Dorada boost tope con giro
Dorada boost tope con giro

Recapped: 03/14/2016

What happened: Ultimo Guerrero fouled Caristico, which sets up a singles match between them next week. Fujin stole Blue Panther’s mask, setting up a rematch next week.

What was good: I liked the opener! That was pretty much it.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel

Match 1: Arkalis & París vs El Malayo & Guerrero Espacial
Arena Puebla, 03/14/2016

  1. rudos
    • Guerrero Espacial off the shoulders splash Paris (5:32)
    • Mayalo flipping armbar Arkalis (7:08)
  2. tecnicos
    • Arkalis moonsault bodyblock Guerrero Especial (1:51)
    • Paris huracanrana Malayo (2:06)
  3. técnicos
    • Paris modified figure four Malayo (1:49)
    • Guerrero Especial inverted cruz nipona Paris (2:16)
    • Arkalis top rope frankensteiner Guerrero Espacial (2:43)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:57

Review: [good] entertaining locals match with everyone working hard and some of the more talented guys. Arkalis doing the Espectro sit crossed legged in the center of the ring and counter everything spot was unexpected. Malayo is really good as a rudo and Guerrero Especial was fine except for the one time he nearly killed Paris. Paris a little awkward, but tried – that toss into a casadora would’ve been awesome had it stuck, and Guerrero. They didn’t get much time but they didn’t waste it.

Match 2: Astral, Acero, Último Dragóncito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Violencia
Arena Puebla, 03/14/2016

  1. rudos
    • Mercurio springboard double stomp Astral (6:13)
  2. técnicos
    • Ultimo Dragoncito step over tirabuzon Pequeño Violencia (3:29)
    • Acero suastica Pequeño Nitro (3:37)
  3. tecnicos
    • Astral Skayde Special into a crucifix cradle Mercurio (3:03)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:53
Notes: Acero replaced Fantasy.

Review: [ok] Mercurio working a thousand miles an hour with some people who didn’t care or weren’t every good. This was a one man show. Pequeño Violencia didn’t cause anything to go wrong, because he was barely in (seemingly disappearing for most of the second fall) and not really doing much when he was in. Dragoncito really didn’t do much either, but he seemed to be moving when he was in. Fantasy to Acero is a pretty even trade.

Match 3: Blue Panther Jr., Stigma, The Panther vs Fujin, Okumura, Raijin
Arena Puebla, 03/14/2016

  1. rudos
    • Okumura hanging DDT The Panther (4:31)
  2. tecnicos

    • Fujin Santa Maria Stigma (4:07)
    • Fujin mask pull Blue Panther Jr. (4:39)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:55
Notes: Blue Panther Jr. demanded a rematch, and just got his masks stolen by the técnicos.

Review: [ok] they worked hard in this one too, but it didn’t feel like they accomplished as much as in the opener. Plus, nothing in there was as bad as Stigma’s hilariously bad Pele kick (and Blue Panther doing the same kick spot over and over wasn’t so great.) T. Panther’s late great tope came out of nowhere and they might as well keep these two teams together for a while longer.

Match 4: Ángel de Oro, Stuka Jr., Súper Porky vs Rey Escorpion, Kráneo, Ripper

Arena Puebla, 03/14/2016

  1. tecnicos
    • Super Porky splash Kraneo & Rey Escorpión (5:50)
  2. rudos
    • Kraneo legdrop Super Porky (2:41)
    • Ripper shoulder neckbreaker Angel de Oro (2:53)
  3. técnicos
    • Angel de Oro mecedora Ripper (2:21)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:04
Notes: Rey Escorpión subbed for Hechicero

Review: [ok] Super Porky versus the Invasors part 1000. I miss Hechicero, I hope he comes back soon, but the difference between him and Escorpión didn’t mean much. This was going to be the same match it always is either way, with a heavy focus on Kraneo and Porky. There have been better ones.

Match 5: Carístico, Máscara Dorada, Máximo Sexy vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Arena Puebla, 03/14/2016

  1. rudos
    • Gran Guerrero Pulpo Guerrero Máximo (2:27)
    • Niebla Roja Furia Roja Mascara Dorada (2:39)
  2. técnicos
    • Dorada springboard casadora Gran Guerrero (2:48)
    • Máximo kiss cradle Niebla Roja (2:55)
  3. tecnicos
    • DQ Ultimo Guerrero [foul to Caristico] (3:56)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:30

Review: [ok] very much a going thru the motions match; there was no transition between the rudos being in control and the técnicos just doing their own moves for the comeback, it was just time for other team to take over. In that context, the spot with UG yanking Caristico down from a corner armdrag was really strange. This match didn’t do as much for the feud as previous ones.
