What happened: The biggest long term story might be Dragon Lee re-injuring his left knee, coming down from it badly on a flapjack. He was in pain, rolled out, and was unable to continue the semimain event.
The main event ended with a unique deal: Mephisto & a rudo Mascara Dorada challenged Carístico & Negro Casas to a tag match for next week.
Saurón beat Astral in the lightning match, setting up a title match next week.
What was good: The opener was good and the main event was fun. I liked the fourth match as well.
Where can I watch it:It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel. 3 matches will air on 52MX in a weekend or two. You’d hope they’ll skip the 5 minute match where someone gets hurt but you never know with them.Read More
Tonight’s Arena Puebla show has a random main event, with Atlantis, Caristico, Negro Casas versus Masara Dorada, Maximo and Mephisto in a relevod increibles match. There’s no obvious match on opposite sides of this match, it’s more as if they’re just short a rudo and had to come up with something. If there’s a feud coming out of this, it seems most likely to be one of the two teams falling apart.
It’s an overall good looking show on paper. Dragon Lee, Titan and Valiente take on Euforia, Gran Guerrero and Niebla Roja. Fujin, Raijin & Okumura make an appearance against Esfinge, Guerrero Maya and Rey Cometa. Astral and Sauron meet in a lightning match, which seems like it’s going to set up a title match next week. The openers are Arkalis/Astro vs Malayo/Espacial and Oro/Sobreano vs Jaguar/Policeman.
The show will air at 9pm CT, on CMLL & YouTube as usual.
There was a Geo in Promo Azteca (partner of Neo, who’s now Raizel), who largely disappeared or stopped using that name by 2000. Someone using that name has turned up in Mexico State since late last year, recently teaming with IWRG trainees Kanon and Vortize (so it’s probably actually a new guy.)
What happened: Cage & Mesias continue to run over anything, including an injured Texano. Argenis & Australian Suicide surprisingly won a tag title shot, with Suicide beating rival Daga. The Perros were then destroyed by the new Los Fronterizos group. Apache continues to attack Venum for reasons inadequately explained.
What was good: I liked the opener and the tag match, though both made me want longer matches (that probably aren’t happening.) I had no real use for the main event.
