lucha TV preview for weekend of January 15th

AAA returns to new matches this week, we’re almost sure. No idea which matches will air; maybe keep an eye on their Twitter account if they’re back to announcing these things ahead of time.

52MX returned to airing Puebla matches, which means it’s kind of useless for anyone with access to YouTube. It was a two week trip to Tuesday matches. A friend had a theory that everything was being bounced around for two weeks due to CMLL wanting to protect the iPPVs. That seems to fit with what happened, and could mean something other than the cage match airs on Azteca this week.

LATV has gone off into repeat land once again.

CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX: 2015-12-26

this took forever and a day

Recapped: 01/03/106

What happened: Tuesday matches are now airing on 52MX. They had been airing irregularly on Claro Sports/Titanes en el Ring since the shut down of CadenaTres. It appears this is a permanent change from airing the Puebla matches as it stays this way the following week, but nothing is for sure with CMLL’s TV. The top 3 matches (skipping the lightning matches) will likely air every week.

Titan defeated Dragon Rojo in the main event trios after those two feuded all match long. The opener saw the rudos win with by cheating and everyone pull everyone else’s mask, as they set up the cage match.

What was good: Just the main event. Tuesday shows haven’t changed much since I was recapping them a couple months ago, with the matches scaled down to the audience size.

Where can I watch it: It’s on my YouTube channel. Read More

Sky Team keep trios titles, upcoming lineups

CMLL (TUE) 01/12/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Fuego en el Ring]
1) Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno b Capitan Cobra & Vaquero Jr.
2) Amapola, La Comandante, Zeuxis b La Vaquerita, Lluvia, Princesa Sugehit
Zeuxis replaced Tiffany. Rudas took 1/3.
3) Pierroth, Sagrado, Skándalo b Fuego, Stigma, Tritón
Rudos took 1/3. Triton was stretchered out.
4) Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, Rey Cometa DQ Ephesto, Kráneo, Luciferno
Rey Cometa replaced Super Porky, who’s been missing shows since 12/29. Tecnicos took 2/3, the last when Kraneo fouled La Mascara.
5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. © b Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys[CMLL TRIOS]
Sky Team took 1/3. Third fall saw the referee go down, Vangellys take Mistico’s mask but Volador give Bucanero the back cracker and Mistico covered up and fell on top for the win. Sixth defense.

La Liga de la Justica, who are running their first Coacalco show this weekend, says they hope to run every two weeks. That’s pretty ambitious (though CaraLucha isn’t far off of that.) Emilio Cova is listed as the promoter.

Terremoto Negro hypes his match Wotam, which happens at the ILLM show the same day as the Justicia show.

Caristico blamed others for his problems in WWE. In this case, he blamed the other Mexicans who were there (which would’ve been the current Sin Cara and Alberto.)

NJPW has part one of their annual conversation with Miki Motoi about the FantasticaMania tour, starting out with the luchadors debuting on this tour.

Niebla Roja says he’d like a cage match between the Revolucionarios and the Guerreros. That seems like it might occur. If the problem is CMLL doesn’t trust Thunder in a singles apuesta match, that’s the workaround.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Segunda Caida unearths Atlantis versus Silver Fox.

Apolo Valdes writes about Pentagon Jr. being the present and future of AAA. AAA held a poll for the best wrestler of the year a while back now. There were four nominees: Rey Mysterio, Hijo del Fantasma, Psycho Clown and Pentagon Jr., won by Pentagon. Four were picked for that, the guys who did the best in the last year (who are still around) and yet only one of those same wrestlers were picked as contenders for the AAA Mega Championship. Rey is apparently unavailable. Pentagon too (though they could just pick a day when he was around if he was that important.) Fantamsa’s there and just not part of the match.

Dominican wrestler El Puma (Francisco Acosta) passed away recently.

The Rayo/Dinamita show worked in Arena Mexico, so they’ll take in to Monterrey for a night. Not sure what this means for the Sunday Arena Mexico show; it won’t be one like we’ve seen with Caristico and Cibernetico off of it.

great match roundup, week of 2015-12-26

This is the last week of 2015, but CMLL and AAA’s usual lag means some of 2015 won’t air until well in 2016. As a result, these posts are going to be a little messier until we’re fully in 2016. The lists are broken up internally by year, and I might as well keep them that way here.

I’m not sure if I’m going to quite hit my goal of being done with all of 2015 before FantasticaMania starts, but it’s going to be pretty close. For this week, I”ve already knocked off the 12/28 Puebla show and the 01/01 iPPV. Recaps still to post with relevant matches:

  • 12/26 and 01/01 CMLL 52MX with Tuesday matches (one’s the next post) – 6 more matches
  • two more general catchup posts – 12 matches
  • lightning matches posted by CMLL – 7 matches
  • a quick recap of the four filler AAA TV episodes – o new matches, though this takes a little bit of time.
  • two episodes of AAA in Neza – 6 matches, haven’t aired yet
  • the 12/25 LuchaMemes show  – 7 matches, aren’t up yet.

38 to go! And I’ve already watched some of those, this is a trailing indicator.  I know there are LATV matches Alfredo’s posting that I won’t be getting and a few from Arena Coliseo Guadalajara that I’m missing, but I think I’m good with the amount of CMLL TV I’ve watched and those shows aren’t set up for great matches. There’s no good reason to watch those lightning matches – they’re not likely to be any better! – but at least they’re not really edited. Can’t wait to find out what I missed.

I did think to update my 2015 lucha libre MOTYC list; I’ll be louder about it when I think I’m done.
