12:48. Scheduled to be Mephisto defending his Welterweight title against Caristico, but Mephisto was hurt and unable to wrestle. Mephisto offered to forfeit the title, but Caristico wants to postpone the title match for another date. Rey Escorpion replaced him. Caristico took 1/3. Caristico wanted a hair match with Rey Escorpion, but Rey Escorpion refused to do such things in Puebla.

A good Puebla show, with entertainment from both the locals and the DF regulars.

The replacement main event was good! It was also a replacement main event. Unless Rey Escorpion was just riding all the way up to Puebla as a backup, CMLL knew they weren’t going to do the promised title match all afternoon, and elected not to actually tell anyone until the main event. That’s not good.

Lucha Memes had announced the title match winner would face Caifan next Sunday. Since the match didn’t happen, they’ve said they’ll contact CMLL and work out the next step. Mephisto was obviously hurting walking to the ring, but wasn’t on crutches or in any brace or cast, so it seemed possible he could just be fine to wrestle in 12 days. It did seem like the plan was for no title change last night – they would’ve just had Mephisto forfeit the title to Caristico last night if the title change if that needed to happen.

Tonight’s Arena Mexico show has a main event of Peste Negra (Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Felino) versus Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone and Titan, which might be the best match on the show. It’s not a  promising show. Dragon Lee was listed in the semimain despite being scheduled out for at least another week and a half with his knee injury, but now the preview lists Super Porky in his place. He teams with Guerrero Maya Jr. & Valiente versus Rey Bucanero, Vangellys and Dragon Rojo.

There’s no ongoing feuds and the card is pretty lackluster; this is as skippable a show as CMLL provides. There still will be a stream at 7:30pm on CMLL & YouTube and I’ll still do a recap, but maybe catching up on otheer stuff would be a better use of your time.

Lineups

ELITE (THU) 06/09/2016 Arena México
1) Estrellita & Marcela vs Keira & Lady Maravilla
2) Dinamic Black, El Bandido, Fuego (CMLL) vs Eterno, Fresero Jr., Luzbel
3) Flamita, Rocky Lobo, Titán vs Argos, Puma, Tiger
4) Cibernético vs Negro Casas [Liga Elite]
5) Ángel de Oro, Carístico, Golden Magic vs Diamante Azul, Mr. Niebla, Rey Escorpión
6) Atlantis vs Último Guerrero [Liga Elite]

The Liga Elite matches make some sense this week. Both Cibernetico & Negro Casas have only had a single match (three behind the leaders) so they had to have a match. Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero are a match behind as well.

No idea why Diamante Azul is a rudo, except they’re doing big guys versus not big guys.

AAA refugees Flamita, Lady Maravilla and Keira all make their debuts on the show. (It’s unclear if Keira was ever part of AAA, but the other two situations are well known by now.) Flamita versus the Cats should be awesome and there’s a couple other greats guys along for the ride. There’s better people to be the sixth person than Argos, but I’d take it just to get that match. I’m just sad it appears not to be a TV match unless they change the usual pattern.

Before the Octagon Jr., and AAA, and Dragon Gate, Flamita was an CMLL trainee who never got to debut because the people in charge thought he was too small. He made a sole appearance on a special show in Arena Coliseo, but never got to wrestle in Arena Mexico. He finally gets to make his debut on Thursday and I’d suspect he’ll be like the other undercard guys and show up irregularly when he’s not busy elsewhere.

CMLL (MON) 06/13/2016 Arena Puebla
1) Astro & Meyer vs Espíritu Maligno & Mini Joker
2) Arkalis, París, Zaeta Roja vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Inquisidor, Metálico
3) Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Kráneo, Morphosis, Ripper
4) Ángel de Oro, Máximo Sexy, Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
5) Cibernético, Euforia, Último Guerrero vs Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Rush

Forgot to add this morning. It’s not a terribly compelling card – the third match might be good, but there’s no hope for the second and little hope for the top two.
