Air Date: 03/19? They’re still kind of a week short, so either a match is going to be added to Toluca, or Toluca or Naucalpan is going to be stretched out to two weeks, or maybe they’re going to do the never seen bit of combining showing two different tapings on one show or – I dunno, this could air March 19th and/or it could air March 26th, your guess is as good as mine.

This taping is a late addition to make up for Tampico being canceled, and it kind comes off as such. The opener is such a random group of individuals, as if the first six people who responded to a group text got a spot on the card. (I’m almost sure that didn’t happen.) The rest of the show is lack a little continuity or design too.

The main rudo side has Dr. Wagner Jr., Mesias and Texano. Those three guys will meet in a bull terrier match on Friday and then will be partner on this show. Normally, one of the people in the Rey de Reyes championship match (Texano vs Mesias!) would be turning face, but none appear to be doing so. None of this makes much sense on paper. Perhaps they’ll find a way to make it compelling on TV. This remains a strange way to build to a title match; the Psycho Clown/Dr. Wagner feud appears to have priority.

Semifinal is a really exciting match without La Parka (and maybe Villano IV) involved. No such luck. It is notable because it comes after the Rey de Reyes Group 4 match. Parka & Villano (and Demon have advanced), Pentagon Jr. is the only guy from Group 4 booked in the match, and Pentagon is the favorite to advance out of that group. Maybe that’s going to be a final preview match.

Aside 1: Fantasma is not booked here, or anywhere on TV outside of Friday’s Group final. He could surprise and go to the final himself and that would explain things. It’s just strange there’s no spot for him here or on Rey de Reyes unless he makes the final. He is healthy and was wrestling Sunday in Juarez, so no idea.

Aside 2: Queretaro’s big story was the Perros del Mal all being friends again. None of the Perros del Mal team on the following two tapings. Strange.

Still kind of assuming all the luchador sorpresa spots at Fireball, though it’s strange (a word I’m overusing) AAA wouldn’t list him by this point if that’s the case. Probably more peculiar is Ricky Marvin being a rudo (and not Bengala.) Lack of logical rudo to team up with those guys now that they’re out of La Sociedad? Injury replacement for Daga? The end of the masked character? He’s probably more useful on the rudo side at this point given the depth of young flyers on the tecnico side, but there probably should be some explanation of what’s going on there.

Aside 3: who is in La Sociedad now? Could I get a organizational chart?

The usual Relevos match gets moved to the segunda, except the exoticos get left behind. Mascarita Sagrada is the only person who repeats this match and the Rey de Reyes opener.

Opener is a grab bag of people. Argenis/Mascara 2000 Jr. are among the lowest tecnicoss and rudos on the totem pole. Estrella Divina works some AAA spots shows and is getting a TV chance as an opponent for Mamba. (This will be her first TV appearance since 2014, when they had a 4 women vs 4 exoticos match.) And Xandao and Mexicano is maybe student versus trainer? I think Mexicano has a hand in the training, and AAA’s used him on small shows a few years ago. Mexicano was a TV regular a long time ago, but this would be his first appearance since 2000 and there’s really no reason for him to be on this show unless it’s to help Xandao thru a debut match. Xandao is a tall Brazilian (friend of Zumbi!) who’s been used by Leyendas Inmortales and indy shows, but hasn’t made much of an impression outside being tall and Brazilian. Maybe he’ll show something here, but there’s more interesting people who could’ve been used in that spot.

Naucalpan tapings are usually pretty hot. The card really isn’t – matches 3 and 4 could be good, but could not be just the same. Match 5 is probably a normal Psycho Circus math with an angle at the end. Mathc 2 is also something we’ve seen many times before.
