What happened:Negro Casas cheated to defeat Volador. Volador wants a singles match still. The big Thunder/Rush battle ended in under seven minutes with Thunder fouling Rush. Mephisto cheated to beat Angel de Oro, which might be a start of a program there.
Oh, and Mascara Dorada is back.
What was good:I liked the opener and the main event, and there were good moments in other matches. There’s no stellar match, but this was one of the better Puebla shows in a while.

Solar/Terry is probably fine, but Panther/Terry was the most interesting match on this card.
Past winners
2010: Dr. Cerbero & Hijo del Signo
2011: Scorpio Jr. & Comando Negro
2012: X-Fly & Imposible
2013: X-Fly & Carta Brava Jr.
2014: Super Nova & Electro Boy
2015: Negro Navarro & Metaleon
2016: Herodes Jr. & Atomic Star
Atomic Star lost in the finals with Eterno in 2014, lost in the first round with Eterno again in 2015. I guess he got a better partner! Hijo del Diablo seems to have come out with the more successful trio in the Gringos VIP split.
Lucha Underground sent out a press release confirming the Season 3 renewal. The interesting bit is they say the Season 3 won’t start until early January 2017. That’s a much longer break than I would’ve assumed – around six months after Season 2 ends. It’s likely (whenever they start), it’ll be another season where the season will be mostly or all taped before it airs. It also definitely shifts the plan away from doing PPVs and other TV-like live events; it’s not going to work to do a PPV if everything on both sides of it has been taped for months.
This would also mean anyone under contract for three seasons – Pro Wrestling Sheet said this is the case with Prince Puma back in the fall – probably wouldn’t be a free agent until summer of 2017 if the contract doesn’t expire until the episodes all air. (There was some founded speculation this would happen much sooner over the weekend.) On the other hand, if LU does start taping – and finish taping – season 3 in 2016, that’d leave Ricochet to spend a lot of 2017 in NJPW if he’d like.
Today’s Puebla show has Rush versus Thunder in a real wrestling match. I endorse rioting if Rush loses in straight falls like Euforia did on Friday. Main event is Mascara Dorada’s first match back with CMLL, teaming with Dragon Lee & Volador Jr. vs Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero and Ultimo Guerrero. That may continue the focus on the Casas/Volador issue from Friday, but Puma and Tiger aren’t scheduled to be in Puebla today. Maybe Casas can recruit Rey Apocalispis & Toro Bill, who wrestle a segunda against Magnus & Metatron. Show starts at 9pm as usual.
