyweight title against Shocker. It’d a bad decision for Shocker to win and it’s a questionable for him to be in singles matches at all; all of the knee injuries have slowed and limited the challenger and this doesn’t seem like the best use of him. Maximo’s had some surprisingly strong title defenses this year, but this would be the biggest surprise.

It’s a five match show. The tercera looks good, with the Japanese trios taking on the Panthers & Cometa. Robin, Starman and Zaeta Roja take on Fuerza Chicana, King Jaguar and Policeman in the segunda, and Vega returns to team with Milenium against Guerrero Espacial & Inquisidor.

The show will air as normal at 9pm CT on CMLL.com & YouTube.

NJPW officially announced Kushida & Michael Elgin coming to Mexico (and missing NJPW shows, which is their big concern.) Elgin will be in from 06/22 to 07/12 and Kushida 06/23 to 07/16. That means they’re both going to be still around after the Gran Prix, with Kushida sticking around a couple Fridays after. Both are champions and possibly could defend their titles in CMLL while here. There’s no mention of Tama Tonga & Tanga Roa.

There’s no lineup for Arena Coliseo this upcoming Saturday. I think they’re running. They’re definitely not running next Saturday; there’s already a boxing event on July 2nd.

The web series Anonimo will have a 12 episode season starting June 28 where the lead character wakes up in Mexico City as a luchador, and no one remembers his previous life. The show worked with AAA for the series, the lead actor is Colombian Rafael Novoa, and Novoa mentions wanting to bring in an AAA show to Colombia. That sounds part of the plan for AAA to return to Colombia, hinted in the lead up to the Lucha World Cup. There’s a trailer for the season with some familiar faces.

AAA has photos of Angelico rehabbing.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 06/26/2016 Arena México
1) Bengala & Leono vs Artillero & Camorra
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Magnus, Mr. México Jr. vs Black Scorpió, Canelo Casas, Hijo del Signo
3) Fuego, Pegasso, Tritón vs Misterioso Jr., Okumura, Virus
4) Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr., Volador Jr. vs Pierroth, Tama Tonga, Tangaroa
5) Kushida, Marco Corleone, Michael Elgin vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero

Elgin and Kushida start on Thursday with Elite, but this is their first regular CMLL card (and they both appear to be tecnicos.) Pierroth, Tama Tonga and Tangaroa is quite the team.

Mr. Mexico Jr. & Black Scorpio are added to the list of random new people showing up this year. Mr. Mexico debuted last August in Arena Lopez Mateos, teaming with former CMLL wrestler Mr. Mexico and billed as his son. I believe he showed up at the last bodybuilding contest (and “Mr. Mexico” is a bodybuiliding gimmick.) Black Scorpio is Rey Escorpion’s brother and has been training with CMLL for a couple years, wrestling rarely around Mexico City.

CMLL (SUN) 06/26/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Avispón Negro Jr. vs Guerrero de la Muerte
2) El Alteño & El Yaqui vs Destructor & Diplomático
3) El Divino, Neutrón, Vaquero Jr. vs Carlo Roggi, Gran Kenut, Mr. Apolo
4) Joker © vs Nautilius [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
first defense
5) Star Black vs Thunder Boy, Mr. Brisa, Capitán Cobra, Reycko, El Gitano, Linterna, Cosmos, Explosivo, Relámpago [mask, cage]

The 10 luchadors in the cage match haven’t even been pushed strongly in Mexico City, so literally everyone is in danger of losing their mask. (That’s not the ex-AAA Relampago.) Joker seems a safe bet to keep his title but Occidente championship can be random.

One thought to “Chairo 4 results, Puebla preview, AAA/Colombia”

  1. The comments on the Mas Lucha Facebook page seem to insinuate that Mephisto was working hurt, and that the title match was very bad as a result. If Mephisto wasn’t 100%, they should’ve pushed back the defense, but let’s hope he gets better.
