CARA LUCHA (SAT) 06/11/2016 Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México [+LuchaTV, Black Terry Jr., Carxyus, The Gladiatores]
1) Baby Extreme & Leónidas b Imperio Negro & Yin Sang
2) Demasiado & Diva Salvaje b Fly Metalik & La Jarochita
Fly Metalica replaced India Sioux. Demasiado injured a leg.
3) Dallys la Caribeña & Zeuxis b Estrellita & Lady Maravilla
Estrellita blamed Lady Maravilla for the loss.
4) Toro Negro II, Toro Negro III, Toro Negro Jr. b Centvrión, Fly Warrior, Látigo FlyWarrior/Centurion/Latigo vs ToroNegro Jr/ToroNegroII/ToroNegroIII | Cara Lucha | 11/06/16 (posted by tvluchadelpasado)
The new Toro Negros debuted with a win, getting some revenge for Latino unmasking Toro Negro Jr. at the last show.
5) Andy Boy, Danger, Guerrero Mixtico DQ Canis Lupus, Dr. Cerebro, Eterno Dr. Cerebro, Eterno y Canis Lupus vs Guerrero Mixtico, Danger y Andy Boy | Cara Lucha | 11/06/16 (posted by tvluchadelpasado)
Straight win for Neza over the Naucalpan team, though the second fall came via excessive violence DQ. Canis and Mixtico feuded and bled quite a bit. Mixtico lost his mask to Comando Negro (Lupus’ old identity) long ago. Neza Kings wanted another match, but the IWRG team only would accept if it’s held in their home building.
6) Cavernario DQ Black Terry Cavernario vs Black Terry | Cara Lucha | 11/06/16 (posted by tvluchadelpasado)
Terry went crazy and fouled Cavernario after Cavernario got the ropes on a hold. Feud appeared not to be over.

Main event sounds like it was pretty good. This is one night after Black Terry lost his hair to Aeroboy in Tulancingo; he works a hard scheduled for any age. (Black Terry Jr. also has photos of the hair match show.)

Attendance does look like it was down for this show.

Herodes won a three way over Caifan & Trauma II in the main event of the first Kamicazes del Ring show the same night in Coacalco. It doesn’t look like they drew as well as Lucha Memes or Chilanga Mask in the arena, though on a different night than they usually run.

CMLL (SUN) 06/12/2016 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Stukita & Último Dragóncito b Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Violencia
2) Hijo del Signo, Nitro, Sangre Azteca b Hombre Bala Jr., Metatrón, Oro Jr.
Metatron worked here (which means not as scheduled in GDL.)
3) Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., The Panther b Fujin, Okumura, Raijin
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Stuka Jr. b Ephesto, Luciferno, Niebla Roja
5) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone DQ Mephisto, Mr. Niebla, Shocker
Diamante Azul/Shocker feuded, Shocker fouled Azul.

A Diamante Azul/Shocker feud makes me happy this is not a TV taping. Happy to pass on that.  No Saturday show this week.

Former CMLL luchador Zayco, real name Armando Cota, passed away. There are no details about his death and it’s unclear when he died (this El Dandy Facebook post suggests it may have happened a while ago.) Zayco had survived a previous brush with death when he was stabbed in the back near his home area of Sonora many years ago. Zayco was a lanky iron masked rudo from 2005 to 2014 who never graduated from the early matches and never got to have many career highlights as a result. He’s the son of legendary wrestler Mocho Cota and the brother of occasional AAA luchador Mocha (Tigre) Cota Junior. Zayco also was part of CMLL’s security staff; we see him work an opener and then work security the rest of the show the time we saw him wrestle in Arena Mexico. Zayco’s Facebook indicates his 2014 departure from the ring was due to a knee injury and he had hoped to return – it’s unclear if he changed his mind, or if CMLL just didn’t have a spot for him any longer. It looks like he was still doing security work at least as recent as earlier this year.

Monterrey luchadora Flor de Loto also passed away Saturday. She’d been battling an undisclosed cancer and appeared at at a benefit show for her a couple weeks ago. She’d been a local fixture since the 90s and was wrestling as recent as last fall.

SuperLuchas posted a list of who they believe is in WWE’s Cruiserweight Classic – the 11 names confirmed and the 21 more names they’ve heard or seen rumored. I can’t confirm the list. I know a French website had a similar list earlier in the weekend, though they didn’t have 32. SuperLuchas confirmed Ronnie Mendoza/Jinzo and Zumbi are participating. Mendoza’s name had whispered about participating for a few weeks – he was the guy I was talking about on Twitter around then.

Jinzo’s change to being Ronnie Mendoza might have been inspired by WWE. Chile’s XL, who’s wrestled in Mexico feuding with Super Crazy back in 2012, is listed under his real name of Alejandro Sáez, so maybe WWE’s encouraging them to not use gimmick names. Zumbi, who’s style was said to impress WWE officials, would obviously stick with his gimmick name since he’s masked.

All three guys appear to have connections with Super Crazy. He brought XL to Mexico and seemed to be the conduit for the NOAH/Chile relationship that was going on for a time. He recommended Jinzo for NOAH – the SuperLuchas post tells that story. He might be the guy, or one of the guys, picking the indie talent for Elite, which would be the connection to both Jinzo and Zumbi (who’s quietly vanished from Elite after being a heavily featured guy in the lead up to the TV show.) Super Crazy knows everyone, has been everywhere, and probably is a good guy to keep in touch with if you’re WWE and looking for talent out of areas of the world you’re not as familiar with.

