This half of AAA has Guerra de Titanes part 2, with Australian Suicide, Fireball, Jack Evans vs Daga, Parka Negra and Super Fly, probably the best match on the show.

Dragon Lee and Kamaitachi are back at it on the Friday Night ClaroSports stream. (That remains still on.)

Azteca has a Caristico vs Rush singles match.

Lucha Underground includes Kobra Moon’s debut. She is not facing a woman.

IWRG may be back to airing two episodes a week; I’ve just got the Sunday one.

That Tuesday CMLL YouTube stream looks so bad.

Mariachis versus Insoportables, Dos Leyendas, lots of links

IWRG (WED) 02/03/2016 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Alas de Acero & Aramis b Ángel De La Muerte I & Ángel De La Muerte II
2) Dragón Fly, Fireman, Omega b Adrenalina, Atomic Star, Vampiro Metálico
3) Leo, Mike, Rafy b Avisman, Hip Hop Man, Vórtize
4) Diablo Jr. I, El Hijo del Diablo, Imposible b Hijo de Mascara Sagrada, Hijo del Alebrije, Pantera I
Los Mariachis Locos got another win, but the Insoportables ran out to attack them post match. That led into the main event.
5) Apolo Estrada, Canis Lupus, Eterno b Argos, Emperador Azteca, Pantera I
Canis Lupus is officially part of the Insoportables now. Pantera I was a last second sub for Danny Casas and worked two matches in a row. Rudos took 1/3, the last by Apolo & Eerno cheating Argos. Los Mariachis Locos attacked them post match.

A logical feud set up in IWRG! I wonder what will get changed before they actually have the big match

CMLL held a brief press event yesterday officially announcing Salvador Lutteroth and Lizmark are those honored at Homenaje a Dos Leyendas on March 18th. CMLL’s press release writes Lizmark was under consideration for the honor in other years, and there’s no other option this year. Lizmark was honored as part of a group of past stars in 2010, which would’ve been his last time in rena Mexico.

This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentions Lucha Underground officials met with WWE officials in December “regarding talent”, but it didn’t go anywhere. LU’s Eric Van Wagenen previously mentioned WWE’s Canyon Ceman was an old friend, so I wonder if that’s how it came about. Ceman and HHH were the WWE officials.

+MasLuchaTV has launched a new YouTube, Esto Es Lucha!  It’s a PTI/Around the Horn like discussion show about a different topics. Apolo Valdez and Dhani Ledesma joining Bernado and Jose Manual (and el Monje) to talk about the best show and luchador of 2015 among other topics.

Cara Lucha, who’s been dormant since their New Year’s Day show, announced their next show as February 21, with a tease of DTU participation.

The Queretaro Hurracarrana column says Elite may be running a show in Queretaro in March. As they noted in the column, that’s where the last iteration of Elite crashed and burned after a show fell apart minutes before it was supposed to happen.

Revolution Pro Wrestling announced Ricochet for their April 16 show, which probably rules that weekend out at as a Lucha Underground taping. (Though, the LU story was the wrestlers weren’t told the tape dates yet, so maybe not 100% confirmed.)

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and extensive picks for the best of 2015.

RobViper has highlights of July 31, 2015 CMLL.

The Tag Rope has an interview with Pentagon Jr. about Lucha Underground.

Proyecto Suplex writes about the lessons learned from maestro matches.

Criterio Hidalgo interviews Ram el Carnero, who debuted in IWRG last year and has been wrestling since 2011. He’s still only 17.

There’s a benefit show for Pato Soria with CMLL luchadors on 02/27 in Mexico City.

Mascara Dorada talks about his time in NJPW and his interest in going to WWE in a video interview with Plantilla Deportiva. He also did a (text) interview with MiedoTiempo. Dorada says his new move is called the Dorada Driver. NJPW seemed to be calling it the Dorada Screwdriver and I’m tempted to stick with it because it’s slightly more colorful.

Espanto Jr. wants to join a faction, hopes to win En Busca de un Idolo in 2016. These are not great ideas.

El Diario de Coahuila has a profile of Monterrey luchador Sergio Romo Jr.

Dia HEARTS, the faction Flamita was most recently aligned with in Dragon Gate, lost a losing unit must disband match today.

The NFL’s Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders are expected to play a game in Estadio Azteca this year. The date has not been announced. That’ll probably bring a good amount of US tourists, which probably means a good weekend for lucha.

03/04 AAA TV Lineup (Toluca)

03/04 Toluca

AAA TV (FRI) 03/04/2016 Gimnasio Agustín Millán, Toluca, Estado de México
1) Goya Kong, Mascarita Sagrada, Niño Hamburguesa vs El Apache, Mini Psycho Clown, Taya
2) Aerostar & Drago vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan & Taurus
3) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Zorro
4) Pentagón Jr. vs Hijo del Fantasma, Fénix, ? [AAA Rey de Reyes, quarterfinal]
5) El Mesías vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Texano Jr. [bull terrier]

Air Date: 03/12 – probably one week with the opener being left off.

The main event and the tercera feel like Dr. Wagner is suddenly going to be elevated to the main event title match and Psycho’s going back to challenging for the trios titles. Could just be a fakeout. It’d be disappointing to see Psycho relegated, but Wagner versus Texano versus Mesias is a better draw than Texano versus Mesias.

Full Rey de Reyes blocks:
1: Dr. Wagner Jr., Blue Demon Jr., Garza Jr., Taurus (02/06)
2: Villano IV, Electroshock, Chessman, Jack Evans (02/19)
3: La Parka, Psycho Clown, Averno, Zorro (02/19)
4: Pentagon Jr., Hijo del Fantasma, Fenix, ? (03/04)

It’s possible Pentagon and Fantasma will be coming into this match having met in the mixed title match on the previous taping. The mystery man silhouette appears to be Flamita/Fireball again. The Toluca crowd is always great, and that match is a match of the year candidate on paper. Pentagon seems unlikely to advance because he’s got the tag title match. Whoever else wins this block needs to win Rey de Reyes or come very close. AAA needs new top stars and their best candidates are pretty much all in one block.

The segunda also looks very good. I’m wondering if Anarquia might be another one of those storylines that have been dropped with the the creative change, since Hijo del Pirata Morgan has been pulled out of the faction at the times to feud with Electroshock. There seemed to be two different directions for him at once, and it seems an easy guess Konnan was behind the one that had him part of a trio that was having good matches.  Daga is actually pictured on the poster, but not in the match – maybe they were short one tecnico for this one?

Next taping has to be Rey de Reyes. (Which might mean we know the card before we know who’s advanced to the final of the tournament.) Given the SLP taping on the 23rd and when AAA will need TV, Rey de Reyes is March 13th if they run on a Sunday night as usual for a big show.

Edit: RobViper reminds me Drago, Fenix and Pentagon are already booked in Atlantis Atlanta on 03/13. Maybe it’s Friday the 11th? The Tampico promoters, the people who were originally going to have Guerra de Titanes, had that show scheduled on a Friday. They hinted they were getting Rey de Reyes as a makeup, and promoters usually schedule on a certain day of the week.
