Mascara Dorada

Recapped: 04/12/2016

What happened: Absolutely nothing. No angles on this show.

What was good: The main event, and absolutely nothing else. This was a bad boring show outside the main event.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL channel.

    • Flyer guillotine legrop Artillero (7:52)
  2. rudos

    • Robin sit down powerbomb Artillero (5:02)
    • Flyer springboard moonsault Inquisidor (5:29)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:19

Review: [below average] an unremarkable and completely forgettable opener match. This is the first time this exact foursome has had a match, but these matches are all so similar feeling that there’s no change in the match when the fourth wheel gets swapped out. Robin & Magnus are a more interesting team than Robin & Flyer.

Review: [terrible] probably the most boring CMLL match of the year. I don’t think you can get more boring. Even when they finally did stuff, they botched the big highlight spot. Everyone seemed not on the same page or not working together or totally lost. Canelo spaced out a few times, he and Soberano had a bizarre staring contest on the ramp, and the veterans weren’t any help. This wasn’t helped by going so incredibly long either – someone needed to get the hook.

one good moment from this match

Match 3: Stigma vs Disturbio in a lightning match
Arena México, 04/12/2016

Winner: Disturbio (front backbreaker)
Match Time: 6:21

Review: [ok] this was really not much than a normal lightning match, but it was world’s better than the last match and that helped a bit. They were trying hard and doing big moves and such – they kicked out of each other’s finishes before Disturbio got the bit of surprise win. There was nothing special to it but it was at least what you’d expect.

Match 4: Esfinge, Guerrero Maya Jr., Pegasso vs Luciferno, Misterioso Jr., Sagrado
Arena México, 04/12/2016

  1. tecnicos
    • Luciferno Hooligan Crash Pegasso (3:28)
    • Guerrero Maya Jr. inside cradle Misterioso (3:50)
    • Esfinge springboard splash Sagrado (4:08)
  2. técnicos
    • DQ Sagrado [mask pull] (5:00)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:08

Review: [ok] again, not a super match, but better than some of the matches before just by being entertaining. The Boricuas found new ways to lose the first fall, and a old way to lose the second one. Esfinge is trying and even did the missed tope into the stage, but then recovered from it too quick to make it meaningful (but apparently necessarily so since they did that finish.) Not as much Maya as you’d like.

Match 5: La Máscara, Súper Porky, Titán vs Gran Guerrero, Kráneo, Mr. Niebla
Arena México, 04/12/2016

  1. rudos
    • Mr. Niebla top rope splash La Mascara (4:16)
  1. tecnicos
    • Super Porky splash Gran Guerrero & Mr. Niebla (1:51)
  2. rudos
    • Kraneo legdrop Super Porky (5:35)
    • Gran Guerrero chokeslam Titan (5:40)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:47

Review: [ok] Super quick match that entertained the fans, which is better than you can about most the matches. Back to back days of Porky matches isn’t healthy for anyone, Porky included, but this was less sad than the Puebla one. Titan and Kraneo were good.

tecnicos might have figured Kraneo out on this one

Match 6: Dragón Lee, Máscara Dorada, Stuka Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Arena México, 04/12/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Dragon Lee hanging double stomp Pólvora (1:31)
    • Stuka hammerlock DDT Dragon Lee (1:34)
  2. rudos
    • Dragon Rojo anti-air missile dropkick Mascara Dorada (2:45)
  3. tecnicos
    • Dorada Driver Rey Escorpión (3:57)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:16

Review: [good] Another really short match, as in Puebla with these same rudos, but one where they were going at an even more rapid pace and with what felt like bigger moves. Mascara Dorada was totally on and stole the show, no easy task with Dragon Lee on his side. Even relatively minor spots like the springboard elbow drop looked sharp, and the great stuff (rope walking!) was unbelievable. The rudos did a good job of keeping up with everything and getting in a few spots of their own. This would’ve been epic with a few more minutes to build it up, but it made putting up with the rest of this show bearable.
