CMLL tonight

CMLL (TUE) 03/29/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Frezzer & Mágico
straight falls
2) Joker, Maléfico, Sangre Azteca b Omar Brunetti, Príncipe Daniel, Starman
Principe Daniel is an unmasked Indigo (brother of Demonio Maya & Barbaro Cavernario)
3) Espectrúm, Fujin, Virus b Fuego, Tritón, Vaquero Jr.
Espectrum’s side won in straight falls, beating Vaquero with a powerbomb in the second, leading into their hair match next week.
4) Cavernario, Rey Bucanero, Vangellys b Gallo, Stuka Jr., Titán
Gallo replaced Blue Panther.
5) Blue Panther, Marco Corleone, Máximo Sexy b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Blue Panther replaced Super Porky. Tecnicos took 2/3.

Credit to FlashMagic for realizing the Indigo/Principe Daniel connection. Vaquero is a safe bet to win next week.

IWRG (WED) 03/30/2016 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Skanda & Último Caballero b Demonio Infernal & Dragón
Demonio Infernal & Dragon replaced Kabra Kan & Rey Flecha.
2) Ángel De La Muerte I & Ángel De La Muerte II b Charly Boy & Guerrero 2000
3) Matrix Jr. b Ninja Olimpus and Galaxy and Vardeus and Omega
4) Centvrión, Hijo del Alebrije, Látigo b Acero, Picudo Jr., Violencia Jr.
Good match. Acero & Latigo feuded.
5) Atomic Fly, Fly Star, Keiser Drago, Keshin Black, Komachi, Marduk, Salchichita, Toxin Boy b Adrenalina, Aramis, Atomic Star, Blue Monsther, Dragón Fly, Freyser, Power Bull, Shadow Boy[Copa Higher Power]
Gym FILL (Black Terry) vs Gym Zeuz (Oficial 911). Atomic Star replaced Alas de Acero. Match came down to Dragon Fly against Fly Star, Keshin Black and Toxin. Dragon rallied back against Star and Black, but 911 distracted the ref to help Toxin get in a piledriver for the win.

The recap notes the two sides felt unbalanced (mentioning size/weight.) A 3 on 1 ending is unusual for this.

Tonight’s CMLL show seems feels like an afterthought. There’s roughly 400 big wrestling shows going on this weekend, and this appears to just be one of them. CMLL’s pre-empted the importance of this show (and next week) by already announcing the incredible pairs tournament for the rest of the month. It’s possible they could build up a second main event for the Arena Mexico Anniversary show – they have done two in some years, but not most – but it’s still far enough out that it might not start yet. CMLL often goes into a lull after Homenaje a Dos Leyendas and this might be it.

Still, it’s an interesting card. Marco Corleone, Caristico, and Volador take on Rush, Cibernetico and Negro Casas in an incredible pairs trios, where everyone is facing their partner in their upcoming tournament. The preview notes Volador and Caristico fought on Wednesday; the bit with Volador being a rudo on Elite hasn’t been brought over to the Friday shows, but tonight has the makings of some storyline development. It’s the only match which seems to have that potential: nothing else follows up a feud, though some are rematches and the Dragon Lee, Mascara Dorada and Stuka versus Hijos del Infierno match has a chance to be fun. The Panther Boys & Fuego take on Raijin, Fujin, and Okumura in a near rematch from some good encounters in Puebla in the semimain. The opener is a replay of the H2L opener, with Cuatrero & Sanson versus Soberano & Oro, which can only be better this time. There’s also a La Mascara/Angel de Oro lightning match and Ripper, Kraneo & Hechicero taking on Guerreor Maya, Rey Cometa nd Super Porky (assuming he’s able to make the show.)

The show will air on ClaroSports.com at 8:30pm local, but still one hour later if you switch clocks in March. This is the final live streaming show to air an hour late; Mexico switches their clocks on Sunday morning, and everyone is on daylight savings time. (あなたが夏時間を持たない日本にしている場合を除きは。すべては時間はあなたのために10月まで、それ以降です。)

The bigger CMLL event of the day is the debut of the Azteca 7 show. It’s listed as starting at 6 pm and ending…sometime after that. TV listings say 7, Azteca’s website says 7:15. This show will air matches from Wednesday’s taping, probably Mascara Dorada vs Extreme Tiger & Rush vs Lashley as part of the Liga Elite competition. The format of the show is going to be interesting; the announcers are Azteca announcers, which suggests the production of the show is theirs as well. It may look different than the normal CMLL shows.

Some of Azteca7’s northern affiliates have live streams of the channel, but only from 4AM to 2:30pm. The feed doesn’t actually shut down, they just block access to the page which hosts it, which means other sites (of dubious nature) will still be streaming the channel. The feed seems to buffer a little bit when I watch it, but that buffering isn’t evident when I record it. I’m feeling like there’s a good chance I’ll be able to get it.

No sign of a next show lineup for Elite yet. Maybe they’ll announce it on the show.

No details on Konnan from WaleMania except he had a not nice thing to say about AAA very loud. I think more people are slowly figuring out things might not be good there, but it’s been clear things haven’t been good since around the time Alberto left (not that it was over that, but that seems to be the point where things started to change) and I’d assume Konnan is either no longer work with AAA or doesn’t care about working with AAA any more at this point.

Ivelisse got bad news on her foot injury yesterday. That sounds like she won’t be able to make it back for the rest of the Season 3 tapings, and they had just started a new storyline for her – or maybe it was midway thru? It’s out of order, who knows – but hope they didn’t need her for other matches.

Demus says he’s thinking about retiring. Given the day, I’m not sure how seriously to take that.

Segunda Caida reviews Atlantis, Hirooki Goto, Negro Casas vs La Sombra, Rush, Strong Man

Arena Coliseo Guadalajara has a brief bio of Asesino Negro, leading into him being honored Tuesday on their Homenaje a Dos Leyendas.

Octagon Jr.  is happy to be in the semimain of the Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera show.

Herodes Jr. feels quitting CMLL and going on the indies worked well.

Centvrion hypes his match on 04/03 in Puebla, and he and Fly Warrior were interviewed in Arena Dos de Junio.

Kilvan & Latigo talk about facing off on the 04/09 Gimnasio Hercules show.

AyTV continues it’s video series with a Dragon Lee interview. And Plantilla Deportiva interviews Hombre Bala Jr.

Lineup

CMLL (TUE) 04/05/2016 Arena México
1) Astral & Eléctrico vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Estrellita, La Vaquerita, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, La Comandante, Tiffany
3) Súper Halcón Jr. vs Nitro [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther vs Disturbio, Puma, Tiger
5) Guerrero Maya Jr., Máscara Dorada, Máximo Sexy vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
6) Esfinge & Volador Jr. vs Fujin & Rey Escorpión [Gran Alternativa, final]

Esfinge’s going to be in CMLL for years to come and Fujin is not, so the Mexican is the slight favorite – but it’s unclear why Esfinge needs to win two of these. Esfinge did come up strong in the Copa Junior final so maybe it’ll happen here (and Volador and Rey Escorpion is a good match.)

This might be a good show to show up halfway thru. Top 3 matches have chances to be fun.