The WON, two weeks ago, had a news bit mentioning WWE bringing in a Mexican for this, but giving him a new look and new name and theorizing it’s because WWE didn’t want anyone to know who he was previously. Meltzer did not know who this was when he wrote the bit, but I had assumed it was Jinzo and he just had a few details wrong. Now, I’m thinking I was wrong – Jinzo doesn’t fit, because he’s been using his new name in Mexico and everyone’s going to know the previous identity of a guy with no mask no matter what name he uses. I’m thinking the item was about a masked guy. This is not simply idle speculation; there’s recent and strong rumors about other Mexican participants who would make news by participating.  (Masked Republic also seems to have heard of another Mexican name.)

Other thing: Andrade Almas is on the SuperLuchas list, though WWE noticeably announced him as 210 pounds on Takeover, which would make him too heavy to compete. (He could also reasonably ‘lose’ five pounds before then, but it’s unlikely that number was an accident or done unaware of the announced 205 limit.) I was sure he’d be a favorite to win this when it was announced, now I’m not sure that’s his path at all.

LigerFever has a recap of Konnan’s latest podcast. Konnan’s now saying an anonymous person gave him the Lucha World Cup results, he thought this was a conspiracy plan to by Dorian to make him look bad, but the anonymous person said he got the results from unhappy people in AAA. (On Twitter & Facebook the day of the show, Konnan previously claimed he was actually in the crowd in Puebla under a mask and that’s how he got the results.) Konnan said he shouldn’t have given out the results. This conversation came out one where Konnan revealed AAA/Dorian had sent Konnan documents saying he wasn’t allowed to talk bad about AAA, and Konnan didn’t think much of that. There’s some talk about Rush vs LA Park as the anniversary main event, with Rush losing. Konnan doesn’t think that makes any sense (and neither do I.)

Flamita canceled off today’s Arena Jalisco show due to health issues. My understanding is it’s nothing so serious that it’ll keep him out of working in Cleveland next weekend.

AAA’s posted this week’s TV show.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report.

RobViper has highlights of 11/02/15 AAA.

Wrestling With Words has reviews of Rey Cometa/Barbaro Cavernario and the 03/07/15 CaraLucha show.

The latest episode of Sopersa! Es Lucha! talks about the CaraLucah 2nd Anniversary show and the Lucha World Cup.

Lineup

ELITE (THU) 06/16/2016 Arena México
1) Astral & Eléctrico vs Pequeño Violencia & Pierroth
2) Emperador Azteca, Metaleón, Rey Cometa vs Fujin, Okumura, Raijin
3) Flamita, Golden Magic, Hijo De Dos Caras vs Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Magno, Magnus
4) El Hijo De Amo De Los 8 Angulos & Octagón vs Fuerza Guerrera & Juventud Guerrera
5) Máscara Dorada vs Atlantis, La Máscara, Rush, Carístico, Cibernético, Xtreme Tiger, Volador Jr., Diamante Azul, Rey Escorpión [Elite Rumble]
winner represents Mexico in an Torneo Internacional de Lucha Libre Elite

Elite hinted at an upcoming international competition on TV this week, but didn’t explain much. It’s possible the NJPW guys coming in for the 07/01 Gran Prix will also be working the Thursday night before, and that’s what this is setting up. Rush’s one month suspension ended up as 26 days. Close!

Octagon is the lover of 8 angles, and his partner is Hijo del Octagon but not using that name. Probably legal reasons. CMLL’s not wanted to be Alebrije, Histeria and Psicosis on TV under those name because of legal issues and Elite avoided showing Octagon prior, so there’s a chance that wouldn’t air (and maybe more of the undercard would.) Juvy is calling Hijo del Octagon a fake Octagon on Twitter, is always amusing.

CMLL (SAT) 06/18/2016 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala vs Cholo
2) Flyer vs Apocalipsis
3) Star Jr. vs Artillero
4) Oro Jr. vs Hijo del Signo
5) Fuego & Hombre Bala Jr. vs Disturbio & Sangre Azteca
6) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Máximo Sexy vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
7) Atlantis vs La Máscara

Atlantis versus La Mascara is a match, for sure. Bengala & Cholo being the opener on the show that was intended to be the trainee showcase show is about right for CMLL.

CMLL (SUN) 06/19/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Capitán Cobra & Cosmos vs Gitano & Relámpago
2) Explosivo, Reycko, Star Black vs Linterna, Mr. Brisa, Thunder Boy

5) Halcón Furia & Magnum vs Furia Roja & Furia Roja Jr. and El Yaqui & Nube Roja and El Lider & Ráfaga and El Brujo & Fugaz and Centella & Évola
father/son tag tournament.

I think that’s some new father/sons being revealed in the main event. More noteworthy is Esfinge & Triton showing up here on a Sunday.

CMLL (SUN) 06/19/2016 Arena México
1) Stukita & Último Dragóncito vs Demus 3:16 & Mercurio
2) Bandido, Pegasso, Stigma vs El Cuatrero, Sansón, Skándalo
3) Estrellita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Dalys, Tiffany
4) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther vs Felino, Puma, Tiger
5) Diamante Azul vs Shocker
6) Marco Corleone, Súper Porky, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero

I don’t want to see much of this card, but I’m sure that fourth match will be fun.

Bandido makes his official CMLL debut after appearing on ELITE the last few weeks. People smarter than me think he’s Magnifico II, but don’t take that as confirmed yet. He doesn’t seem to be giving it away on his Facebook (as his brother Magia Blanca did), and still mentions Santo trip to London which he wouldn’t probably be allowed to do if he was working in CMLL. Bobby Z was pulled of those shows later year. I don’t know.
