Toscano takes Casas’ hair, Mephisto/Caristico tonight

IWRG (SUN) 06/05/2016 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV, The Gladiatores]
Festival de Mascaras, 2016
1) Aramis & Geo b Atomic Star & Enigma
Aramis replaced Dragon Fly.
2) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo b Diablo Jr., Dragón Fly, Imposible, Panterita
Dragon Fly replaced the mystery guy (I guess, since Dragon Fly was booked in the opener.) Very good match. Freelance was back as Panterita for one night.
3) Mega, Omega, Súper Mega b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
Good match.
4) Pantera I, Pantera II, Ultramán Jr. b Argos, El Hijo del Diablo, Trauma II
Ultraman was honored after the match.
5) Danny Casas L Trauma I, Mr. Águila, Canis Lupus [cage, semifinal]
Mr. Aguila was the last to escape, attacking Danny’s knee. Canis Lupus and Trauma I made hair match challenges.
6) Toscano L Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Mr. Electro, Hijo De Dos Caras [cage, semifinal]
Mr. Electro & Hijo de Dos escaped first. Mascara 2000 Jr. appeared unable to continue and told Toscano to just leave, but Toscano decided to foul Mascara instead to be DQed (in a cage match?) Toscano wanted to get rematch with Danny.
7) Toscano b Danny Casas [hair]
Toscano used a martinete to win, getting revenge from a hair loss earlier this year.

No title change and Danny Casas losing is a bit of a surprise.

Tonight’s Puebla show has Mephisto and Caristico in a title match. Mephisto defends his CMLL Welterweight championship against the current Elite champion in the same division. It’s their first singles match since Caristico returned to CMLL; they didn’t face as much as Caristico & Averno in singles matches, but plenty in tags. The winner of this match will defend against Caifan on the next Chairo show.

It’s an overall good card: Puma, Tiger and Bobby Z versus Esfinge, Stigma and Triton in the semimain, Asturiano makes an appearance teaming with Millenium against the Batillon del Muerte. Local Puebla luchador Vega makes his debut in the opener.

Sabado Retros is off this week. There’s a boxing show instead.

Victoria was very positive about the Lucha World Cup and said they’d continue with this concept. The word on next year’s location is they would not rule out running some place else, but seems less definite.

RobViper has highlights of the 10/30/15 Dia De Los Muertes show

AyTV has an interview with Sanson.

Box Y Lucha #3236 has Pierroth, Rush and La Mascara on the cover.

Super Libre had Black Man & Dorado as guests.

Lucha Libre in Japan

I forgot to keep writing about this, but Volador in fact did not win the NJPW Best of Super Juniors. He did finish over 500 (4-3), in the second spot. That’s the highest finish since Wagner won his block in 1998. (Dorada finished 3rd last year, when there were two people advancing.)

Lineup

IWRG (WED) 06/08/2016 Arena Naucalpan
1) Fireman & Omega vs Demonio Infernal & Guerrero 2000
2) Aramis & Dragón Fly vs Adrenalina & Hip Hop Man
3) Emperador Azteca vs Imposible
4) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo vs Factor, Rayan, Spartan, Spector
5) Hijo del Alebrije, Relámpago, Ultramán Jr., Zatura vs ?, Apolo Estrada Jr., Canis Lupus, Eterno

Relampago is back around. The mystery Insoportable was Demon Clown last time, maybe someone else next time?

Martinez (SAT) 06/04/2016 Atlantico Hall, Houston, Texas [+LuchaTV]
1) Star Kid ?? Gran Midas
2) Chik Tormenta b Mystique
3) Violento Jack b Ronnie Mendoza
Low Rider moved to another match. Hard hitting match.
4) Silver Tiger b Low Rider
5) Arez b Flamita Arez vs Flamita 6-4-16 (posted by shinugami333)
Flamita moved into Septimo Dragon’s spot. As happens often with Arez, he had to abandoned the match due to knee injury, but returned to finish the match after a break.
6) Aerostar & Laredo Kid b Séptimo Dragón & Último Ninja
good match. Septimo switched places with Flamita. The reunited Air Force took the win.

Show sounds good, and attendance seems OK for an indie, though I don’t know what they usually do here. Many of this crew worked Arena Solidaridad tonight. I don’t have full results, but the photos +LuchaTV has posted make it seem like maybe a couple dozen people showed up in the very big arena, which is sad.

CMLL (SAT) 06/04/2016 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Bengala b Apocalipsis
2) Canelo Casas b Star Jr.
3) El Cuatrero b Starman
4) Hombre Bala Jr. b Disturbio
5) Hechicero b Guerrero Maya Jr.
said to be a great match, money thrown in
6) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther b Puma, Tiger, Vangellys
7) Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, Diamante Azul b Euforia, La Máscara, Niebla Roja

Attendance seems up here since they’ve come back, for whatever reason. Princesa Dorada was probably there recording the Disturbio match, we should’ve bribed her to get the Hechicero match too.

CMLL (SUN) 06/05/2016 Arena México [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Hombre Bala Jr., Starman, Stigma DQ Metálico, Sangre Azteca, Sansón
Straight falls. Sangre Azteca unmasked Hombre Bala.
2) Blue Panther Jr., Fuego, The Panther b Pólvora, Puma, Sagrado
Puma replaced Misterioso. Puma indicated this was last minute (but he was always prepared.)
3) Ephesto, Luciferno, Rey Bucanero b Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Valiente
4) Negro Casas & Shocker © b Atlantis & Diamante Azul [CMLL TAG]
Rudos took 2/3 to retain. 9th defense
5) Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero b Máscara Dorada, Máximo Sexy, Mistico
Dorada suffered a injury in the first fall, leaving this 2v3. Straight falls for the rudos. He reported he was OK later.

Dorada getting hurt early in matches is starting to become a worrisome pattern. Hope it’s just a freak thing and not an Arez-like chronic issue. Tag titles not changing hands is a bit of surprise. Maybe Pierroth & Rush will win them.

Elite’s TV show aired a report announcing Rush is suspended from Mexico City for a month for giving Cibernetico a martinete. If it’s a month from that show, he’d be back on the June 24 (Friday) show. CMLL hasn’t acknowledged this angle, but doesn’t acknowledge much with Elite since whatever happened that caused CMLL’s logos to be covered up, but Rush hasn’t worked in any CMLL DF shows since that show either.

Elite should be running again this Thursday, but no card has been announced. El Universal reports Flamita will debut on the show, teaming with Titan & Rocky Lobo in what sounds like a pretty good match with whoever is on the other side.

2) Hombre Bala Jr., Metatrón, Oro Jr. vs Hijo del Signo, Nitro, Sangre Azteca

Back to generic matches with no program. Third match could be pretty fun.

(no Sabado lineup yet.)

CMLL (SUN) 06/12/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Black Sugar vs Destello
2) Explosivo & Star Black vs Mr. Brisa & Thunder Boy
3) Nautilius vs Joker
4) Capitán Cobra, Cosmos, Reycko vs El Gitano, Linterna, Relámpago
5) Mágico vs Frezzer, Flash II, Metatrón, Magnum, Maléfico, Furia Roja, El Chakal, Rey Trueno, Espectrúm [Trofeo 57 Anniversario]

Metatron is listed as main eventing here and in the second match in Mexico City. He’s probably working here. Guadalajara is billing this as the start of June Anniversary shows, which means someone’s going to get unmasked.
